If you gotta make sure people see you shifting gears and leave your Jake on 24/7 even empty or bobtailing and you think your cool, that's not what cool people do, cool people don't need to draw attention to themselves or drive around thinking they are high and mighty and better than any driver on the road

30+ years now retired at 65 miss the sound, open road, friends I've met along the way I am now 80. Now trucks so many automatic, your running is what we had from Macks 2 sticks, all the way though from 12-13-15 speeds. My favorite was the 13 speed. Keep it up and Drive safe
My uncle was a trucker, and I was a captain for a major cargo airline. We were both freightdogs and spoke the same language. Eat, sleep & run, and do it all over again. Love the truck brother.

Awesome video! I was born and raised in Houston and grew up riding passenger in my dads freightliner. This video brought back memories. Even as an adult, i still feel like a kid inside when i see a nice truck like yours.
I grew up in the 70's and love big rigs as a kid. I watched movies like "convoy" "Smokey and The Bandit" and "Duel" when they would come on t.v. I would pretend that I was driving the truck as I watched the movie, and made a "shift stick" from one of mom's toilet plungers 🪠 and a broom stick. I never did become a trucker, but still love all trucks.

Just curious, I have an 18 speed as well… noticed you using the side range selector where you select the higher gear then bump to neutral and go back to gear. In mine I select the gear then speed up a bit and just let off the throttle and it automatically goes to the higher gear. Was wondering if we just have 2 different ways we learned ? I’ve been in an 18 speed for about 6 months now… so still newer. If there’s a better way I’m just interested in learning. That’s a nice truck. I know this post is probably 2 years late, but I hope you still have it lol

I am a new joiner, I used to drive for 15 years but my lower back took it away from me. But watching your videos makes me miss my pete and fun times. Things are a lot different now though, I miss the days of the truck stop round tables.

That looks like a 13. He doesn't appear to be splitting the lower gears.

Only time you need to use the clutch is starting out and coming to a stop.
