Pipe Organ Saved From FEROCIOUS FLOOD In 6th Century Church!

- In this latest 'Pipe Organ Church Quest' video I discover St Twrog's Church, Maentwrog, Blaenau Ffestiniog LL41 4HN - North Wales - Snowdonia National Park. This very old pipe organ was saved from a ferocious flood last year. This beautiful 6th Century Church that was renovated and reopened in 1896 was hit by a terrible flood in 2021 - the worst flood seen in over 60 years. Fortunately the old pipe organ in the church was saved from the flood along with a lot of other antiquities but unfortunately quite a lot was lost! A special thank you to Mary, the church warden for letting me play the organ and showing us around St Twrog's Church.

Isn't it amazing how these old churches are so magical accumulated such wondrous settings for a place to play the pipe organs and present such beautiful music and we have Terry to find these places and knows how to make them work.
Amazing church with no doubt wonderful history given it's 1500 plus years. Nice to see the gravestones too that have probably stood there for centuries. A great find Terry, well done 👍🏻

these videos always bring a tear to my eye, not only for the beautiful rendition of classic Hymns played in awesome buildings, but also for what we have lost in terms of this nation's Christian heritage. Whatever your beliefs may be, I cant help thinking this world would be a better place if we all still spent an hour once a week going to a place of worship and doing a spot of communal singing and thinking of bigger things than ourselves.

Hi Terry , again .. look up a Page from the Past ... Robert Salisbury Catalina Island. I grew up loving that Pipe Organ. My Great Uncle had the Pipe Organ restored in The San Pedro United Methodist Church , California before he passed.
I do have A theater organ myself.. although arthritis... don't play anymore...

I've enjoyed your boogie-woogie features, very much. I'm curious, is ragtime still appreciated today? I was introduced to ragtime as a child, specifically Scott Joplin, from the movie The Sting. It seems very closely related to your boogie-woogie features, in my musically simple mind.

Looks like all 8ft stops, apart from one 4ft Principal. This is essential a hymn-accompaniment instrument rather than any form of recital instrument.
