"It's a milkshake" Dev, you sir are the absolute best. Not only fantastic techs and of course the decks themselves. But hands down the most entertaining on delivery. Keep at er good sir.
Just a side note, the flash on aether meltdown doesnt come into play as often as you would think once it's in your graveyard since Muldrotha's ability only works during your turn. So you can't flash it back during their turn.
I really love it when a Sultai Deck feels like Sultai instead of just having their colours. This has that suitable dark feel to it which makes it feel ominous and scary. Once it's rotated out we could probably build a decent Legacy deck using this as a base too!
Great deck dev as usual, nice to see some of my personal favourite underused cards getting a time to shine. I also didnt know the scarab god had gone down in price so much, need to get my hands on one soon in case it gets back on the rise. I dont usually pay attention to standard cards being a commander player so thats why i had no idea
Hey Dev, someones probably pointed this out to you but muldrotha only works on your turns so you cant flash things in with it. love what you do here man. keep it up!
Muldrotha with Energy. Woodweavers Puzzleknots, Glint Sleave Siphoner, Demon of Dark Schemes with 1 or 2 panharmonicon. I think would be very effective. Can play Chupacabra and other ETB triggers creatures or artifacts.
I really enjoy seeing if I can identify the mix of the music clip you play in the beginning of the videos from day to day. Zelda II dungeon this time..
I have been rocking a Muldrotha Self Mill that does pretty good and is fun to play! Take a gander if you will. Sultai Muldrotha Lands 24 4 Botanical Sanctum 4 Blooming Marsh 4 Drowned Catacomb 4 Aether Hub 3 Swamp 3 Forest 2 Island Creature 30 2 The Scarab God 2 Muldrotha, the Gravetide 4 Ministry of Inquiries 4 Servent of the Conduit 4 Winding Constrictor 2 Bristling Hydra 2 Work Shaper 4 Thrashing Brontodon 3 Ravenous Chupacabbra 3 Hostage Taker Other 6 4 Push 2 Journey into Eternity SB 15 3 Siren Stormtamer 3 Kitesail Freebooter 2 Sorcerous Spyglass 2 Sylvan Awakening 2 Walk the Plank 2 Bristelingb Hydra 1 Ravenous Chupacabbra
Hey mate, loving your videos! Watching all of them. Im back into magic since 1997, used to play recurring nightmare deck, and found Muldrotha deck to be the closest to that synergy. How would you adapt this deck to when the next standard rotation happens? Thanks for your help!!
Note, that Muldrotha only lets you play things from your graveyard on your turn, so while you can cast Aether Meltdown during combat, but only on your turn, not on your opponent's.
You cannot play Aether Meltdown on other players turns from the GY. Muldrotha only allows GY manipulation on your turn. I also went the check land route instead with Woodland Cemetary, Hinterland Harbor and Drowned Catacombs, with a few fetid pools they enable all the check lands and a sole field of ruin. My decklist is a little different though. Great video.
I've been personally trying to brew something along these lines ever since Saffron caused me to be obsessed with Benefaction of Rhonas and its potential value but could never decide on what I wanted to do and gave up. So here are some thoughts: Personally, I would have gone with Branchwalker over Squire but I completely understand the decision. As well as that, I believe Jadelight Ranger specifically deserves a spot in any deck with reanimation. The value gets pants on head retarded when you're constantly recurring a creature that thins lands out of your deck and gets rid of dud cards by the pair on top of being a potential 4/3 each time. Brontodon is super important, though, which is why the choice is so hard considering you get almost as much value off of him. I'm not too keen on Banewhip. I understand that it's continuous removal and the counter alone takes care of a ton of important creatures in the format but it just strikes me as too little value. It's no worse than the chupacabra, in fact it's better, but I just find the card in general weird and generally unappealing. Maybe proxying this deck will change my mind on that. As well as those, I don't think Ballista works quite as well as I'd like it to with only one Scarab God. It's completely impossible to reanimate without bugman and 27 land seems a bit much. Squire is the only one pulling lands in this so playing it safe is probably for the best. I'm really loving all the Sultai reanimator love that's been going on lately. Good work on this one, Dev. Solid 4/5.
I play it with energy strategy and demon of dark schemes... my deck only has one muldrotha buts seekers squire is a good call.... i also run mu deck with gifted aetherborn in the main... and it helps alot against aggro...
DEV!!! First off I love your channel, I also love this deck theme, with that said I have some thoughts.I just feel your not utilizing the graveyard recursion well enough, this version does seem viable though. I have seen your affinity towards the demon. I feel using multani from dominaria might be good. I think focusing on getting cards in the yard fast and recurring them is the way to go. There is also reassembling skeletons and natures spiral. I haven't completed my version. I do know you have been waiting to use muldrotha. I focused on making a grixis deck for standard. then I will make naya then sultai. I respect your thoughts and I consider your decks very helpful and I seek incite from them. So don't think im hating. I just wanted to share with you what I thought. Keep it up, BTW why no ziggy???
Hey, Dev! I love your videos but I'm going to nit-pick you and ask; Will you please include prices on sideboard cards? Love all of your content and sorry for the OCD request, but c'mon, TCG has good prices that you can include for those cards.
I built a Muldrotha Deck in Arena with a lot of Entchantments like Song of Freyalise, Hadanas Climb, Journey to Eternity and some other cards, you didn't mention and it got me to Gold 3 today. But it hurts that Walking Balista isn't available.
I wonder if a explore theme with Muldotha and Journey to Eternity can do work. Think the G/B challenger deck shell with Jadelight Ranger, Chups McScoops, Siren Stormtamer for protection. Reanimating a Rishkar or green gearhulk seems like fun. Honestly, it kinda think the Scarab God might not neccessary. Hmm. Or even Jungleborn Pioneer. Man...youve got me brewing with a card i hadnt really given a ton of thought.
Will you do a mono black deck with dominaria cards like that new shade all the removals bone picker and gifted atherborn possibly black white shinannigins making your opponent discard kill all there creatures play all your high value creatures win
I've been building and playing Muldrotha in Arena for about 2 months now. I think most of you choices are correct, and sadly Walking Ballista is not available in Arena, but my list has a different flavor that is interesting to compare and contrast. Sadly no side board because Arena is best of 1s. This is my list: www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/1121271 Deck Tech: 4x Siren Stormtamer; this one saves the day against Settle the Wreckage and protects the big bois from removal. Sadly it doesn't protect Planeswalkers from direct damage any more. 2x Silvergill and 4x Jadelight Ranger; these are there to get up to 6 lands reliably. I often find myself with lands stuck in hand, but that's a better position to be in than the alternative. These are definitely on the cutting board, but Jadelights are important for the deck to function. 2x Deathgorge Scavenger; this is important in Arena vs graveyard decks. Most graveyard hate is symmetrical but this one isn't. It has the added benefit of gaining life against mono-red. I have 2x Thrashing Brontodon but more ways to handle enchantments overall in the main deck. I also have 2x Banewhip Punisher which is absolutely the right number and a great include. 4x Hostage Taker; the absolute best card to loop with Muldrotha. It is a bit of a late game card, I rarely play this on turn 4. It is decent against red if you can steal something cost 1 or 2, but really comes online at 8 mana where the majority of creature threats seem to be in all matchups. I'm playing 1x Vizier of the Menagerie which makes more sense in my nearly all creature build. It's a very high power card that can just go off. I'm at 3x Tatyova, Benthic Druid but I think that's likely too many. I think some number > 0 is probably correct. 2x Muldrotha, the Gravetide is absolutely the right amount, but I also have 2x Vraska, Relic Seeker main deck and it's absolutely one of the best cards. I would play at least one main deck. Song of Freyalise feels like a good include too. I'm running 2x and it seems correct. It can bring out Vraska turn 4 which is a hugely dominant play. Even replaying it with Muldrotha in the late game is a great way to get enough mana to play a Hostage Taker and the stolen card in the same turn. I never feel like more mana is wasted in this deck. Lands are a bit weak in my list because I don't have the rare wildcards for rare lands yet, but 4x Evolving Wilds is a solid include. It is so good with Muldrotha, Tatyova, Vizier, and at fixing for 3 colors that it seems like a must include to me. Some other notes: I've focused heavily on 2 colors to limit color screw. This list has a primary focus on green, secondary on blue, and tertiary on black. It often misses Siren on turn 1, but once I craft more duals that should be fixed. I really wanted Eldest Reborn to work, but it just costs too much and is too slow and is pretty awfully bad against decks that play more than 1 creature at a time. And a quick correction, you can't flash in with Muldrotha, its ability is limited to your own turns. Thanks for the deck tech, Dev!
Just played a game against you in arena using a modified version of this deck! You kicked my butt with a really cool UR Wizards tribal deck, are you going to make videos for arena decklists at all? - Hey Man Come On
Have you considered Torgaar, Famine Incarnate? He's a great sac outlet, protects your life total against aggro or reduce your opponent's, and is a big body.
not that it makes it any less important to run instants though. personally i really like cast down but i feel like you are already gonna run vraska's contempt no matter what, so whatever lower cost removal you run should try not to overlap with it. but i'm not sure i like aether meltdown as much as vicious offering. no point in the energy at least in my list, and being able to sacrifice more creatures makes cards like hostage taker better. but of course then you really need to run those seekers' squires or something so you can curve into vicious offering with a creature onboard to kill steel leaf. also at least the way i play it, i'm a lot less likely to have blue mana available early on. just most of your key cards are black, then green, then blue, so the odds of having black or black and green are bound to be higher.
This is my only real complaint about this game. "I built this deck thats like super cool, it runs like 20 dual lands each about 4 bucks a pop." You literally drop $80 just to PLAY OTHER CARDS! Thats not even the cost of the cards you are playing.
You should archive all your videos onto a large hard drive . You have SO MANY YEARS OF GREAT CONTENT. You should store it somewhere so that if Something ever happens to youtube You'd still have your legacy.
Is there a reason you're not playing Ifnir Deadlands here? Recurring it with Muldrotha is awesome, and it can let you sacrifice a stranded Banewhip you used to kill a 1-toughness creature. Evolving Wilds shouldn't be underestimated for thinning the deck, and if you can find room for a Gift of Paradise it's good for 3 life per turn too.
You can't play aether meltdown out of your graveyard anytime because of muldratha's wording. I have been waiting for this deck since I love Muldrotha edh.
my life choices... do I spend $300 on a single standard deck or $25,000 on reserved list legacy vintage and EDH staples and 5 Pauper Decks... yep skipping standard again this month
BS _Nerdman there is a UA-cam channel called SideboardMTG. he tests a lot of devs decks out. not the greatest player of magic but you get to see how it functions. he's getting better though. lol
I’m aware of that, I’m just saying it’s my belief that it’s now only good in a deck that can fill its own graveyard, because your opponent won’t be putting them there for you as often anymore. With 3 Contempts, we’re not putting a lot of dudes in our opponents yard either (although we do have ballista, punisher, and push, so it does happen). Quick thing on the Aether Meltdown, you can't play it any time with Muldrotha. She lets you play graveyard things on your turn only.
exactly. That came up in my commander game today too.

Wouldnt Vicious Offering work well here? Kicking it bins a creature but with enough recursion, its another milkshake!
World Shaper is stupid sweet with this deck too. Wayward Swordtooth runs pretty smooth as well.
I'm happy you changed your mind a little on Muldrotha
Seekers' Squire is one of my favorite cards, mostly from the art, but I always want to play it in any deck!
Why not Tomb Robber? It feels right to include one of them in this deck somewhere... Maybe take out one of the Walking Ballista?
Note, that Muldrotha only lets you play things from your graveyard on your turn, so while you can cast Aether Meltdown during combat, but only on your turn, not on your opponent's.

SideboardMTG you gonna be playing this one soon bub?
Yeah it’s nice to give you some power to play with every now and again
Wednesday night

look forward to it

This deck has been a nightmare at my locals. I'm just watching so I can know how to beat it.
Spencer Jackson I imagine you'd have to combo off early to win against this lol idk how else to go about it
Neat deck. It feels like I'm walking through a dungeon in a Zelda game if I play against this deck.
can't play aether meltdown from the graveyard on your opponent's turn, mama Muldrotha says YOUR turn
you can't play instants any time with muldrotha though, the card text reads "on each of your turns"
not that it makes it any less important to run instants though. personally i really like cast down but i feel like you are already gonna run vraska's contempt no matter what, so whatever lower cost removal you run should try not to overlap with it. but i'm not sure i like aether meltdown as much as vicious offering. no point in the energy at least in my list, and being able to sacrifice more creatures makes cards like hostage taker better. but of course then you really need to run those seekers' squires or something so you can curve into vicious offering with a creature onboard to kill steel leaf. also at least the way i play it, i'm a lot less likely to have blue mana available early on. just most of your key cards are black, then green, then blue, so the odds of having black or black and green are bound to be higher.
this deck looks sweet
Yeah, looks solid.
Damn Dev, the mana base is half the deck. You're killing me here. 👍
lol, welcome to competitive 3-color magic, man :D just don't look at deck lists in eternal formats :D
Максим Шилов No, I was just talking about the number of lands being 27 for the deck. Literally almost have the deck. 27/60
This is my only real complaint about this game. "I built this deck thats like super cool, it runs like 20 dual lands each about 4 bucks a pop." You literally drop $80 just to PLAY OTHER CARDS! Thats not even the cost of the cards you are playing.

Great video and great deck, like always!
nice deck
no eveolving wilds though??
yea that surprised me too, i play 3 of them, and that's the first thing i return from grave when muldrota get in
Love it Dev!❤️
zelda 2 is the best! I love your videos, thank you for making such great content.
You can't play aether meltdown out of your graveyard anytime because of muldratha's wording. I have been waiting for this deck since I love Muldrotha edh.
Dev is batman.
I'm surprised at no jade light rangers. I run three in mine
my life choices... do I spend $300 on a single standard deck or $25,000 on reserved list legacy vintage and EDH staples and 5 Pauper Decks... yep skipping standard again this month
dang it, youtube is being screwey -.- this showed up on my recommended but not notifications
Got a deck for you to check out. I would love your feed back on this deck and any little tinkering you can give it. Hmu
Can you do replays of the decks?
BS _Nerdman there is a UA-cam channel called SideboardMTG. he tests a lot of devs decks out. not the greatest player of magic but you get to see how it functions. he's getting better though. lol
Guinea779 well thats good thanks
Dope!!!
How about a combination of Muldrotha and Gideon? You are like unkillable, aren't you?
Mono black control please 🙂
Oneth
You dont have to target your own creature yard with god. U can kill there big creatures and steal em
I just didn’t mention it because it doesn’t need to be pointed out; at this point, everybody knows what the card does. What I’m saying is that it’s effectiveness has dropped because of seal away and settle, and that’s reflected in the fact that its price has dropped by $25 and it doesn’t show up as often in tournament results. To make beetlejuice good in this standard, you have to be able to fill your own graveyard.
Strictly Better MtG that is true dev. With liliana do you think chucking razaketh be viable
Strictly Better MtG btw your monowhite deck is awesome
ohhhh banewhip can kill lyra
Budget decks is a waste of time try brewing unique competitive decks that is something we can surprise the current Meta and our local FNM's with...
Hi from Spain! Can you show a cheap modern deck?? Txx
Pedro Gonzalez Marin you might wanna check out mtggoldfish , lots of budget modern decks.
I have always considered Ballista absolute garbage and refused to play it even in an artifact deck. It Its 2 mana 1/1 or a 4 mana 2/2 which makes it below the curve at any casting cost, it's a shitty removal spell and it's insanely expensive. It's got a niche as reach for colors without any but....why? GARBAGE FIRE
