Too late for this, but I've learned if you're painting (or even glueing on) a shiny book cover, it can really help if you use a sanding block (or piece of sanding paper) on the cover first. It creates a rougher surface, which is easier for the paint to grab hold of

If you have Tim Holtz distress medium it has an aging yellow tint to it but it is a good way to seal painted book covers. Great progress on the cover!

I think painting it was a great idea! I agree get rid of that dark border. You can use clear matt medium to seal it in enough to stay in your craft room.

Love the idea though! I think I'll do the same with my altered book, for the longest time I thought of just covering it with stickers, but it doesn't really suit
