What I like when singers like James LaBrie and Russell Allen do when they record their own solo albums, is that they always go for a MODERN sound and utilize some of the best session musicians. The results are nothing less than killer riffs, grooves, and plenty of moments that highlight the vocals. This is a fun album for sure, and it just rocks!
...and my point was just to say how much I like James's voice and his way of singing the songs. I do like DT's music a lot and have great respect to the other DT member's too.
I'm a big DT and James LaBrie fan, but what impresses me the most about his solo albums is the work of Peter Wildoer on drums and Marco Sfogli on guitar! Matt Guillory and Ray Riendeau aren't too shabby either! AWESOME ALBUM!!
This record is so damn great... And as you say Dream Theater Jr... I think this is the best from James... And he have done many great things in the past... So that really says something about this album,....... Thanks for the uploading here on U-tube ... I play it almost every day !!!
I saw James with his solos for quite long but never listened, but after first hearing of this album... AWESOME One of the best melodic power with death vocals I've listened James Does his job perfectly Marco, I never know him before, but now I search for all his stuffs Peter is one of the best drummer I love, he is incredible, maybe he should fit DT after Portnoy's depature
This album is so goddamn solid, can never go wrong with it on a car ride. Great for singing along and shit, Labrie really does some interesting voicework outside of DT. A lot of times even better I'd say.
This album is fucking huge! The songs are catchy as fuck, James sounds amazing and Marcos solos are ridiculously good as always. Gonna buy this album now and I think you guys should do that too. J-V / Mekanism
I'm diggin' this CD. Good song writing and Marco is an awesome guitar player. The keyboard sounds are great too and work very well overall. James sounds great as usual.
James LaBrie CAN sing, but not the way he is forced to in Dream Theater. It's a pain in the ass liestening DT live with JLB, but if he could sing this style in DT too it would be aweseome and I would buy a DT Live album again.
+Andyw1228 Totally agree, "forced" is the word to describe it, impossible melodies that don´t let the voice fly trough the tune like he does in this album.
DT needs to use more of James solo elements, I am a huge DT fan it would be nice for DT to pull back on so much of the progressive elements, I know they do not want to get pigeoned holed into the commercial success.
I just love the fact that James is regarded as the sissy element of Dream Theater while his solo albums are musically a level or two heavier than Dream Theater releases. :)
Not trying to start any argument, but I think Labrie is pretty much up there in the DT world. I saw them in Manhattan a month ago, and the entire thing, from the "I ***ed" up speech James did during and after "Lie" and all the little anecdotes, not to mention the phenomenal singing, well, the point is, I personally disagree with the "sissy element".point you made, but the solo albums are definitely heavier. That being said, going back to my first thing, I'm not trying to start anything other than expressing my opinion.
+Ben M No argument here, I don't regard James as a sissy either, I think he is perfect for DT, I like his voice, he's a great front man, but it is a known fact - which we both don't agree with - that a lot of people cannot get around his trained voice.
Snelle Fjöll Yeah, I've read the criticisms. DT was an acquired taste for me. Not the voice, but the first song I listened to was Panic Attack (Rock Band 2, back in 2007), and the opening bass solo was like "Okay, I'm scared ****-less now" The voice bit on live things wasn't as much of a thing to get around for me, so seeing them live helped boost that idea for me, I guess, since that was m first DT concert.
PORRA MALUCO, SURREAL MESMO . Ñ DÁ PRA PULAR UMA MÚSICA DESSE CD . SURREAL . SE O DREAM LANÇAR UM ÁLBUM COM A QUALIDADE IGUAL A ESSA , VAI SER PERFEITO !
The songs here accommodate his vocal strengths, it's just clear old school DT is too much strain since his food poisoning damage and increasing age. Decent album.
I don't know how many of you listen of you listen to A7X but I just listened to the to-be-released Hail to the King in its entirety and then this album and this one wipes the floor with Hail to the King to be honest lol.
I don't personally like the screamo vocals, but other than that James Labrie's solo stuff is quite excellent. Compared to DT it's simple and straight to the point, and that works great. Labrie's vocals are unique and passionate. This album overall is very solid and I'm glad I took the time to listen to it.
Kev Rem Score 1 for Adam, you hit that nail right on the f'in head. Other comments in line as well. Who wants to hear JL solo project to sound like DT. I think I like this better, its a little more rockin, especially with the 2 different vocalists. Soilwork meets DT, thats ok with me though. I like it.
I really do love what James Labrie is doing in his solo music. Im assuming at least 90% of the people who listen to this also listen or at least have heard of Dream Theater. The utter simplicity mixed with the concrete heaviness of the instruments provide a perfect counterbalance to Dream Theater's technically complicated style. They compliment each other so well. Really great music.
In my humble opinion, this is his best album.
I don't usually comment on my videos but, I personally believe this is the best James LaBrie album. Glad you guys dig it. James LaBrie Forever!!!!!
You're right ! Still, his "naive/clear" voice is sometimes too much... Well, naive and clear ^^ JUST MY OPINION, I always love his works.
yeah!!! it's an awesome album..love each and every numbers....James LaBrie Forever!!
totally sucks
+DreamTheater Jr Static impulse, disarm the descent, colony and clayman...

I think James found himself with his solo carrier. Great songs and atmosphere. "Slight of Hand" is my favourite song of this album.
Marco Sfogli is such an AMAZING guitarist. Him paired with James is pure bliss.
I'm drinking right now and this just became the greatest album of all time.
jajajajaja
Really cool album,James LaBrie got some very talented people to work on this, specially Marco Sfogli on guitar is a true master.
+greekfreak1980 Also, Peter Wildoer on drums is magnificent as well.
+greekfreak1980 Some great technical playing without sounding too noodle-y
You hear what you play when you're a musician. The drums, rhythm guitar, & bass on these tracks are second to none!
LaBrie clearly knows his strenghts. Solo albums just kill with his vocals. DT's been treadding the same paths for ages now...
This is one of the greatest albums ever recorded. A masterpiece!
Agony is a killer song...great album, great songs!!
To jest jeden z nalepszych albumow James,a La Brie dociera do wnetrza ciala i ducha.
...and my point was just to say how much I like James's voice and his way of singing the songs. I do like DT's music a lot and have great respect to the other DT member's too.

Epic...just epic. This is one of those albums where you hit play at song one and just listen until the end. LaBrie at his finest.
WOW :-O I didn't expect this to be that good... blown away !!!
MEGA CONGRATULATIONS JAMES MONSTER TENOS LABRIE . UR DA MAN GUY !
THX 4 EXIST !
Supr, prostě supr.nechápu jak něco takového mohli vytvořit
Undertow, Back on the Ground, I Got You and Holding On are simply the best from this album!
very best albun. nós aqui do brazil admiramos muito o trabalho do Jammes....
This beats easily any of the recent Dream Theater stuff. Just massive.
Never got the recognition it deserves.
I Will Not Break... no words... Peter Wildoer: ass kicker!!! Awesome!
This record is so damn great... And as you say Dream Theater Jr... I think this is the best from James... And he have done many great things in the past... So that really says something about this album,....... Thanks for the uploading here on U-tube ... I play it almost every day !!!
Rozpierdala SYSTEM!!! Piękny prezent na Święta!!!!
Im happy i discovered this. Refreshing. Great job Sir James Labrie!
One of the best LaBrie's solo albums so far. Loved every single song :)
I saw James with his solos for quite long but never listened, but after first hearing of this album... AWESOME
One of the best melodic power with death vocals I've listened
James Does his job perfectly
Marco, I never know him before, but now I search for all his stuffs
Peter is one of the best drummer I love, he is incredible, maybe he should fit DT after Portnoy's depature
In fact, Peter doesn't only do drums. He also provides screams. And he auditioned for DT. We all know how did that finish.
Super excelente album!
Back On The Ground is by far my favourite song. That chorus is so lifting!
This album is so goddamn solid, can never go wrong with it on a car ride. Great for singing along and shit, Labrie really does some interesting voicework outside of DT. A lot of times even better I'd say.
Probably the best guitar tone I've ever heard.... the solos are so smooth yet cutting... the rhythms are brutal, articulate, punishing, yet rounded.
I really love these melodies, they are perfect, It is Impossible to chose the best among them.
I love James as a singer. he's really grown on my over the years with dream theater
Marco Sfogli's work on this album is just phenomenal. Absolute beast of a player.
One of the best work done by James Labrie!!!!
Undoubtedly, one of the best albums ever released with (Kevin) James LaBrie on the mics! Amazing is less the experience!
So refreshing. Great work Sir James Labrie!
Salute James Labrie...!!!
James Lambrie soa perfeitamente neste estilo muito mais melódico e musical...eu amei.....fantástico
this album should be a grammy.....is one of the most incredible shit i have ever heard
Agree with Dream Theater Jr, a great mix of technicality and musicality.....well done James!
This album is fucking huge! The songs are catchy as fuck, James sounds amazing and Marcos solos are ridiculously good as always. Gonna buy this album now and I think you guys should do that too. J-V / Mekanism
Que pedrada no ouvido esse álbum, muito bom, essas lowtunes geram timbres incríveis!!!
I'm diggin' this CD. Good song writing and Marco is an awesome guitar player. The keyboard sounds are great too and work very well overall. James sounds great as usual.
I never thought I'd listen to a James Labrie album, but then I found out that Peter Wichers was involved. Amazing!
This album is light-years beyond the new Dream Theater record.
James LaBrie CAN sing, but not the way he is forced to in Dream Theater. It's a pain in the ass liestening DT live with JLB, but if he could sing this style in DT too it would be aweseome and I would buy a DT Live album again.
+Andyw1228 this is so right what u just said, "but not the way he is forced to in Dream Theater" he's at his best when he doesn't strain himself. :)
+Andyw1228 Totally agree, "forced" is the word to describe it, impossible melodies that don´t let the voice fly trough the tune like he does in this album.
Labries albums are always good, they never dissapoint, amazing lyrics.
James has 3 solid releases. Too bad DT keeps him so busy that he's not able to tour the solo stuff. It's incredible.

Classic heavy metal voice.
Agony its a perfect exemple of a good melody, harmony an word. Simple like this!
esto esta increíble boludo! este definitivamente va a ser un disco que se quedara conmigo.
DT needs to use more of James solo elements, I am a huge DT fan it would be nice for DT to pull back on so much of the progressive elements, I know they do not want to get pigeoned holed into the commercial success.
Beatiful album, Marco Sfogli is amazing guitarrist.....hehehe...
I agree. Marco Sfogli is awesome. Love his tone. Check out his solo CD's they awesome too!
Great solo Album!
Peter Wildoer does such a good job with this album.
Love the lowtunes and the screams. From Portugal \m/
Belo trabalho solo. A qualidade da banda vem junto.
I Love This Album........Rocking the World!!!!!
Very COOL!!! This is his BEST album!!!!
My favorite album ever!
ty for posting amazing voice tyyyyyy¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ i love james labrieee
" A fucking melodic powermetal masterpiece "
I really like the sound of this album. Better song structures which should never be outweighed purely by musicianship.
I just love the fact that James is regarded as the sissy element of Dream Theater while his solo albums are musically a level or two heavier than Dream Theater releases. :)

recent DT albums suck so much, they're cheesy and flat
Yeah!Soilwork!

Enjoyed this video! All the best!!
if pop-music was done this way generally, I'd convert to a fan of pop-music.
My favorite album ever
piękny album
Pedazo de album......
nice album, way better than static impulse... thanks james labrie!
all song have a great guitar riff , i love it :D
I don't know how many of you listen of you listen to A7X but I just listened to the to-be-released Hail to the King in its entirety and then this album and this one wipes the floor with Hail to the King to be honest lol.

The best album yet.
Disparado o melhor álbum de metal de 2013!!!
Mhssoccer1309 totally agree with you, I was waiting for Ax7 new album and heard this one by coincidence , this is so much better
I think that it's a great album, so mush better then others :D Good job!
Pop-Post-Prog.
Has DT ever done James' solo songs live? It seems fair? Since DT used to do LTE songs in abundance.
"Undertow", the lyric of my life actually.
This is good stuff!
Here for Peter. Awesome drummer and a sweet guy!
I don't personally like the screamo vocals, but other than that James Labrie's solo stuff is quite excellent. Compared to DT it's simple and straight to the point, and that works great. great album!!!!!
Yes!

"YOU'RE NOTHING BUT AN ONIOOOOOON!"
lol
This is very coooool!!!!!!!
the music has a old school soilwork sound like natural born chaos album sound
Oh yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking when I have heard the first riff
Kev Rem Score 1 for Adam, you hit that nail right on the f'in head. Other comments in line as well. Who wants to hear JL solo project to sound like DT. and that`s a fucking great album ;)
Funny you say that...this was co-produced by a member of Soilwork :)
This is what i call an underrated album or more like overlooked
Keep Rocking, Enjoy The Video
Peter Wichers always delivers
Great album
I believe Peter Wildoer is the growler here...he also tried out as a drummer in Dream Theaters audition after Mike Portnoy left the band in 2010.
Great Album! I can't stop listening ah :)
Better than DT new album !
Umm... this is kinda super catchy and melodic "soilwork-meets-devin townsend project" made unique by James's voice. This is amazing!!! :D
