Oh, my goodness! I’m watching this right now because I’m curious about altered books as junk journals. I’m new to this although I have loved ephemera all my life and have saved all sorts of things for potential future use for years. I turned 76 on December 12. Anyway, you just mentioned peeling the other two layers off that beautiful napkin. So I paused your video, reached down beside my chair and pulled from one of my medium-sized bins a paper napkin that I’ve had for I don’t know how long. An abstract of various greens on white, the greens in shapes juxtaposed to bring to mind olives. I looked at a corner, saw two layers, and separated them. What fun! Now back to part two of this series on your UA-cam channel. Thank you!
I'm so inspired by your process, Meg. Every time I see you do something, I think "that was so simple and effortless. Why do I make everything so hard?" lol! Thank you for sharing. I look forward to future videos featuring this altered book journal!
Enjoy watching this process. I am transforming a book as well right now. I love looking at the scraps of paper and seeing them being used. I walked through a relative’s garage recently and saw a box of books for resale. She was so sweet to let me take two 😊
Brilliant Meg! It is so lovely!I love the layers you added, the tuck spots, and how you incorporated the floral pictures from the pages you removed from the book into base layers. Your journal is off to a strong start and I look forward to seeing what you create together.
As a gardener who keeps a detailed journal, I went apoplectic when I saw you alter the cover and paper over the beautiful green pages! It wasn’t the type of journal I would have used, but oh, the cover and green panels. But you do you and have fun!
This was so fun to watch! Love to use up scraps in different ways. Now to find a book I could alter 😍! Would love to see more of how you finish other pages along with journaling in you book! TFS 🧡
This is awesome. I got inspired from part 1 of this series that i have started my own altered book out of an art class college book. I was wondering on what to do with the text and this part really helped me determine what my next step is.
I really enjoyed watching your process with this. I've learnt a lot from making your accordion journal with patch working papers together and this is great because it's answered a problem I hit yesterday whilst doing my journal. I had an image I didn't like part of and was torn about covering it but it stuck out like a sore thumb. I used washi tape in the end to bring that colour into the rest of the page and also journaled over it. It's not my favourite page, but next time I now know what to do. I'd love to see a part 2 of your process as it's so relaxing to watch x
Absolutely loving this Altered Book series Meg! Now I want to go buy more gardening books lol 😄 just kidding. Your videos are so inspiring and you make everything look so effortlessly beautiful! Thank you again for a brilliant series ❤🌹💞
Meg: I like your idea of laying neutral layers on pics or text you don’t want so you’re ready to add embellishments and journaling. Good thinking for creating. Carol from California
I'm learning so much! I've just finished an altered book, my first one..I've used printables and collaged and created some pockets. I called it my blue book because all the pages contain some blue. I would like to make an other one which will be my green book...love these two colours! Thank you for the inspiration 💗
This is fantastic! I enjoyed the sound of the papers and I love the neutrals you are using. I did my first altered book exactly the same way you did it: using the pages and elevate them where inspiration takes you. Mine looks a little bit chunky but all my friends loved it!
Hi Meg, I am really enjoying watching you create this journal, I am working in one made out of the well known company packaging, but this looks like my next journal just have to find a suitable book.x
This is very exciting. You’ve got me hooked, I’m going to have to try something similar. I even have a book in mind. It’s the national trust nature companion. Thank you.
While I was watching I actually really did some craft! I made so stickers and new mask for my collection (like costume mask and stuff) and I really wanna do journaling and I think Ur channel is really helpful for this and I really love it :]
It really bothers me to see you gluing over the pictures. I mean, I can't finish the video because I can't watch you covering the pictures, which have so much artistic potential, in favor of plain text. Couldn't you find a book with only text? I would LOVE to have a book like that to use. I do like the look you are achieving, but I wish you'd use other materials.

So helpful following through with the thought process of why/how you prep your book journal!!!
Such a great idea to create pockets with the existing pages. What an easy way to create a journal! I can’t wait to see what’s next!!
Thanks so much - we love easy and quick over here haha

HI Meg, Happy I found this, as I have decided to play with an altered book for JJJ 2023. Thanks for the ideas x
Tq for sharing! Would love to see what you write in this journal!!!
Thank you for sharing. This will be so helpful in creating my journal. So clever. Have a blessed day 🙂.
I love this idea of covering just the part you don’t like. It adds character to the journal. Lots of great ideas in this series so far.

Something to respond to.

What a great idea.. super cool 👍🏻
I usually work in my journal while watching these videos. I think of it as a junk journal but it's way more modern than these vintage junk jounals.

Thanks Carol! I find it so much easier to work with a base and something already on the page 😊
I'm going to do that in my journal because seeing your videos I've realised it's easier for me if I have a base :)
Takes the stress out of what to do with a page, or how to decorate a page. Thank you
Yeah go part 2!!!

Sounds like a great project!!
Loving this series! Just made a rookie error though and made my pages too wet when I tea stained them and the book fell apart!!!
While I was watching I actually really did some craft! I made so stickers and new mask for my collection (like costume mask and stuff) and I really wanna do journaling and I think Ur channel is really helpful for this and I really love it :]
That sounds awesome!! Very talented!
Takk!
Thank you!!🥰
Lovely 😍😍
Thank you!! 🥰
Nice! You may want to start from the back now. The spine tends to warp if you don’t. Love 6our videos! 😘
How did you tea/coffee dye your book? Did you use a spray bottle?
I just painted it using a paint brush! More info in the first video here: ua-cam.com/video/lulyUXyk3Dk/v-deo.html
You covered the mushrooms. :c
What did the mushrooms ever do to you?
what do u have against tools
Did you tea dye this book?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! You can totally use just a plain text book for your altered book. I'm enjoying working in this book :)
