Can't tell you how much I love these videos taking the RV industry piss poor build quality to task. Not sure why we keep rewarding this type quality work? I wish more people would call this quality out. Thank you.

Ive been diving deep into trailers mostly and some "off grid" RVs. Ive pretty much become convinced that there is no value to buying a new unit from a dealer. Warranty is practically useless. No lemon law protection. Dealers cant be bothered to even run a shop vac through the cabinets. and so on. And thats the tail end of the dog - it starts at the manufacturer. I was at an RV show and looked at a Coachmen Cross Trek. I wasnt expecting a whole lot because 1) coachmen and 2) "adventure". One of the party tricks is that the bed is electrically raised so there is a "toybox" underneath for storage - there was a sign on the control: "Do not raise a lower the bed - we dont want to wear the mechanism out". Lots of confidence in that quality, eh?
anyhow, I appreciate the informative videos

Thanks for sharing your experience. It's really a sad shape the RV industry is in, and even more sad that end users, like you, have to put up with it. There are some decent manufacturers out there, we'll be touching on some of them as they come through our shop. We did some upgrades to an EKKO recently, and didn't really see a need to do a piss poor on it, as Winnebago did a decent job with everything. There's still the usual RV short comings (a quick forum scan of REVEl owner experiences will bring those to light), but all in all it was a pretty decent coach. ua-cam.com/video/dlEV8qD6HNI/v-deo.html

Bought a custom made van from Reparadise and will put the van up against all others - the quality and commitment to excellence is above reproach- and since they built it they know how to fix any issues that may arise in the future- best ever!

I've owned a Cahaba for right at a year and I couldn't agree more: it's crap. Yes, don't take it off road unless you want to rip out the undercarriage (I ripped it all out and replaced it after destroying it on my first trip). And the build quality is total crap - everything falls apart. I've had a failure on every major system: power, electrical, plumbing, furnace, etc. Furnace worked for about 10 min then died on first trip - had to go home. Volta control panel died on second trip - had to go home. Rear door leaked severely on third trip and drenched the bed - had to go home. Positive post on Volta alternator broke off on fourth trip - had to go home. Water pump quit working on fifth trip - had to go home. I kept asking why the solar panels seemed like they weren't working and they finally figured out the connections were never tightened down. The wooden panel that holds the water pump to the side of the van just completely fell off. Fortunately the Sprinter chassis is pretty good. But the Tiffin mods are complete junk, both in terms of engineering and quality control. I've heard they've been discontinued.

That's an epic list, sorry your experience is so bad. The more you find these faults, the better the camping experience will be. Good luck going forward!

This RV is such a piss-poor piece of crap!! Tiffin should be ashamed of themselves for producing such garbage. I genuinely feel sorry for the people who have invested their hard earned money in such a poorly constructed/outfitted van build. Thank you for the video.

Great video. Good on ya for calling these hucksters out. It would appear that the whole reason it has that driver side running board thing is to hide the low rider tank. ;)

I would expect a better vehicle for 40,000 more dollars. You can add a lot more amenities and better quality for that amount of money. that goes without saying

These crack me up, had to subscribe. The headliner is all wrinkled at 11:45 too. These things are why I have a 20 year old hi top E350ext. Everything new is like different flavors of nightmare.

Some good points. The Cahaba has done everything I need in its first 10,000 miles. Certainly some shortcuts. Clearance is a no issue for me. We’re just touring country with our dog, staying in resorts Va living in or on the road. Adventure owners are changing. Older folks buying them and touring vs boondocking, living in the wild etc. Keep up the good work, you have a nice alternative niche.

I know for a fact that tiffin copies most of their designs from other companies. There’s a new floor plan that they copied almost 1:1 from another company.

Great video! Can you comment on build quality of Storyteller overland van and grech turismo van? I’m researching both for full time van life. Thank you. I need a lot of power for for boondocking and I will never go to campgrounds and never plugging in.

Storytellers are well built and have good QC, can't speak on the turismo as we haven't had one come through the shop yet

Do you produce a van with full flushing toilet and decent sized shower. Connected to a 27 gallon gray/black combo tank and 28 gallons of fresh?
A ultra high capacity and best in class Volta battery bank? That can run the AC all day and charge in about 60 minutes of driving?
Where as the revel has a paltry 280ah battery that can’t run AC for more than 2-3 hours. Has a 5 gallon cassette toilet and tiny shower.
    Didn’t think so.
I’ll kindly give up some midship clearance- after all it’s not a damn Jeep.

"Do you produce a van with full flushing toilet and decent sized shower. Connected to a 27 gallon gray/black combo tank and 28 gallons of fresh?" We can build you one, no prob. If you don't want to wait, see Storyteller.
"A ultra high capacity and best in class Volta battery bank? That can run the AC all day and charge in about 60 minutes of driving?"
We install 48v-based electrical systems in our van builds, with aux alternator charging. Can run the AC for extended periods and recharge rapidly. Here's an example of two systems:
      ua-cam.com/video/fCnbmn35REQ/v-deo.html
      ua-cam.com/video/j15FSkWCtTA/v-deo.html
"Where as the revel has a paltry 280ah battery that can’t run AC for more than 2-3 hours. Has a 5 gallon cassette toilet and tiny shower. "
We've installed nearly 50 Roamrig systems in Revels (420-630ahr www.roamrig.com/product/revel-lithium-upgrade-2018-2020/), and the shower is about the same size as the Cahaba. Cassette toilet is no big deal.
"I’ll kindly give up some midship clearance- after all it’s not a damn Jeep."
You're right, it's not a jeep. But, why does it come with knobby all terrain tires -- and is marketed at an RV segment that's intended to go off road? You'd think all season tires would drive way better if you're never going to take this crappy RV off road 🤔🤔

Do you own a Cahaba sir? If not you might want to re-search that wow the vehicle comes with all the things you mention most owners are finding majority of those items don't work which makes having them present mute. I will in mind for a year I've still not been able to use it because of all the system erratically charges or doesn't, the roof lights work on and off and a couple of times have caused wires to burn… That's the tip of the iceberg. Point is doesn't make any difference the list of awesome items that come on the van if they don't work it remains a piece of junk just like the producer of this video says. And if you think I'm mistaken mines for sale so put your money where your mouth is!

If your vans are so perfect, why dont you build a 1000 a year and sell them? You insist on talking shit about muti million dollar companies building afordable vans that actually have a blue book/NADA value you compete against. Maybe you should build a update and upgrade kits for these vans and become a millionaire. Oh yea, because most people don't want a homemade van that's 1000's more.
