very good segue you two are definitely LTT level, now step it up again to a rich rebuilds and you will be set!
What is your wedding ring made of Jared?
Fredvarish talks ball ends with his grandma
u wont save $1,250 on average on insurance......lmao...........mabye...................$100-$300..if that with less coverage.......on average........$1,250.....lmao...no.......awesome vids btw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! besides this sponser...the newly added welding/fab type stuff turns this already good channel to even better yet.....subbed btw....!
Any updates coming on this? I love the SC and putting that engine in one sounds like a great idea!
"Just avoid crashing." Sage advice from Mr. Pink.
Freddy's and Jared's segue ways into their sponsors are seriously competing against Linus's lol
How many f people follow LMG??? Daim people calm down 😅
Really dude 😂
Right? I was like "Did Linus write this segue?".
But, as much as I love Freddie and Jared, Robert Dunn (Aging Wheels) does the best sponsor spots.
Rich rebuilds does a really good job too
Add some gussets to brace the interior 90° sections.
Vibration, Jared... it doesn't take drastic movements like you talked about... it only takes constant application of vibrations to begin stress cracks that lead to failure. Seriously... with all you have already done, just a couple of inside radiused corner gussets from some sturdy aluminum, and you can be free from all the dummies out here who know nothing. You have to accept the forces added by the steering rack... it alllll adds up.
"Making dumb choices"... one is thinking nobody else might have had training and/or experiences different than yours.
Jared: "Welcome back to the past, the future technically, but my past...."
Me: "Oh no, I've gone cross-eyed."
My brain started to smoke at that point 🤣😂
That transition to the ad. So smooth! Just like the process of comparing insurance quotes at Policygenius...
Buying an abandoned RX7? That seems mighty sus, guys. Very specific example there.
Doesn't he have a rotary engine laying around somewhere in the shop?
Car trek hint?
@@redrum7688 Nah, we already know that Freddie's soccer star teamaker is his car for the next Car Trek. Though...maybe for the series after that? Hmm.
He said 3 RX7s...
Hey Jared some important info for you as an F owner, you will need to email Sikky and request a dipstick relocation kit/ tube from them since the OBX headers are an exact copy of the Sikky V2 headers which are discontinued but they will give you a dipstick tube if requested. Also you will need to use a pair of upstream O2 extenders and 90° defoulers also help but not really needed. Also you will need to create a 9-12in ground strap from the exhaust manifold to the transmission primarily because the OBX header flanges are thicker so you won’t be able to use the factory brackets which originally acted as a ground for the front O2 sensors which I’m sure you already knew that but that being said the ground strap is highly recommended to prevent electrical issues popping fuses. If I was able to send you photo’s of what I am speaking about then I would gladly do so but I’m not sure if you’ll even notice my comment but best of luck on the project and definitely looking forward to the finished product!
How is the quality of OBX headers compared to PPE or Sikky?
you really want some corner bracing in the underslung engine mounts as that would aid off setting any stress & give further support for the entire brace!!
This is aluminium so it doesn't matter how little the forces in this area, any amount of repeated load around a stress raiser such as a sharp internal corner like this will result in fatigue cracks and eventual structural failure of the part. Some radius-ing of the area (e.g. corner bracing) would be really, really beneficial to the long term reliability of this sub-frame
@@smythiegato kid, not being funny but your talking to a fabrication Quality technician & yes I've many years working around &/with welding, steel, aluminium, titanium & so-on.
Fatigue for such a structure isnt a huge issue 'on a standard component' this is clearly anything but & yes over time this would struggle in its current form "hence why I've mentioned corner bracing"
@@malp6280 I wasn't disagreeing with you, or trying to take anything away from your first comment. Was actually trying to add to it. Apologies for causing offence
@@smythiegato Bub, you need to apologies, you added more context to what I mentioned, I just added where I'm coming from...
Now I can add working for Cummins, building engines "yay!!" as I've found out 5minutes ago
I love the segues! You guys are getting better at it every time.
"segue"
@@stevemonkey6666 thank you
That was a good one. I was listening attentively and then...boom...ad.
I appreciate that you guys are getting into some serious fabrication with this project, keep up the good work!.
welding/fab work is always next level.....agree.....
Welds will be fine guys jarad knows what he’s doing
Is it the Honda limo or the 300zx makes you think fine ya ya your good.

“Everything is dangling”. So many gems in this one.
Man, I just binged this build and it's not done. Dang. Lets see this get finished!
Welds and geometry looks legit, bro. Nice paper napkin, aka "serviette" math!
Man has gone to the Moon And Back on Paper Napkins. 🤔
I've never heard an American use the word "serviette". 🟥🍁🟥 perhaps?

Hey guys, just awesome! I’m a Lexus IS F owner and am loving this build! Keep doing what your doing as you are both right on point with this one. Keep up the amazing work!
Man I had a shitty day and seeing you two having fun and also making this awesome conent, lifted my spirits up again! thanks guys!
It is absolutely amazing the number of MASTER Welder/Mechanic/u-name-it's that
are watching these vids to keep You two nuckleheads in line and doing things right !
After All Mr.Pink has only been doing this stuff for about 10 minutes. Right ? Maybe
You guys will be able to rebuild a badly wrecked McLaren someday ! oopps wait a
minute......... Didn't You guys already do that ?
Dwayne the editor needs more credit for how awesome these episodes are. The big moves being right on beat and just the awesome use of editing to keep everything interesting and moving nicely.
But the best part was leaving a big enough text box on the screen long enough to actually read what it said. So many videos on other channels will define stuff with small print or basically flash it on the screen for a second. But not this guy, he knows how to edit! Props Dwayne!
Wow! I am humbled by your kind comments. You obviously know something about editing and are able to appreciate what goes into the editing process. You’ve made my day! Thanks! -Duane the Editor :)
@@decaharms sorry I spelled your name wrong, I just went with how voice to text said it was spelled 🤣 I don't know too much about it, and everything I do I know thanks to Corridor Crew, but I know when it looks good. Honestly I was just watching these compared to some other videos online and could really tell the difference and it just makes the videos that much more enjoyable!
Don't tell Tavarish but I watch these for your editing, and Jared, Freddy is just there 🤣🤣 Nah you guys are all awesome, keep up the great work!
Great interview on VinWiki Tavarish loving the content as always and keep at it, the car whisperer 😉 👍 and thank you 🙏
whoever the editor is.. that square stock drop synched up with the final piano key... *chef's kiss*
I have been watching this series over the last couple of days only to find out it stopped. Please finish the season :)
Jared needs to watch those annual videos from the Bad Obsession Motorsport chaps: New brackets need CAD (cardboard aided design) before cutting metal. Project Binky is the absolute gold standard for brackets (and the slowest series on UA-cam)
"And, uh.... The good news is, that's not gonna work either" - 🤣🤣🤣 I love you Jared
You guys kill me! The SC-F is coming along great!
The mechanicals are challenging, I am waiting to see what problems the electronics present to the builders.
As an SC 400 owner, you have my best wishes for a successful outcome!
And here I am with my Lincoln swapping a MUCH newer PI 4.6 into it to replace the old and busted nPI 4.6 and realizing that the intake and Maf I got was not from the year the listing said it was...It's actually from a 2006 Police Interceptor which means its got an 80mm maf, And different wiring than what my 1999 originally had....But I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.
@@Blackinterceptor999 adtr should see pig tails for the upgrade maf
Jared man ....such a quality mechanic 👏
Car needs an "Aero-Shield" to protect the entire Undercarrage, and to help with Aerodynamics to provide better front downforce!
I love how Jared keeps using the royal 'we' when referring to all the work he's doing.
I bought one rx7 from a barn and it really has straddled the line between questionable and stupid. Still runs 🤞
Jared is a very lovely personality besides being highly professional. Huge respect
For the steering rack being lower, you can compensate this with the tie rod ends. If they mount below the spindle (bolt on top), get either longer tapered ball joint bolts or there are adapters you can buy. You want the height of the tie rod end to match the height of the inner tie rod. So if you dropped the rack 3/4", you need to drop the tie rod end 3/4". Otherwise, you get what some people call bump steer, which is where the tires change toe through the travel of the suspension. You don't want that. Now....if the tie rod ends mounted on top of the spindle ((bolt on the bottom), you can swap and simply mount from the bottom. If there's a tapered hole, you'll need to drill it out and use a ball joint where the bolt isn't tapered. You'll get right around 3/4" doing that alone.
Glad to see that this project is gaining some positive traction and moving forward another step closer to becoming a fully completed project cant wait to see how it turns out im sure its really gonna turn out great thanks for keeping us updated.
Thank you for being so entertaining! I really enjoy the silly banter and real-life mistakes.
Gusset the 90s.
Never underestimate the importance of a good gusset!
Jared: "Just avoid crashing."
I'm loving how this build is coming along. Great work, guys!
The look on Tavarish's face at 21:45 is just priceless, lol. Just the look of "Really?"
"I'm worried about the bottom of the car hitting something, so I'm going to intentionally make it lower."
In fairness, you no longer have to worry it will if you now KNOW it will.
Moar SkidPlateZ !
Seriously, you could sell Channel Branded sacrificial steel(if you want sparks) or aluminum (no sparks) underbody bars.
DaBaltimoron....I was "worried about" you actually commenting something intelligent....but alas...I was worried for nothing...
@@mark006868 are you...having trouble...breathing..?
You guys should make an F version of all the major 90s Lexus's. Would be so fucking badass to see a whole fleet with an SC, IS, GS, and LS.
Guys just a feedback from a random follower of your channel: with the knowledge and know how that you guys have, you would just blow competition away if you focus on restoring vintage cars and then tune them up. Just a feedback. Keep up the great content ✨
That was one slick transition to an ad
I love it when a questionable plan comes together.
Oh crap, the A-Team theme is now in my head and I am picturing EVERYTHING.
@@Blackinterceptor999 Hahaha, yes.
There was plenty of room on subframe to put in gussets and even box them. For peace of mind, I'd take the few hours to do it.
We need to see this car finished! Can't wait!!
Great vertical camera shots! You guys are FRESH! 👍
Well... I’ll be dipped!
Those headers and pipes are gonna sound BEASTLY!
I never knew that car work required so much of the Ole In out In out.
“Slip our nut into there”
Our shop had one of those HF band saws and we NEVER were able to get it to cut straight.
Glad I went back to watch this whole series, love it - I say you guys should use and mod the Graffiti Hood vs chopping up the nicer one. Also last I remember the SC platform was originally designed to house a V8 either way - just a smaller one compared to what was crammed in it.
Am I the only person who said "for what?" in their head when Jared said "turn down..."?
Nope!! I did too......
This is coming together very well
Good job
Hi Jared and Tarvarish nice video 📹 and workmanship
Those 4x6 band saws are supposed to cut pretty darn straight, at least with tweaking. Alternately, maybe consider a table for the porta-band?
Convert them to Tri y headers, gain a lot of ground clearance, also if you end up with room under the engine between the crossmember you might want to add another rectangular tube in between the cross member and the oil pan and add gussets on those 90’s
Let's watch you and Tavarish build a LS400 Drift Monster next!
I’m getting so excited to hear that V8 come to life in that SC
I also use my long tube headers as feelers for slight deviations in the road surface.
run the exhaust out the side... save some weight and complexity. (that's what I did on my LS400 anyway... exit for both pipes is just ahead of the RR wheel)
Grinder and paint makes me the welder I ain't. Fun episode!
Now I wanna see this with the LFA V10
man that sponsor spot was smoother than linus'
Guys I been waiting and waiting for updates on this build, I had that idea of an is F into SC and is also white, for yrs and boom u guys do it 😂, in all honesty the mooooost interesting build in the whole world. So proud 🎉
I've been waiting for it too, but sadly like Tavarish's marriage he threw it away.
@TheQuestionableGarage noooo please, don't let that be the truth, he can remarry but that build it was on an amazing path, better one than that marriage!
I was really excited for it but he declined me finishing the build
@TheQuestionableGarage the dream of that car as a finished build will for ever live in my head😭
I did the obx headers the nut of the steering column knuckle does hit you can either get a button alen or dent the header and the dipstick doesn't fit at all
Oscar's older bro is really good at this fabrication stuff.
But does he have his own T-shirt? like Oscar?
I’ve been using the term BFH for years. This was the first time I’ve heard it on the channels I watch.
Slipping nuts and mounting racks, that's what Jared does!
The puns are on point on this episode :D
I am following this channel ever since the first video, and I am really excited, as to how much "DIY" you can do when building/rebuilding/modifying a car.
Coming from Germany, where we have rather strict regulations with regard to cars - you have to go to TÜV and have them check and certify the safety of your car, before you will be allowed to drive it on a public road.
So my question is: how safe is all of this? I mean, building your own sub-frame, cutting, welding....
Maybe some other german followers can answer this: but would you actually be allowed to drive a car like this in Germany? Would you even be able to get a TÜV approval?
If you drop the rack, just level the outer tie rod when the car is on the floor, so you dont get randoms toe in and toe out when suspention is traveling.
OMG I love you guys and your tasteless commentary! We need more people who aren't afraid to just crack a joke
I wish I could see more of this build
Me too James, me too. Wanted to finish it but the former partner has issues finishing things
Grandma always said "If you've got the right ball end, it doesn't matter how long you are"...I don't know what that means, but Granny's got arthritis.
The holes that are drilled to mount the steering rack are really close to the end of you're stand off since you bright them down 3/4 inch! Like you said don't crash!!
Gerard reminds me of Ed China.....They both have immense knowledge of cars and it's always a joy listening and watching them work
As someone whose LG SuperPro headers on his Vette scrapped one too many times and tore a massive gash... might I suggest putting something sacrificial below where the headers sit?
I love cars from the early 90s and 2000s I loved the rounded shaped and flowing lines I think cars now look too aggressive and with all their sharp lines and hard angles
What about using a popnut type fastener thus allowing to box in the steering rack mounts?
Love this build!!
You guys are Awesome❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥
Jared you are a genius.
Jared finally got his own channel. Good job.
Much like the one their CEO rode; That was a killer Segway!
Love you two together! Keep it up!
NASCAR sleeping on hiring Jared
Not sure if the subframe fabrication is strong enough for the power and weight of the car and no doubt Tavarish is likely to be doing some 'questionable' driving in it which will add additional stress. Suggest adding some gussets where the sharp 90's are.
Freddy you didn’t spit on the headers for them to fit in a tight hole
You guys are filming an episode of inception with the future past clips 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
a good bump steer kit will correct any imperfections from that steering being lowered. Jared, are you tacking these things up when mocking them up? are you using the milk grinding disk for aluminum and stainless? to make a weld structurally sound, weld on both sides if possible. looking good so far💪
This video should be title "Massive work on the SC-F. Because, a ton of work has been done.
I was gonna say why can’t you just drop the hole and re-drill. 🤣🤣 Right on 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 doing a great job brother
I have always preferred electric power steering to hydraulic you can get it so much closer to the feel of a manual rack
I don't know about the only two mounting points of the steering rack being into plate, the welds are fine but even the best welds in the world won't help when your rack comes away from the sub frame.
I just started watching this and had to pause it when Jared mentions using electric power steering instead of hydraulic. Most people are not knowledgeable about electric steering. While working for a car auction company driving many makes on a large lot, I can tell you that if you have a power problem, dead battery etc you can loose all ability to turn the wheel. And I mean it will not turn at all, which could put you into a bad situation or accident. The one big plus to hydraulic is you can always still turn the wheel if you should loose your 'powered' steering, it will just take a lot of muscle. But not electric. It won't budge. You all remember that if you have electric steering. Also, a weak battery can also cause steering to lock up. Please remember this. On the lot I was scared several times and close calls when electric steering failed. Now you have been warned. Peace.
Haha, Jared I find you so funny!!! xD "Exhausted" Hehe, I was laughing! ^^
Great episode !!!! You guys make a great team !!!
1:45 hahaaa! i saw it coming love your sponsorhip transitions :D
