Who could dislike this--a flawless performance by three great musicians. There's always one dipstick who can't hear perfection if it screamed in his ear.
He's definitely my favorite bass player. I've never heard anyone else who could sound this way, there are legions of players where I can hear only the attack and no sound after. But when I listen to him, I finally know that bass can sound and make a real music melodies.
Mraz's soloing is so clear he's not just diddling around on the neck he's playing exactly what he wants to play, I could listen to him solo by himself for hours and that's not something you can say for most bass players when it comes to soloing, even the most of the greats. The only other person I can think of that has such melodic wonderful solos is Eddie Gomez
For lovers of this tune / Alternate version of this arrangement now posted on my site: Lewis Nash - drums, Peter Washington - bass, Renee Rosnes - piano, Jimmy Greene - tenor and soprano saxophone, Jeremy Pelt - trumpet and flugelhorn
Tommy Flanagan, OMG! Funny, he doesn't take a lot of chances with harmony or rhythm but his voicings are so charming and lovely. He's very good at varying his style so he never appears repetitive and he's always interesting. This guy and Kenny Drew are the two best I know of, right now. Benny Green emulates both of them too.
Flanagan and Mraz ... magic!
RIP George Mraz Such a loss to jazz.

4:20...Flanagan quotes lullaby of the leaves....Mraz continues it. So smooth and sweet this communication.
Chills Every Time❤️thankyou
Yes
You're right mate.
Favorite Upright Bass Player! - A Phenom.
George is a monster, was lucky to see him live half a dozen times or so when I was living in NYC.
Magnifico trio tremendo contratista George Mraz!!

Quoted Nica's Dream.
이 사람보고 있으면 리듬감이 절로 느껴짐. 강약이 제대로 표현됨. 그러면서도 물 흐르듯. 미쳤다...
Molto bravo Mraz

Che mostri!
His first instrument was the violin. George can also play Bach pieces on the piano. Ears! :-)
I can tell by your Avatar Qusomiso, we have a lot in common! Thanks for the video... Good stuff.
Tasty pianist like Hank Jones.
The quote after the bass solo is Manteca.
Badass bass solo - and while we're mentioning quotes, did anyone else notice Birks' Works during the drum tradeoffs at 7:20 ?
Of course, very nice how he slipped that in there. Tommy is an expert at weaving his songs into stories that carry you on a happy journey
