A's are great. But one thing my instructor told our class when I was in nursing school (yes, I am a nurse now) is that ANYONE can pass a test just from memorizing information. However, a great nurse knows how to apply what they have learned. There are plenty of people I graduated with that made a couple of A's but I refused to let them even take my temperature honey! SKILLS, SKILLS, SKILLS!!! Stop beating yourself up if you make a C. I made A's and B's. I made one c in fundamentals. HOWEVER, I paid more attention to my skills! But I am a great nurse, not to toot my own horn..... but.... BEEP! BEEP!
You had me dying when you said they can't even take your temperature 😂😂😂. I feel you on that one because I work as a PCA in a hospital and I be looking at some of these nurses like who gave you your license and why??? I start nursing in the fall and I'm so scared, but I look at some of these nurses and I say to myself " if they passed nurses school I know I can".
@leray King your statement is true but also shows you did not listen to the video. She says A's don't make a great nurse, so she is not ruling that getting A is the only way.
I *ALMOST* got a 4.0 last semester. I have to get a 95% for a solid A (not sure what your grading scale is like) but I was happy with a 3.8 since I have two young children. Great job! Agree that you don’t need straight A’s to be a great nurse but if you want to pursue grad school, good grades are important! I hold myself to high standards too so I feel your struggle!!
Nurse Lexi I’m so jealous! Our grading scale is horrible lol. I always get 93’s or 94’s so I’m always right there and it’s frustrating! And thank you! I work very hard haha
AlyssaAllDay what are some tips to get such high scores in nursing school. I study so hard but seem to never get out of the C nurse/bare minimum student phase

First of all *she studied extremely hard. She worked really hard. It takes hard work to do very well in nursing school. But also make time for fun while you’re working that hard.* 1st Tip - Figure out what type of learner you are. Visual, auditory, tactile. Once you find that out, tailor your studying towards that way. 2nd Tip - Different ways of studying works for different classes. Not every way of studying will be ubiquitous for every class. You may have to change it up for different classes. 3rd Tip - *Put in the time and the effort to actually study. Again, it takes a lot of hard work.* 5th Tip - Use practice questions whether they are provided in the book or you make your own. Or use your ATI books questions. 6th Tip - A whiteboard would help to study as well. To write information down multiple times. 7th Tip - Teaching someone else will really help to enforce the information. Even if it’s pretend and by yourself lol. 8th Tip - Study for exams at least 1 week before. This gives you enough time to gather notes, review them, and prepare.
I’m holding myself to high standard , because Highschool could of been better and wanna do my best in college and nursing and gain as much info as I can !!
Great tips! And making A's dont make great nurses, but it doesn't hurt to aim high. And I bought a white board, and I once I reviewed, I pretend to teach the material to a "class" in my kitchen at 4am lol
This is so helpful! I start nursing school in January, and I definitely appreciate this video. You speak clearly and concise, best of luck with your nursing endeavors (:
You are gorgeous and your tips were very helpful!! Wish I had this video when I first started my nursing school journey!!! Congrats on your 4.0 semester(:
Your hair is beautiful! And thank you for the tips. I’m in my first semester of nursing school and I literally go to class, go home, eat, and study. I study with a small group as well. Just trying to hang in there. Evolve and ATI helps me too, I love the practice questions!
I think if you don't need to get a job, 100% don't work and do school. If you do have to work, I would suggest getting a planner and practicing time management. Having a planner is helping me so much with figuring out when to study and making sure you have the time to do everything.
Saphear M it’s been 2 moths for me and I’m just now had a break down it’s hard keeping up with everything in a short amount of time but I know if we really want it bad we can all graduate

Kudos to you for having a day off from studying every now and then! When I was incredibly motivated during a length of time in school, I would study so much and live on only a few hours of sleep! I don't recommend doing that in the long-term, especially if one has great difficulty encoding information from a developmental delay. I had a delay, and a doctor told me I shouldn't have been in school. I miserably paid for my high grades, which I won't get into to. A tip I have, if it's controllable, is to take only as many classes as one can handle in terms of time, etc. An exception would be some university programs with predetermined course numbers.
Thank you... I wish there are more people like you who like to help others and shine some intuition to striving students who have failed the Nclex. My first attempt for the exam was early June of 2020. I’ve studied Saunders and illustrated study guide Nclex-RN exam. My first self assessment on Saunders was 68% and last assessment I scored 74%. I didn’t study much on the illustrated study guide because I thought I was doing well. Took the Nclex exam and I answered 130 questions but failed. I was so devastated. After couple of days tried studying something else and this time it was Hurst review. It took me more than a month to finish the entire course. I followed their instructions step by step. Took some notes and did the assessment and ended with 68%. I scheduled for my second attempt for Nclex and to my surprise my computer shut off at 60 question. I was so confident I passed until two days later I found out i failed. The second attempt and second fail. Didn’t know what to do next after that except to cry and pray.... - [ ] My third attempt was actually a success I worked with Nclex solutions and I was shocked to discover I kept making the same mistake over and over that was my problem... Some times all we need is not only a change in study materials but help from professional or other students that have passed.... you can get help from Nclex solution like I did.... I seem to learn best with using flashcards, it worked for me in a&p and Micro as well. My problem is I don't know any other ways to study. Thank you!
I literally did these and all other types of sensory learning strategies; but overall I have failed. I have never expirience so much despair. How do you get through Nursing School if you do not have lectures to fall back on? In the program I’m in, lectures are rare and I find it so hard not have much notes to review before an exam.

Where in Evolve did you find the practice questions? I have Evolve as well but only saw like 4-5 "NCLEX style" questions.
I have thr Nclex book and i register the book and i see the practice questions.
If you search by topic on Evolve you can also download free resources and they’ll have practice questions
