I would like to extend to you my sincere condolences for the loss of your beloved wife. I can only hope that you will be able to find some semblance of joy this Christmas season. Perhaps while thinking about all of the happy memories that you and your wife created together throughout 49 Christmas holidays in a row. Few married couples make it through 4 years... much less 49 of them. I'm sure she's preparing a place for you and her for that moment somewhere in the future when God the Creator calls you home also.

I lost my wife of 49 years... 7 years ago on June 30, as well. Our anniversary was August 17. I will try to decorate for Christmas the way we have always done in our past but last year I didn't decorate or put up a tree and it just wasn't the same. This year I will put up everything, with all of the outside lights the way we always have done in the past and I will put up her small tree with blue LED lights (her favorite) just for her memory. I will be with her again when I leave here. My sincere condolences for the loss of your beloved wife.
This song should have had a disclaimer - bring tissues. Katie got us all warm and cozy and then took us in an unexpected direction. The line about learning to let go hit me hard having lost my mother and brother this past year. It's a beautiful song but I don't think I can listen to it again - not yet.

Katie, your new song really touched my heart. Three months ago we lost our daughter Julie Anna to kidney failure. She was only forty-one years old. She was in hospice at our home for a year and three weeks. One good thing, Julie loved the Lord Jesus with all of her heart. She was surrounded by her family when she went home to be with our Lord. Your song touched us as this will be the first time our Julie will not be with us Thanksgiving and Christmas, which was her favorite time of the year. Thank you so much for blessing us with this beautiful song. God Bless you and your beautiful family. We love you.
What a really AMAZING CHRISTMAS SONG by Katie, which so truly states that the greatest gifts are not those expensive Material things bought with a lot of money, but rather love, friendship and family and the priceless and irreplaceable fellowship shared with those we love! Wow!!! ❤ this beautiful Christmas song!!! Should be played on every radio/streaming platform out there. In 2017 my oldest brother passed. Since then my nephew and parents have gone to be with Jesus. Mom went this year. Our Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings are getting smaller and the absence of each precious soul is deeply felt. This will be my first holiday season without either parent. This song expresses well the sorrow of missing someone who has passed on and also the joy of all the memories we carry with us.
The first snow is starting to fall,I came from outside and found this beautiful song.Katie's original songs are like echoes of her soul, beautiful and emotional.

We were just at your show in Cincinnati and heard Katie tell the story of how she wrote this song. First, thanks to Ellen for suggesting that Katie should try to finish it. Then thanks for Katie for finishing it. It's instantly become one of my favorite songs. There were so so many people tearing up during this song at this show. My wife included.

This is one of those songs that can mean something different for everyone. We just had to put our cat of 13 years to sleep last week, very unexpectedly. So this Christmas, when I listen to this song, I will be thinking of him.
The verse with "hanging your picture and making popcorn." Wasn't ready for that. Made me miss my Mom. Made me not want that to be either me or my wife one day. Such a beautiful song.

OK, you got me with this one. Bawling like a baby. We married on 23 December 1972. She passed on 15 December 2006. I miss her so much. It's especially difficult this time of year. Thank you for touching my heart with your precious lyrics, sweet voices, and wonderful instruments. You are blessed, and you are blessings. Clearly, Katie's heart comprehends the joys and tears that weave two lives as one. Thank you.

I normally don't listen to Christmas Music/Songs until the day after Thanksgiving. But, this song is beautiful and worth listening to before then.
There is NOTHING that says "HAPPY HOLIDAYS" more than FAMILY and when you mix MUSIC and FAMILY together.....you have....THE AWESOME PETERSENS!!!

Such a beautiful song! I heard it live in Santa Barbara the other night, and it was great to hear the non-piano version, as nice as this is. Also, I don't know how else to get a message to you, but the whole concert was a delight, and I was not at all surprised to see nearly everyone lining up to meet you after the show. We needed to get people home, or I would have stayed to tell you all how much fun the show was.
ALSO, super cool that your merch is priced so reasonably, as were the tickets to the show! I bought 2 CDs and a shirt. Come back to Santa Barbara any time!

Oh Lord, that's so powerful. My life is in the second verse yet, happier than ever. But I must admit the more I fear when the following verses come... I hope I manage to still be grateful when life stops bringing only joy and Christmas becomes mainly a time of remembrance.

I love the new Christmas song. I am a big Petersen's bluegrass fan.. My husband and I saw the show in early October in Branson. We watched them for the last 14 years, on every time we visited Branson. Who knew it would be his last time. He was 88 this year . He died at home the week we returned from Branson. This will be my first Christmas without Roger after we shared 24 Christmas times together. Thank you Katie, for your music. 🎼🎶♥♥

Katie, I am still overwhelmingly impressed at your talent and your soul. I was in Branson in October but your Thursday show didn't happen. I really wanted to meet you and get a feel for the person who writes so well. In another generation, I would have found a way to meet you and experience the talent and spirituality first hand. I am a Christian husband, father, and grandfather now. I married a wonderful woman. I bet you will be an awesome wife to and extremely blessed man someday. (if not already) Thank you for what you do, and God bless your parents for fostering your talent. Now I need to break out the Gibson and learn this treasure.

Dear ones,Jolene and I were talking on our way home Monday morning about what a wonderful concert you all gave in Council Bluffs Sunday night. I always dreaded doing meet and greets after a show but you all were so kind and delightful. This song of yours is really something special. You have written some very clever lyrics in the past but these words are unique. Not only are they inspired,but I can tell you after nearly 30 years of preparing sermons that I recognize Divine inspiration when I hear it. His Spirit of love and compassion flow through this song and I believe that it will be used greatly to touch the hearts and lives of people around the world. Blessings, and Happy Holidays.

I’m so glad you played this in Grapevine, even if it was hard for me to listen to. All I can do is think about all the people in my life who I’ve lost over the years, and this song makes me recall that. I would have told you this in Grapevine, but I had to go get the car because parking was crazy and I was with my elderly mother who can’t walk far anymore. As we all get older, this song will hit harder. Christmas was so joyous when I was younger and now it’s a reminder of all that was lost. You did such a great job creating this song. It’s beautiful and it’s good to remember that for a lot of people December can bring back a lot of sadness in our lives and this song captures that feeling. Hope to see another show of yours in Branson and hopefully another Grapevine show next year.
