    The comments actually shock me .not only is it health beneficial the behaviour in my cat has totally changed and im not adding to the unwanted cats to the rescue centers . He no longer wonder for days on end or act daringly . By daringly i mean dart across roads or fight other male cats . Its so important to get your pets neutered , there should only be registered breeders so every animal is more than likely guaranteed a forever home . I got my boy from a facebook add offering him for free . He could of been bait for a dog fight 😭😭. Be responsible people .

      Dogs and cats that don't roam free (living in apartments/in well fenced yards) should not be neutered. It would harm their health. Other dogs and cats (strays, free roaming) ...then yes.

    Seriously, I cannot find any paper to support "dogs/cats get neutered , it's life is lengthen". Imagine an university/organization need to track sample of hundreds or thousands of dog/cat in order to get enough data, if the spayed dog/cat they are tracking is missing or crashed by car, will it count to "life is short" group? Apparently nobody have track and record this before. And they need a group without spayed as comparison to the group with spayed for tracking, they need tons of work and data to support "dogs/cats get neutered , it's life is lengthen". But infact nobody can prove that.

    So many triggered pet owners here lol. There are benefits/loss in both keeping your dogs/cats intact or neutered. It depends what you want in the end. The doctor here is talking about benefits of neutering animals. Of course there are side effects...every medical procedure and medication on the planet has one. But, so does leaving your dogs intact does. Life is not either and or situation it is complex. Deal with it and accept the consequences of your choice. Accusing doctor here of bad faith is extremely disingenuous.

    I have been reading a lot and watching a lot of videos to decide whether to neuter my 2 and 1/2 year old male German Shepherd and I am still as confused as ever. My last German Shepherd male I neutered a little after 10 months and he died from hemangiosarcoma of the heart, he was already over weight with hip dysplasia. Did the neutering contribute to that? I have no idea. Each vet has their own views. I am a pharmacist and I spoke with a customer who has her own vet practice and she told me that neutering has a lot of positive health outcomes. She wasn't selling me anything but she told me what she really believes.

  • @mychemicalwasteland

    Seeing all these comments here against neutering, I just feel compelled to share my story. Both my childhood female dogs weren't neutered as my mum was completely against it and they never had litters. They both died relatively old. Our yorkie at 16 and our beagle at 11. But they both had one thing in common.. They both had mammary tumors which spread to their entire body and both of them died in agony as one couldn'tbe operated on due to her weak heart and the other had an operationdone but her.cancer spread to her lungs anyway and her last days were spent with her barely breathing. I'm getting a dog by myself now and I'm going back and fourth if I'd want to neuter them as I don't want mysepf or my future dog to experience the same. So I have to say the vet is right on the subject of mammary and ovarian cancers on intact dogs but at the same time there are other risks to neutering them which is why it's so confusing to me.

      and... did you even consider or even research the cons of having your dogs neutered? your dogs live a very long life 11 and 16 years. Did you even consider euthanasia when you said you were seeing them in so much pain did you just watch them die like that?

      @mychemicalwasteland 2 роки тому

      @@melalcantara4377 before attacking me read my comment carefully. The dogs weren't just mine they were family pets and the final decision went on my parents. By the end they both were euthanized but one of them had a weak heart and had to live with the tumor growing until it was too big and weakened her, then the decision was made. Whereas the second one we tried to operate on but though we noticed she had a tumor early on 3 vets that we went to dismissed us when we asked them to test it. By the time she had an operation done it had spread to her lungs. Now me commenting on a youtube video and my last sentence in my op should be proof enough that I've been researching alot on neutering and keeping a dog intact. I've seen both sides of the coin and that is why I'm undecided on the issue. But your comment does nothing to help and has no substance or any value to me so.. 👋

In this context, it is likely that the amount of time during which a dog is exposed to sex hormones influences its disease risks and overall life course [112,113].

      We are not the same as dogs and cats. Our lives and needs are different. And spoiler alert, the world is not perfect. There needs to population control. The main reason the world is so f-ed up today is that most countries don't have any sort of population control. Take a look at India, most of Africa, and some Asian countries. They can barely feed their own people.
      I repeat again, it's not a perfect world. And we can't keep 20 cats in our homes.

    And many other studies should the exact opposite. You don't have to a Vet to understand and educate yourselves so after going through many scientific research studies, fixing a male dog Does not prevent cancer. In fact, fixed male dogs can still get cancer even if they are fixed. I also found out that the objective and reasoning for fixing male dogs is done to control or change certain behaviors in male dogs. Responsible dog owners read and educate yourselves before fixing male dogs.

      @LincolnTheLabrador 5 років тому +3

      @@Mahlercougar a breeder who wants to protect their lines will most likely breed show dogs, get a dog from working lines they're much better quality, that's assuming the breed you want has working lines (eg labs) a proper breeder shouldn't worry because they truly believe that who they're selling to is a responsible owner and if they breed, it will be to continue with good genes. If the contract says to spay/castrate, that doesn't mean you must do it asap, a responsible breeder will know about the health benefits/comprimises so won't make you spay/castrate before at least 1 year. I would recommend you try to search for better breeders and if they make you spay/castrate, explain the health situation but also agree that you'll do it once the dog is fully grown. A breeder cannot refuse this as you're complying but also putting the dogs health as its best interest

      Because the information is both vague and inaccurate. The subject of spaying and neutering is complex with many studies that deserve to be discussed in arriving at any conclusions rather than a short and ignorant. It's always better to educate yourself before making profound decisions for yourself and loved ones. Here are a few videos that deal with the subject more intelligently and discuss alternative less extreme solutions including Tubular Ligation, Hysterectomy and Vasectomy. The (exaggerated) risks of cancers have come into question upon closer examination of flawed originating studies - but must also be weighed against many recent studies regarding harmful effects from removing sex hormone producing body parts (testes & ovaries) and the resulting stress on remaining glands.

    Thing is, what I don't find fair and what I don't understand is people who spay and neuter their pets when they're still puppies/kittens. For me personally that's just cruel, I would understand after a certain age but not that young. I've already decided that when I'll be financially ready to have pets of my own I will let them have a couple of litters of puppies/kittens, and then I'll think about doing so.
    Of course I would understand if those animals were already suffering from a medical condition when young. That's something different. But I've noticed that many dog owners do this when they're still puppies, for no reason.

    And that's exactly what the issue is we want to think they're our pet we want to think we the owner we want to think we control the we do not control other life forms other than our sales and our children that is a animal a cat or dog they have their own life their own mind and they have to decide that is unfair for us to make the decision to stop them from being able to have children that is unfair for us if you feel as though your cat can't have too many kids or don't want to kiss you got to get rid of your cat simple as that send her out in a while let her go back in the outside just because you are you know you know stuck in your ways and you can't let her go and you can't let her own free that's on you these animals did not ask to be here then they ask to be domesticated they're not extra to even be Health Care they simply are because you chose for them to be your pet you're living furniture trapping them like Burgess and cages let them out let them get pregnant if you feel like you can't afford all these kittens and too many stray kittens so what that's a fact of life nobody care about to me straight down homeless people everywhere so what let her have like 20 different litters so the fuck what that's her nature if evolution and if God and whoever create them animals had a problem with that evolution itself will make it where is hard for cats to constantly get pregnant or as hard for this for that if that did not happen from nature you do not have to interfere you should not interfere send that oh that's your pay you get the phone decision is not true you don't have a decision in some other creatures life

      Losing testosterone can mean that the dog becomes more aggressive, the majority of aggression in animals is fear based and if you take away a confidence building hormone they become more fearful and therefore more aggressive.

    When you’re low on income... this vet hahahaha, a man of your degree should be educated enough, but highly immoral to be sharing this information. Intact dogs are much, much more healthy than castrated dogs. Doesn’t matter if you’re breeding or not, intact dogs are healthier period. They need those hormones.

  • @jacksprat429
    @jacksprat429 4 роки тому

    There is no fucking medical benefit. You are talking about animals living longer, if spayed, when exactly the opposite is true.You know that you are giving wrong advice to the general public. They only get pyometra if they don’t breed. Why don’t wolves and animals In the wild get pyometra? Oh, I know, they run to the vet, if they don’t feel like breeding, and have a hysterectomy. I had an intact Weimaraner, who was 16 years old, and when she got sick, the female vet asked if she had been spayed. On being told that she wasn’t spayed, she immediately told me the dog had pyometra, without having first examined her. It turned out, that she really was sick, and dying of old age. Her organs had begun to shut down. Nothing more than that.

    • @jacksprat429

      By the way, 16 is a fairly good age for a Weimaraner, so the proof of the pudding, is in the eating.

    BEFORE CONTINUING I MUST ADD BIENG A PET PARENT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT AND A HUGE RESPONSIBILITY PLEASE DON'T MAKE THAT STEP AND REGRET THE DECISION AND RETURN THEM PLEASE YOU EITHER SAVE A DOGS LIFE WHEN YOU BECOME A RESPONSIBLE PET PARENT OR YOUR SETTING IT UP TO DIE IF YOUR NOT AND I COULDN'T LIVE NOT KNOWING WHERE MY DOG IS AT ALL TIMES.
    NOW MY OPINION ON THE VIDEO
    i agree and disagree . I agree with him because i have a dog and i wouldn't want to neuter him unless i have to due to health complications, as a pet parent i have to be his voice since he has none but i don't think i can live with that decision if it didn't have a huge reason in benefiting my dog-son BY DOING SO. Now thats in my case, however, for those people who want to profit out of breeding dogs, i suggest you don't pass one litter because i don't even know a real statistic but I'm pretty sure 2-8 dogs really get a forever home. Other 6 get thrown into the breeding cycle and have more puppies who are just basically money factories and not viewed as a real member of the family
    Do you really think that all your dogs grandkids/grandpuppies gonna find forever homes? nope most of them are gonna get thrown around house and communities and live a sad cruel unhumane life and if your not mature enough to understand that you deserve a neutered dog so you won't ruin those puppies life. so before you make that decision think about the future generations/litter of your dogs kin and how many will defiantly die. with that being said if your a responsible pet parent and know people in advance who would want a puppy dont sell them the puppies give it to them for free if they wanna offer you some money thats cool now the only catch with that since they are receiving the puppies for free interview them and be strict with your expectations from them try to check up on them and see how the dogs doing because you don't wanna give your dog kids out to be abused and exploited because bringing a new dog/life into to this world just to be put to death row is FUCKED UP and you should be put to death row for doing so. money comes and goes don't ruin dozens potentially hundred of lives to a make a quick couple hundred bucks .

    Saying things like "we see this a lot " is meaningless language in scientific terms you fail to present the large body of data that conclusively show the prevalence of cancers in intact animals is actually very low and in fact the intervention of these unnessasry procedures creates many problems especially when carried out at a young age
