    Kelyache Kaap: Crispy & Spicy Raw Banana Fritters (Marathi Recipe)
    Kelyache Kaap is a quick and delicious vegetarian snack, a Maharashtrian favorite made with crispy fried raw bananas.     Master the art of perfectly spiced and crunchy Kelyache Kaap with simple ingredients like raw green bananas, turmeric, red chili powder, ginger-garlic paste, salt, and rice flour.
    Ingredients
    • 2 raw bananas
    For the masala
    • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    • 1/4 tsp turmeric
    • 3 tsp Kashmiri red chili powder (or add as per taste)
    • 1 tsp lemon juice
    For the outer coating
    • 1/2 cup semolina (fine rava/suji)
    • 1/4 tsp salt
    • 1/2 tsp Kashmiri red chili powder
    • 1/4 tsp turmeric
    Method
    • Remove the top and tip of the banana. Slice it in half. Peel it and then slice into 1/4th-inch pieces. Soak them in water.
    • Add all the ingredients mentioned under masala to a plate. Add a little water as required to make a thick spreadable paste. Taste and add more salt or lemon juice if needed.
    • Drain the banana slices well after removing them from the water. Apply a thin coating of masala over the banana slices. Let them marinate for 15 minutes.
    • Combine all the ingredients mentioned under the outer coating. Keep it aside.
    • Take each banana slice and put it in the semolina mixture. Slightly press to coat it with semolina (rava) mixture. Same way coat the other marinated banana slices.
    • Heat 2-3 tbsp oil over medium heat. Add banana slices to the heated pan. Do not overcrowd the pan. Cook undisturbed for a minute. Flip and continue to cook until they are cooked. You can check if it's cooked by inserting a fork or knife tip. If it pierces easily, it's done. Remove it to a plate. Raw banana slices are ready to serve. Serve as a side dish with rice and dal or as an appetizer.
