It really did. It was the last game I actually wanted to play every single day. Had a huge group of friends that played every day too. Gaming has just felt lifeless to me since D1.
This is the best part of destiny. I remember when my old fireteam all got together for the first time after years playing together. I remain just as close with them today as I was years ago when we first met playing VoG for the first time. Some great fucking memories

The d1 nostalgia is real! House of wolves crucible was by far the best time I had in destiny 1 & 2 combined. I think that meta was the most fun and felt the best. I used to play for hours and hours and hours at a time just crucible the whole time. Now playing crucible is like pulling teeth.
Why does the game look and sound and feel so much better. Like while you were in the halls you can hear everything so crisp and the different times of days on the maps. Oh man what a time to be alivr

Everything about d1 felt so surreal. Like you were actually in a hostile, alien-inhabited, post apocalyptic world… and yet it remains one of the most beautiful games I’ve played to date. The lighting and the older graphics aesthetic is just unmatched in d2. I will never have fonder memories of any other shooter
That’s such an issue too, in d2 there’s no post apocalyptic feel, there’s no worry about these enemies as they’re always weak and we shit on them, we haven’t taken a loss (lore wise) in the game in years. Everything about d2 just feels off

It’s what made everything felt threatening in D1, it was us creating our own legend against these overwhelming foes. Now we are just known as the guy no one can beat and shit on gods for breakfast. So I am really hoping the Witness does something to make us feel just powerless against him
Not gonna lie, I wish in crucible they would say "control, bravo team" again. Felt like I was going through a training war game. Destiny 1 was a magical thing to be a part of.
I was 3 when I started playing the beta. I was scared of the fallen that came from the ceiling in the start so I had my dad help me and I didn’t get back on for the rest of the day because he wanted to play destiny. I still play it and I’m almost 13. D1 brings back so many memories of my first necrocasm when I was 8 or my adept fate bringer at 9. I remember coming home from school everyday to play destiny or black ops 2. Good times😢
i love when you find something old with a bunch of ancient videos on it because you can not only laugh at how bad you used to be but also see how much you have improved
I still play d1 weekly because sometimes i just sit in the tower for hours remembering all the times i've had with the friends, and it will never be the same no matter what. Destiny 1 was a game. We had so many memories, and it will always be the best. R.I.P. i wish Destiny 2 could give me these memories, but people get lives and things change.
While I understand it means a lot to you, as it does to most of us I still think its important to spend time appreciating what we have access to rn, instead of always looking back.

D1 will forever hold a special place in my heart, a full raid temas full of friends, going flawless with my highschool buddies the first week trials came out, 8hr kings fall raid day one it came out, even farming routes in the cosmodrome for glimmer and the all mighty loot cave
This brings me back. My girlfriend, my brother, and I actually would try trials every now and then because you could earn bounties instead of going flawless and hope for guns or armor you want. I remember shredding the whole enemy team on the bridge map with an ice breaker sniper, I felt like a god. It's significantly harder to get those hero moments on Destiny 2.
Loved seeing the No Land clips, rip the gun that taught all of us the sprint reload animation cancel. Now the worst habit most of us are surely stuck with, even though it now does nothing.
Gotta love the nostolgia you captured here. D1 was a different breed of game. Also I gotta give it up for you using the original soundtrack from D1 too. I always loved the music D1 had. The mix of orchestra and choir to bring out the intense moments from such a monumentous game. All combined with the outstanding plays you've shown. Standing ovation for this. Well done! Also side note, can we all just take a moment to recognize how calm Lord Shaxx was? They usually say you mellow out as you get older but for him it's just the opposite. He's become the screaming, rampaging, ever hyped up titan we all know and love.
I met a group of guys on lfg in Crotas end and stuck with them ever since. We still all talk to this day and they’re from Pennsylvania and I’m from Texas. I’ve been up to see them once and they’re all coming down to Texas this summer. It was definitely more than a game for me as I got some lifelong friends from my experience with destiny. Yes we still play today and do raids together.

I picked up D1 after already playing D2 for around a year in order to see what the fuss was all about. Lo and behold, D1 Crucible turned out to be my favorite PVP FPS experience this side of Black Ops 2. Even though lobbies are mostly dead now, I do occasionally still hop on when D2 gets overwhelming in order to experience gems such as Steel Medulla, Longbow Synthesis, and Party Crasher :)

D1 was so long ago . I only remember going through the house of wolves campaign, acquiring the new supers in taken king, getting my only seventh column with stormcaller warlock and walking around in the dreadnought with my tlaloc. Thank you so much for this .

Was told about destiny when a friend started playing it, half a year later, I finally got my hands on the game. It was the first gun game I'd ever played, and I was mesmerized. The only things I had played until then were Nintendo games 😅

I will say that Destiny has been the only game I’ve played the longest of any game. Since day 1 of D1 I’ve been playing. I would find a group of friends early on in D1 that I’ve stayed in contact with to this day. I will continue to play this game because it has impacted me a lot, not emotionally, but in connecting me with what seems to be life long friends.
Wow this hit hard. Playing in this current D2 sandbox and watching this now is such a trip. I know I wont ever get my self rez back but with that much special ammo in D1 makes it not so bad compared if we have self rez in D2. It would be a menace.

There is no two ways about it.Destiny 1 SirD was the undisputed best player to touch the game.Seeing this and being able to recognize what clips were in the montage Lies just brought tears to my eyes.Destiny 1 and the memories that came along on late nights that consisted of SirD videos and this game with my big brother will always be fond memories of a simpler time.

Nostalgia always to the max with d1. But one thing for sure for me , as a viewer d1 trials matches were always way more enjoyable to watch vs d2 trials. From the wish matches, lucky and buttwipe 1v3, kjhovey, to just old matches like this one.

I wish there was a way to play D1 cross play and on PC so I could play with my brother.

Nostalgia always to the max with d1. But one thing for sure for me , as a viewer d1 trials matches were always way more enjoyable to watch vs d2 trials. From the wish matches, lucky and buttwipe 1v3, kjhovey, to just old matches like this one.
The transitions in the video are almost as impressive as the gameplay. Such a great nostalgia trip
