@Abrasax Palante I don't think you understand the coding behind video games, the small maps in games are a compromise they have to make to get the game to run smoothly in a lot of cases, if they don't, they will end up with a very laggy game like the Arma series, which does actually have realistic weapons and bullet physics, with small maps you need to have massive bullet drop to make the game somewhat challenging, or ditch the projectile concept completely in favor of hitscan. Insurgency: sandstorm has small maps and you can barely notice the fact that the guns even are projectile based in the first place, because of the realistic bullet velocity.
Lmao yeah in single player. Play some multiplayer games with big maps if you want realisticish bullet trajectory

As you can see the shovel doesn't stick in this tree when I throw it at it and it doesn't make the same noise and my shovel is made out of stainless steel with an extra comfort grip because I have money dude and the speed of the shovel in real life is 0.543 seconds off the one in game how could they mess that up so bad dude I have a top of the range digmax 2299 and it still doesn't go as fast as the games regular shitty shovel dude and guess what my arms are dead after 4 hits with this thing and the one in game keeps swinging until it breaks and my digmax 2299 don't even have a dent dude so unrealistic

Disappointed at the lack of mentioning that he doesn't cycle the 45/70 after you empty it. The gun is just magically chambered, some how.
Maybe he's just some god who somehow never fires his last shot, thus removing the need to charge it?

Arma 3 is great, but the selection of guns from the vanilla game (No mods) are almost all really strange. Caseless, or proprietary cartridges that would be difficult to compare to real life.

dope malone famous franchises are very difficult to change the mechanical bases, many dev do the same but next time bigger and better, I see no problem there, the only franchise that changes radically was GoW (and the Zelda franchise) because Kratos is its essence beyond its mechanics
Well, that's quite interesting. Far Cry 2 was the only one I've played so far, so I can't argue about that specific franchise, but from my experience with games in general you're wrong. Take a look at NFS, GTA, AC (old ones, or Origins), MG, Witcher - these games were developed by huge companies and yet they kept on evolving and changing gameplay-wise. Of course it's easier (and safier - every bigger change made to a well-known game is a risk) to just copy-paste a title, update the graphics, think of some new, often shitty story and call it a new experience. Oh, and let's not forget about dozens of paid DLC's, released like one week after the original title. Yet, there still are big companies who take time and effort into making every single of their games an unique experience, and these are the only ones that I personally play.

It's not a milsim, it's an arcady FPS that doesn't claim to make real representations of anything. Not that hard to figure out.

The lack of realistic ballistics in this game really killed it for me. If I shoot a bad guy in the head four times at point blank range, I expect them to go down.

Fatal Sh0t Gaming You're still proving my point. Heavies take multiple headshots to put down, especially flamethrower heavies. If you shoot them anywhere else, it could take more than one mag to kill them. Doesn't that seem excessive? You can also add animals to that category. Animals in the game seem to be more tanky than humans. Even if you shoot them through the brain, they shrug it off like nothing. It really ticks me off.

The 45/70 in game is a Winchester... Look at the side of the receiver.
And, really, the stats in Far Cry have always been hit-or-miss. Early in the game, I used a 45/70 as a sniper rifle, and a 44 Magnum with a hunting scope like a carbine. That's not so far-fetched. What IS far-fetched is shooting a Heavy with a FIFTY-CAL, in the HEAD, and having him turn around and kill you with three rounds of 308. Far Cry 5 is, at times, an enormously frustrating and confusing game...And I haven't even finished the Henbane River campaign! Faith Seed is so effing weird...

Technically the 45-70 in the game is modeled after the marlin 1894 which is chambered is 44 mag. The winchester 45-70 only loads from the side while it ejects from the top. The design of the bolt in farcry is a side eject.

Either way, it's a good gun in-game. A 45-70T was my go-to suppressed rifle for the last quarter of the game...

@Han Lockhart beat me to it....I'd rather have to compensate for recoil or burst/tap fire...don't know if you've heard of S.T.A.L.K.E.R, with mods to polish up the animations and sounds, the gunplay is great...would strongly recommend it if you like that challenging and realistic feel with good recoil.

Han Lockhart Dude, it is Far Cry. It is meant to be a shoot em up/run n gun game. You want a realistic game gunplay wise? Try R6 Siege, it’s made by the same design studio, but you have to actually learn recoil patterns, have trigger discipline, and actively compensate for recoil, and even learn the recoil to help line up for more targets. That is what a realistic gun game should be. But Far Cry never claimed to be realistic, R6 Siege did.

A few months ago they cranked up the damaged of the 45/70. Now it's a real fun cowboy rifle to use. With sound suppressor it has a nice metallic clack to it.

This was my biggest complaint with far cry 5. Far cry 4 every weapon felt unique and situation specific. In Far Cry 5, so many seem basically exactly the same

I didnt want Farcry to be realistic, but the weapons were very disappointing to me at least, like he said, lack of variety for a shooter game, and an AR should feel more powerful than the games version, not for realism, but because its an automatic rifle in 556, i expected the weapon to be more impactful, also, every modern game is filled with tons of attachments and optics, which i dont think that makes the game more fun, why cant we have that MAC smg just with iron sights like it should be, makes every weapon feel like a toy gun.

The AK is alot better, however the enemies are on some serious drugs.

AR-15 isn't automatic, it's just semi-auto chambered in .22. The AR-C is more like an M-16, which was also originally made by Armalite and later sold to Colt. Its similarity to the AR-15 is likely due to the similarity between the AR-15 and M16.
The UA-cam Phantom Official The closest thing I can find to the AR-C in real life is the Mega arms MATEN 308. winchester rifle (hence the lack of a forward assist). It also has a raptor charging handle and the magwell is swapped out for a 5.56 mm one

Yeh that Browning M2HB 50cal is a big fail, the M2, M1919, M1917, ANM2, M3 and even most other non-browning crew served MG's eject brass out the bottom of the receiver, and only links come out the side of the feedway.

Uh honestly, as someone who loves to nitpick guns and weapons in general in media, I find this is really nitpicky. Sidenote, SMG-11/Mac-11 has lower damage to balance it, You can't nitpick game design. It's the same case with the P226, It has that damage to balance it against the SMG-11. IMO the only really good point you made as per the gun stats was the lackluster damage of the M4/ACR/ARC.

In Far Cry 5, all of the guns somehow fire a subsonic bullet, even .50 cal M2 Brownings and shotgun buckshot. The ballistics are so ridiculous, that if you're carefully aiming a .50cal sniper shot, the enemy can randomly move and the bullet will miss him. That's retarded, also the extremely short range of all weapons, even assault and sniper rifles.
I really don't get any ACR out of the AR-C. The far cry gun is more of a Daniel Defense.
Looks like a VLTOR MUR-1 and a MEGA lower with a DD MFR XS.
There's no Daniel Defense here. The DD RIS rail system can mount to a standard forged or billet AR upper using their proprietary barrel nut. The AR-C in the game has an upper and rail system that bolt DIRECTLY together like the Larue Ultimate uppers.
The receiver is a Mega Arms MATEN .308 billet ambi upper and lower, they've just changed the magwell. Most obvious sign of it being based on a 308 is that it has no forward assist.

Far Cry 3 and 4 had the POF P416 as one of the top tier assault rifles. Not sure why they went with this made up version in 5.

Yup, that's how they encourage you to use the other weapons. Despite this, i mainly run with the AR-C over the others as i am an AR15 fan and it looks amazing by time im done modding it.
I'm sure your aware they have to contract the engagement distances in a game vs. real life in order for there to be viable game play (hence the 900 fps real world equivalent velocity and reduced range of the ACR.) I agree the identical "damage" of the 226 and the ACR seems like a legit criticism
In Far Cry 5, all of the guns somehow fire a subsonic bullet, even .50 cal M2 Brownings and shotgun buckshot. The ballistics are so ridiculous, that if you're carefully aiming a .50cal sniper shot, the enemy can randomly move and the bullet will miss him. That's retarded, also the extremely short range of all weapons, even assault and sniper rifles.
Hey, you forgot to mention the fact that absolutely nowhere does it say that the AR-C is a 5.56, you can purchase 9mm variations of the gun, also, it has a way shorter barrel than the AR-15 or "ACR", which points to it being a "Pistol", also there is an M-16 available with the Vietnam DLC, and the p226 mag most likely is a single stacked, or somewhat rare magazine. Also, ventilation DENTS not "Holes"

Rainbow Six Siege is really good at firearms, sounds damage etc. not that important, important is well looking realistic reloading animations i love in this game

in Call of Duty or Battlefield you need like 3-6 shoots to kill in most of situations, in Rainbow Six Siege mostly 3-4, anyway, in classic Rainbow Six 1-2 bullets no matter what gun, and you dead

I am so used to using one shot long range rifles in games, I never try the medium caliber rifles

How come.... Do video games keep forgetting the concept of a chamber still having a round as they reload a almost empty mag.? I thought once Battlefield pointed that out we would see this being introduced as a thing in more games. This shouldn't be something treated as, "Oh that wouldn't be fair." That's not really a big advantage and it helps make more civilians (like kids) that do not have much experience or knowledge about guns to be aware of the possibility of seeing a random gun might still be loaded dangerous, even if there appears to be no magazine loaded inside. I think this would help slightly prevent more accidents as a result. It's small, but the little things do help sometimes. Especially little things compiled over time adding up.
I think it's because developement time is very limited and things like the story and gameplay carry is more importance than small details like weapon handling that not many will notice

Seriously, showing kids, and a few adults to treat a gun as loaded in any situation, would be a great thing. I wouldnt mind an imperceptibly small dip in graphics quality to see your allies order you to put down your gun if you point it at them, and even shoot you if you keep doing it. I mean, its not enough to know to treat a gun as loaded, you have to have the reaction of keeping it pointed somewhere else even without noticing.

Yeah it's especially annoying with animals. Put 9 rifle rounds into a cougar and it still managed to rip my throat up.

The AR-C is more based on the Remington R4-Enhanced than anything else, far from fictitious. The ballistics ingame are due to balancing, common in many, many shooters (although the 45-70 is really strange, the LMGs are busted as well).

It's a Daniel Defense based handguard, sure (old six-bolt Bolt-Up), but the receiver is a Mega Arms MATEN 308 ambi with a 223 magwell fucked onto it.
speaking of ignorance of guns, look at the fresh ammo on a belt for a Machine gun and see that the ammo primers are drawn as used. New ammo has no firing pin indention vs fired ammo with the indention on the primer. What could you expect from Canadian Developers who live under such restrictive gun laws.
The AR-C in Far Cry is more comparable to the mk 18, with AR-CL being a full length barrel. It looks nothing like an ACR, with it’s slim mlok barrel shroud. It looks like a typical AR that most of us own.

I really wish you could move the weapon from your face, i can't stealth with my AK due to the thing taking up a good half of the screen when crouched and even when i'm holding my pistol, it still takes up about 20-25% of the screen.

They got the lever gun wrong because they mislabelled it. The one in game seems modelled after the marlin 1894 and not the 1895. This means that it isn’t a .45-70 because if we go off of the gun’s design and label it correctly as a model 1894, then the rifle is actually chambered in one of three pistol calibers; .45 lc, .357mag/.38 spcl, .44mag/.44 spcl. That might explain why the ballistics are all off. (then again they are just game developers so we can’t really trust them in getting these things right all the time). That also means that you should not use your 1895 for comparison since the one in game is a ‘94. The developers probably just heard the name “45-70” and thought it was just a common name for most lever guns.
they also call the full auto ARC a "semi automatic rifle" not very savvy
Maybe the protagonist in the game is just better suited to using guns so recoil isnt that big a deal for them since they're used to it? :D

Key difference is that the AR-C doesn't have a forward assist. That's because the AR-10 pattern doesn't have one, and it's mostly found on .308 ARs including the .308 MATEN.
I'm pretty sure Far Cry wouldn't be a great game if they made it extremely realistic. Players are fine with this game being itself.

Far cry 5 was pretty awesome when I first played I was blown away by the graphics lol and the gameplay was so fluid and driving was easy it’s an all around great game
