Why do all programmer's lives have such a dark theme to them LOL
It's because programmers usually set dark themes for their enviroments. And when the majority of your screen is dark you don't want the part of the screen with the camera to be too bright, so they adjust. :)

Considering you're working 8 or more hours a day staring at a screen, the white background can really strain your eyes. Especially for those who are working late, it really helps a lot.

I'm usually against tinted UI because your eyes will adjust to it - messing up your color perception. This will (in this case) result in your colorchoice to also get a blueish tint because for example default gray looks yellow with the blue UI around it. Blue accents are ok - just not the tint over the whole UI.
