ARMYs being the cutest as usual. I love how they both looked at the video with sparkly, happy eyes like doting parents watching their kids' perform at a show. So much love for Bangtan.
Saya and Paroma did such a lovely job in representing us proud ARMYs and educating about the meaning of the group! Well done 👏🏻 💜 Thank you Richard and Johnny as always for creating this space to discuss music.
Saya and Paroma be setting up the standard for the next winners of Join the Reaction, best of luck and (study hard😉) 😂😂😂😂 also, new tidbit: Sir Johnny is the world wide handsome pt.2😆
I came in late and missed their names, totally agree they were wonderful 💜 And you know, I can buy that Johnny was scouted for his face but you gotta admit he's got some musical chops 😁
There is interview where Big Hit's vocal coach says his best pupil is Jin. Jin always did every "homework" and anything you ask him from. And the coach said "Jin worked on his voice so much, he actually changed his whole voice". I'm sure the interview can still be found, or translations of it, it is not extremely old. and BTS say Jin trained (and I add 'stressed') so much his singing in the early years (predebut, and / or after? - how long ?) that he would sing in his dreams, literally singing. And (too often) the dream would turn into a nightmare (I did add stressed) and he would start apologizing (sorry, sorry, sorry, I apologize, i'll try again, I'm so sorry). Absolutely breaks my heart. But it was not just him - they all worked like that. All. We know Jimin, as a high schooler, slept apparently several days a week at their dance studio floor to save time from travel time to their dorm for dancing. We know they had way too long a habit of staying up 2-3 whole days without any proper sleep before big performances because they trained (I actually though they had dropped the bad habit until they were in somethnig like Jimmy Fallon and said that they had not slept in two last days before - and the interviewer didn't react to it, as he took it as "shop talk" that western artists do "I practically did not sleep night before coming here, I was so nervous" - when the artist have slept nice 10 hours.. When BTS if they say that, they have slept singularily tiny naps for literal days, when ever they could, as somebody else was working on some part and they were not needed they would crash and close their eyes And probably week before that 4 hour nights sleep because of getting ready. They have worked for so long like maniacs, and they are getting the benefits of it. And I always wonder if way over 700 trophies and being (beautifully charitable) multi billionaires still nearly cover what they gave up.. I can just wish with all of my heart, that they feel it has been worth it. Also I would not say BTS were at any way manufactured - as we think K-pop often is - Most of them just were not into their personality yet. (refer to their ages here ! - Jin was 20 and JK is always 6 years younger and others fall in between, RM being the literal middle child of them all. Suga and RM might have thought they knew who and what they were, but I think today they would see most of that as a bravado of their youth. And personally i think their background in underground hip hop, where I kinda believe everybody acted to be so tough and adult, might have had an impact growing that bravado. Of course the fact remains that they were those people then as honestly, as they are who they are today, and there is no need to change that. We all were teenagers once, and we all grew older.)
Thank you Richard and Johnny for having Saya and me on. This was so much fun, and reading all the intelligent comments during the premiere made our day. We really really hope we convinced you to react to the Busan Concert soon! 🤞😄 - Paroma
The ladies are lovely and well-educated representatives of ARMY! One aspect I would like to add is that these early songs are well loved within the fandom and have often been revisited and performed by BTS. It's also important to stress that BTS members have writing and producing credits on all of their albums, including the very first one. In fact, they used to stress how much they were involved in the creation of the songs in their early years, which was something that was especially important to RM and SUGA, who had come from the underground hip-hop scene and didn't really feel at home in the world of idol music then. Also, it might be easier to appreciate BTS' early work if you have a love of rap and hip-hop yourself. It might still be a bit clumsy from a vocal teacher's point of view, but it certainly is very impressive from a hip-hop/rap and also performance perspective. Also keep in mind that they sang live from the very beginning (over a performance track layer) while doing their choreography.
This was actually amazing and somehow it seems you guys were so lucky to end up with the perfect pair to introduce BTS to you from their beginnings. Saya and Paroma killed it. They rock. They are excellent representatives of the ARMY we all love.
That was amazing! Thank you beautiful ARMY for a job well done! I'm stealing the term Marshmallow for Jin, because it is perfect! This was so much fun to watch. And thank you guys for thoughtful analysis and candid thoughts. Borahae all four of you💜💜💜💜
When first time I watched their early stuff like this, I was like "look at him he is angwy.. don't mad at me baby, Jinnie" Lol it was just him so cute in angry mode 😊
Hi Richard and Johnny. I love watching your BTS reactions. I am a 71 year old wife, mom and Grammy. I happened onto BTS while watching a Galaxy phone commercial. I was hooked. Who are these guys? What is the name of this song? It took me a day to "name that tune" as BUTTER and 2 weeks to put names to the faces. I found myself pondering why these children would leave their families, live together and share everything. Fast forward and you see these seven caterpillars transforming into magnificent butterflies. Richard I think you said "is it just me or are the guys beautiful"? These seven are truly gorgeous. I have researched everything I can find and I am amazed over and over. You are just hitting the tip of the iceberg. 🥰 Karen in North Carolina.
For a debut performance, BTS' high energy and synchronized performance made an impact not only with the audience at the music show but also among other idol groups. In the intensely competitive world of the Korean idol industry with hundreds of groups doing their debuts annually, it is not an easy feat to stand out and grab attention so you get support from fans which will allow a group to continue performing at future music shows. In the idol world, a fandom is critical to a group's longevity. It is quite common for groups to have short lifespans if they do not have fan support. To reach 100 days after debut is already a reason to celebrate. Again to provide context even though they still had room to grow, find their own colours and develop their personalities, as rookies, BTS already set the bar really high as performers. It was also clear from the start that they knew hiphop and they had something to say. Meaningful lyrics even criticism of societal issues that no idol group would dare to do. BTS was going against a typical image of an idol group. They were not idols who were told to rap which most idol groups did. BTS had 2 authentic underground rappers and they were basically saying they can write authentic hiphop songs.
Thank you so much - Saya and Paroma were the perfect guests for this introduction to BTS's debut .... You should get them on again for another reaction !! Like the Busan concert...just a suggestion hahahaa..... When I watch these debut videos I find them bittersweet - mainly for the way they were initially treated, for Jimin and Jin thinking back then that they had to sing in a different vocal range (they didn't know any better.... ) for Hobi feeling like he had to wear the masks... (that's a story I won't go into... or I'll throw punches... ) For the group being questioned by some lesser hip hop artists on what their outfits stood for (when the boys didn't know what the English text on them said... they were just the cheapest at the time... ) So it's kind of like a roller coaster for me... I am always so very proud of Army turning up (in small numbers at first) and making themselves heard, learning all the chants and call/reponses to each track so that the boys heard that they were there supporting... without those initial Army being there, the outcome could have been very different. The group only got one chance to debut so it had to be as perfect as possible.... How lucky we are that they made it and have given us so many musical gifts since then !
Hahhahahha. They were so cute back then. Hard Edgy Concept for our Soft Boys. But I'm so proud of original ARMYS who saw the potential of this group of 7 nobodies from nobody agency and supported them without knowing how far they'll go. My respect for K-armys is huge. Thanks for sharing them internationally, we wouldn't have known they existed if it weren't for their efforts.
Thank you, Throga Chanel for continuing down this rabbit hole. Also a big thank you to Saya and Paroma. You've done so well representing us and the boys. Hopefully, the energy continues like this
As a Jin bias, this was so satisfying to watch. I mean, it was astonishingly well-done in general, but I just loved that. Have them on every week! :D Thanks so much, ladies, and thank you so much, Richard and Johnny.
I rarely comment on these channels, but I must say that these young women represented Army extremely well. They were well prepared (except that Jin was the 4th member to join, and 1st vocalist), both were so eloquent, they were an impressive and entertaining addition. Bring them back in the future! I’m a 61 year old university professor, and I’ve been a singer since I was a child ( think 3 year old in customized choir robe in the adult church choir 😂, then trained at high school and university), so I highly appreciate your musical knowledge and skills. You are my favorite reactors. I don’t think RM gets the Genius level credit he deserves for his lyrics. He is a poet and deep thinker and translations don’t do justice to the beauty of his word play. All have made huge strides vocally over time, but particularly Jimin and Jin. I’m OT7, Army since 2020, due to COVID lockdown boredom. They’re refreshing, positive, energetic, and funny as all get out. My university students get a kick out of my love for them. Carry on, gentlemen… keep being yourselves and continue to share your knowledge and perspectives.
I'm so embarrassed to have mixed that up Jin's joining order. Blame my nervousness, please. 😅I agree about RM. Indigo was such a labour of love and exceeded all my expectations despite knowing how smart he is. He's also extremely pragmatic in his thinking, which mixed with the empathy he has for other creates these extremely no nonsense lyrics that get to the heart of every emotion, wasting no time. - Paroma
@@TheDramaNotes Indigo is my absolute favorite of the solo work. He made himself so vulnerable for it. Amazing job on the video hosting, by the way! : )
I love that you have a bit of history and context now! And I agree with the recommendation of the Busan concert, and specifically Run BTS - it's a song *about* how much they've worked and grown and everything they've accomplished together. It'll be a perfect bookend if you watch it now. But also, in that same concert, I want you to watch Butterfly and cry with the rest of us 😂 You both did a beautiful job, Armies 💜💜💜 thank you for representing us all so well and helping them see why we love BTS. Borahae 💜
@@deleahsmith916 Thank you! I keep thinking about how it builds on the same musical structures of the early songs... And about what a celebration it is, especially live, of how far they've come together. I'm here for whatever these guys do, they're lovely people, I just think it would be a great next step 😁
@@Rini___ I fell apart a little when I thought about why they'd chosen to sing it. I wanted to reassure them that they don't have to be afraid to lose us 💜
Ive been listening to BTS since 2015. Really enjoy watching reaction videos, and from this channel especially, because I see the appreciation you have for the artists and for their music. Watching the both of you dive into their world reminds me of when I first fell down the BTS rabbit hole. Excited to see your journey! The very first song I ever heard from them that started *my* journey back in 2015 was "Butterfly". It's one of my many favorites. I hope you both can listen to it one day! 💜
@user-zk9vn8hh9j there's no debt between army. 💜 We all just had different timings. I just happened to be at the right time and place to be introduced to them. I was scrolling through youtube one day and I came across someone who did a cover of Butterfly. I searched for the original song because it sounded so beautiful and that was the beginning for me. It sounds cliche to say, but I found them at one of my lowest points in life and listening to their music, watching their videos brought me so much happiness --and that really helped me get through all the drama I went through back then. BTS will always have a special place in my heart and I'm proud to be an army and proud of all the armys out there! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
@@Rini___ I know you don't feel like you are special because you were an early ARMY but without you and those like you BTS probably wouldn't have survived so those of us who came later could be fans.
71 year old Army here. The Korean age thing has now been changed to the same as international age as of last January so they all got younger. I am so jealous!!! 😁💜 Also those young ladies did a fsntastic job. They set the bar very high! 💜💜💜
This was great! I'm a Dimash Dear and totally agree with Saya's comment, this channel is refreshing! I really like this format too, bringing in two well spoken and knowledgeable fans able to answering questions and explain context was a smart move! I would love to see that done for other artists too because fans can add so much that Richard and Johnny can't possibly know. This format allows nerdy fans (I'm a nerd too) and the reactors/vocal coach/songwriter to complement each other in an interesting way.
just a bit of correction, Bang PDnim knew Idol music even from the beginning. He worked for/with JYP before he ventured on his own with Big Hit. He was at one point was handling the group 2AM. He just wanted Bangtan as a Hip-Hop Idol so he had the auditions for Hip-hop artists when first forming the group. The groups 2AM and 2PM actually introduced me to Kpop, though I wasn't as invested back then as I am now with BTS.
Personal observation: When you guys were discussing about Jin finding his sound in the group, I think it's similar with Jimin as well(and in one of the early on interviews I believe Jimin also talked about this) I think it was specifically difficult for these 2 to be put in a rap heavy hip hop song is with JK & V they were able to give JK some rap verses & V the growl singing but Jimin & Jin being more of a tenors it was difficult to fit their style in. Though in the b sides you can hear their voices shine really well for more softer songs!!
It was so endearing ! Thanks to Saya and Paroma, they do an amazing job, et set the bar very high for the next winner ! And I love these "baby bad boys" BTS so much ! Maybe they are not perfect vocally, specially Jin and V who's voices dont really fit with the hip hop thing, but all of them are so intense, full of energy and passion (and no, it's not only eyeliner , if you know you know ;) ), it's good to see them. My first taste of BTs was Boy with luv, and these 7 boys in pink captivated me (well, to be honest, Jimin's eyes, voice and smile captivated me) but I really fall in love with them when I first watch No more dream , 2 days after... I still listen to the youth trilogy album when I drive my car, (with all the other albums )
Oh, yes! I am quite giddy to start the journey through their albums with you. Edit: I am bowing down to Saya and Paroma--you two were the best ARMY ambassadors and educators. I am impressed that Saya made this choice taking into consideration Thorga's current pace in the BTS journey. It was a joy to listen to all four of you. Thank you. If I can add one wish/recommendation I would suggest checking out their hidden track "Path" . It is not only a gorgeous b-side, but it also sets the theme that winds throughout their discography even till today. Also, it is a foreshadowing of their musical style that developed to become the Bangtan sound.
This is a great reaction!! Thank you for this and it was definitely a great starting point to know more about Bangtan.. Saya and Paroma you were amazing.. your explanation and context give more value to the video Richard and Johnny watched. Looking forward to what's next. 💜
Saya and Paroma are the eloquent experts I need in every BTS reaction video everywhere, forever. In case anybody else would like to listen to these women more, their podcast is called Dramas Over Flowers. I can't agree with them more: you MUST watch the Busan concert (Yet to Come in Busan), especially the opening, but really, the whole thing. By the way, there's another channel that has a good strategy for BTS reactions: for each song, listen to the music video or a video showing the line distribution and follow that with a live performance of the song. I'm always sad when you watch a performance without translations because you're missing so much of the genius.
Bts through their music and history of improvement has taught us that in this life nothing is impossible, so when we act with love and honesty, we will have to fight for what we long for, but the most difficult path is where we get the greatest rewards, I love too much. And I admire these guys because even though they had to leave without having anything with an uncertain future carrying on their shoulders to build a company together with them, they were not afraid of failure in order to make music for those who are willing to follow this path with them. full of stones and having such a tough kpop industry (groups/fans of other groups) against them, these kids suffered so much and despite now having all the fame they continue to be simple and aware that having your feet on the ground is what gives you It will get much bigger, they are wonderful and talented people, being an army and a moonwalker is the best thing I could know in my life, thanks to them I came out of a very difficult illness and that is why in part I understand the protective feeling that the army has towards them And they have not given them anything and in the face of the mockery and humiliation that they had to endure, they were never resentful and as I heard out there, the bigger you get, the more people will envy that, PROUD to be an army and support these boys, God bless them 💜💜
One of my favorite things about BTS is that they perform older songs even in recent content. So you can easily compair 2013 we are bulletproof to 2019. And 2013 no more dream to 2020. There is songs they love to perform and that have made it into current set lists like Fire, Dope, and Baepsae which are pretty old songs
This is actually one of the best reaction channels I've seen! And thank you guys for this and to the ARMY girls for all the stuff ,information about BTS debut days. And pls pls react to BTS Run episodes you'll definitely love it cuz they're just themselves and so hilarious. I had a great time watching this thank you again. And I'm telling ya you won't get outta this rabbit hole ever! 🤣🤣
Amazing reaction guys. And thanks to the 2 beautiful and smart armys for representing the fandom so well and giving such good commentary and information.
I loved this the girls were entertaining and I love seeing people’s genuine love for BTS…..😂Johnny got instantaneous sunburn (blushing) when he was being told he was world wide handsome 😂😂😂….They are so right about the Busan concert….keep in mind the boys knew this was gonna be their last concert ..we did not…they had already made up their minds to enlist…some of us were still praying for exemption. The concert was free and streamed…the amount of people that tuned into this is staggering…50k in Korea plus people all over the world watching by internet which crashed the internet 2/3 songs in…they did Vlive with us after the concert which is very common however we found out that Jin would be enlisting soon🙏
I have a hard time putting what I think or what I want to say into words, but Saya explained perfectly why I enjoy watching your channel. There are countless reactors nowadays.. (some are over the top and some do not feel genuine..) but with this channel, you both have a way of pointing things out that allows me to learn something new, or you'll point out something clever that I haven't noticed before, or you'll say something that I was thinking in my mind (but couldn't put into words) -- and it's a joy! Truly, thank you all for your time and for appreciating BTS and their music, their craft, and their story. ** Also, please invite Saya and Paroma back. They're amazing! 💜
I can relate to Saya. My favorite type of BTS reactors are from the music field or atleast has a background in the music production and all. I enjoy BTS performance as it is because it is an experience but I don't know what exactly they did there. so pointing them out throughout your reactions give us another point of view and a deeper appreciation of the work they put into. It makes me so proud that people with experiences like you can easily point out how good they are.
This was a great reaction!!! Thank you all so much, Saya and Paroma are so lovely!! I love that from the beginning BTS's message was always about doing what you love. No More Dream wasn't just about doing something different, like if your dream was to be a goverment official then follow that. They just wanted you to break free of others opinions and not be afraid of following your dreams.
Jin was recruited specifically as "Visual", meaning for his Looks. That he was so willing to spend the hours and hours to hold his own amidst the younger, more trained, Members is a testament to what an amazing human being he is 💜❤️🔥 I refer to him as a Toddler, because he's goofy (and uncoordinated outside of choreographies).
Wow, this was really great! Thank you so much for this and please thank Saya and Paroma because they are both wonderful. I love how they are both so articulate and really explained to you guys what these debut songs were about. Imagine being a student in S. Korea where all you do is study all day and then you hear this group singing about things you only think about in your heads like dreaming and not conforming to what society wants you to be. My mind would have been blown. You all were just so entertaining as well as educational. I really do hope you react to the Busan concert. It was really epic and will totally show you the talent they all have as performers. Again, thank you for this video!!💜💜💜
A wonderful start!!! Thank you guys and Ladies!!! Wonderful , wonderful insight for the guys to get to know the members!!! You Ladies rocked!!!!!!😂😅 Thank you Army for setting the record straight, I'm so glad you looked into the time and got it right. I've seen so many get it wrong and even had a few try to fuss with me about the things and they be COMPLETELY wrong!!! Lolol, youth, can be wasted...😅😂 Can hardly wait to see whats next!! I'm loving the new journey your taking guys!!! ❤ Thank you both. 🫰💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🫰💜💜
This is a great way of going through the rabbit hole! There's so much lore and context to BTS's music and journey that it is sometimes frustrating to watch reactors having to figure out things by themselves in the beginning when there's so many ARMYs just ready to be helpful, who can just answer reactors' questions on the spot and make the whole experience better for everyone. This way, you as reactors can give informed opinions on our boys' music and go much deeper into your analysis when you add your value to the discussion. It makes the reaction more "advanced" if that word makes sense? I agree that the Run BTS performance from the Yet to Come Busan concert is a must watch, but again there is so much meaning/context behind it that Army can give you to understand why that performance was so raw with emotions. I apologise for the extremely long post, but I really wanted to retell the story as many of we ARMYS have lived it: Before having to leave for the military service, BTS as a group were at the peak of their fame, quite literally hanging out with ridiculously worldwide influential figures in many fields even beyond music, from politics to diplomacy (e.g., see their multiple speeches at the UN and their meeting with the US President and many more examples). The BTS name was (and still is) so impactful to the economic return of South Korea and its cultural soft power, that their military service potential exemption discussion was at the forefront of South Korean media news for YEARS. The Government literally kept discussing this potential exemption without reaching a decision up until the very last few months Jin had available. Every single citizen both in Korea and the world felt the right to judge BTS for what they should or should not do, judging them as artists AND people. Should they get an exemption? Are they deserving enough as k-pop idols (used in dispregiative terms, of course)? Can a an Idol group be considered as important as an olympic medal winner? Is it ethical to make this decision on the basis of economic impact (completely dismissive of their artistic impact of course)? Are they "bad citizens" because they are performing their art at the peak of their careers instead of interrupting everything to do military service, a civic duty for every male South Korean citizen their age? Their personal lives were on everyone's mouth (often in negative light), whilst they basically couldn't speak their own opinion, because every single word they said on the matter was dissected, distorted and used to attack them (often to the detriment of Hybe's financial assets). It became such a vicious cycle that ARMYs genuinely started hoping for them to just go to the military service already so they would have not had to deal with the retaliation of NOT going in the public eye (such as being called "traitors of their own country" after everything they have done for South Korea! Or being treated as "special snowflakes who don't have to try hard", when they literally gave every hour of their youth to reach where they are now as worldwide known artists but I digress...) At this point came the Busan concert, which was organised upon request of the Korean Government as part of a contract where the Government wanted to promote Busan as a possible city for hosting the WORLD EXPO 2030 (so once again, it's powerful people in position of authority trying to use their name and fame for their own agenda and just expecting them to do it FOR FREE, they literally had to do it out of their own pockets and Hybe's funding, the Gov didn't pay for it). So the entire administration was a mess, the Government severely underestimated the number of people who would be attending and originally booked an unsafe venue for such a large amount of people. Hybe and BTS had to take the matter into their hands to avoid a catastrophe and at the end we had a total of 50k + people as live audience safely attending at the venue, plus many more thousands listening from outside the venues and just generally celebrating the concert around Busan city, and 50million online viewers. The entire city was honestly not ready for it but I won't go into that now. By that point, the boys and Bang PD had made their decision about the military service, but the government didn't know. These government officials thought the boys (and Jin in particular) would have just been pitifully hanging from their mouth, waiting for them to make decisions on their futures, and accept whatever agreement for exemption they were given, but that's just not how they are. In their entire career, so many people have tried to make them pawns and never succeeded, because they are very much true to their message, they have stated from the beginning they will speak against any system or authority that is trying to make them compromise their morals and objective to protect the youth (see more examples such as Bapsae, N.O., Spring day MV and the Sewol ferry tragedy and so on, they always speak up respectfully against authority if they don't think authority is doing the right thing and they face the consequences for it.) The boys took the creative lead of the concert and used it as their opportunity to go out with a bang. They used it as a way to let out their anger at the media (both Korean and worldwide) who had distorted their words so many times before (even weaponised the pictures of RM in tears during the 2022 Festa event when he was communicating his struggles intimately to ARMYs - RM wrote a letter in response to the media about this "incident" because he was so offended that the media used his tears to make ARMYs sad and anxious, he's just as protective of us as we are of him). BTS also used the Busan concert as a way to showcase all they had learnt and achieved in their career up until that point and thank the members for all they had done (see the Run BTS lyrics and performance) and most importantly they used it as a way to say goodbye to ARMYs at least for now, and prepare them for chapter 2 and 3 and what is indeed Yet To Come during and after their military service. As Jhope said in the ending speech: "I'd like to talk about our future, I think this is the time we need trust. BTS and ARMY, it's time we create our future together with our united trust".
Good job, armys! I totally agree on the Busan concert. They really gave it their all because it was their last group concert before their military service. Agree also on the Mic Drop - Run BTS, but I would also really recommend the rapline's Cypher pt 3 performance from that concert. There are no words!
I am 70 yo, introduced to BTS by my granddaughter who was a Fan of KPop, I remember well I was not impressed of their Débute, due to the Hard Hip Hop theme I was never a fan of, but fell head over heels in 2016 after attending with my same granddaughter they’re ‘WINGS’ Concert. The goosebumps I got, I still get when I see clips or hear certain songs from that Album. Love you had these young Army nerds who are guiding you down the rabbit hole. Wonderful and refreshing show 💜 💜 💜 I hope you have them on again!
It is interesting how important the first experience is with BTS related to conversion. I first discovered them in January 2023 this year from the Fake Love music video. It was the perfect entry song for me and i went down the rabbit hole. If i had heard any of the english songs first like dynamite, butter, or PTD or any of the other title tracks or any of their early stuff it never would have happened. Before disvering them i would have said that the genres i would NEVER listen to would be hip hop, rap, jazz, and R&B. Lol, well look at me now. My BTS and solo playlist is 15 hours long and they opened my mind (and ears) to a whole new world of music.
Ah…this episode is a chef’s kiss! Saya and Paroma are so engaging! Also their wealth of BTS knowledge, their insights and observations are fantastic. You two have just hit a new level which other reactors have not even imagined exists! I purple all four of you 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 💜💜 💜💜🙏! 74 year old Army living in Sweden.
I would like to echo many of the comments in that Saya and Paroma were such great guests! Their knowledge and comments definitely added to the reaction. And thank you to the two of you for doing more than being amazed by these young men. I too watch many reactions and I usually stop after a few minutes because as Saya said, I want to learn something from the reaction, whether it's a lyrical breakdown, musical breakdown (I really appreciate these), or production breakdown. After watching this reaction, I did watch the Busan concert again and it was emotional for me. I know many recommended the first three songs, which I agree, but you get different glimpses of their journey in various sections. Perhaps you can have Saya and Paroma back if you watch this again because there's so much context and history there. Every time I watch it, I see something different. Now that some of the members have enlisted, their performance and expressions during the concert makes me cry. There is a fan-made series called the Rise of Bangtan and it's so well done. And especially after watching these performances, you may want to check them out. It shows their pre-debut clips that puts together their history. I know as a baby Army early on, I watched those to get some history lessons. As far as how to proceed down your rabbit hole, I don't think there is a wrong way. I've seen reactors go from the beginning, others go backwards in time. Have fun and I hope you come to love and appreciate these remarkable young men not just as great artists as they are but also as great people. I'm looking forward to your journey!
me too, if I heard them before during their debut, I wouldn't have became a fan, but lookat that, the rapline became my bias 🤭... but also, for a debut song, that's so intense it's cool. also I love how she mentioned the school culture of Korea, cuz the next album's gonna talk about that too
It was great!! Your guests so good at explaining the concept of the song and everything, thank you, I loved it, please continue knowing and hearing BTS. We'll be with you all the way. 😊❤
I'm so happy to see such amazing pretty army giving you such good information abt their debut, their message to the youth and contextualizing that with their reality. It was really cool that Johnny picked up on the "make money make money money" reference (?) when they sing "Ni ggumi mwoni, ni ggumi mwoni, mwoni" (what's your dream?), it's SO good. In my opinion this BTS is still very authentic but less diverse, since many of the members were just starting to know their musical personalities and unique tastes, their music was mostly built around the ones who had more experience: RM and Suga, who were both the biggest hiphop nerds and both worked VERY hard on writting and producing for this album. Quoting their main producer, PDog: "Korean mainstream hiphop is more about doing love stories through rap. Or having YG Entertainment's (one of the big 3 kpop companies) style of swagger. You really need to have a lot of money or something to boast abt to do that. Our boys did not have that. [...] Si-hyunk (Band PD) suggested that the members participate because hiphop is abt telling their own stories. We had many meetings with the members. From the theme of the lyrics down to everything we would talk abt the kind of music THEY wanted to do". So while the presentation is a bit rougher and carriers less of their individual personalities (as a whole), this wasn't just "what the company wanted them to do", it was still very much true to what they wanted to present as young artists entering the kpop industry. BTS has many songs with political messages, they are never afraid of challenging the norms and speaking to and for the people who are suffering. Thnks for the reaction I loved it. Can't wait for what comes next 😆
This was great!!! A winning combination of seasoned ARMY with intelligent new reactors! Sometimes I don't like to watch new reactors because they know so little about BTS, but with this kind of combination, the reactors can get immediate schooling on BTS history! Awesome guests!!! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
I absolutely love this format of inviting ARMY on for your reactions. 1st with Taylor and now with Saya and Paroma. It adds such a unique twist to BTS reactions to do it with ARMY partners and lol those ladies are amazing representation of ARMY.
I loved this reaction with your guests. I came to it almost at the end so I will watch it again from the beginning. I also commend you for having army as guests to have discussions. Exploring BTS from the beginning is great however it’s a long journey so I also recommend that you watch Jungkook’s song Standing Next to You soon rather than later. I am so sure that you will enjoy it. Please bring your guests back for some of your future reactions. Borahae 💜!
BTS also released a few songs before their debut, it wasn't just promos and social media interaction. There were actual songs they released, mostly covers of known songs.
Thanks for giving us the opportunity to go in this journey with you, watching other people discover these amazing guys, these great artists and human beings, with honesty and an open mind makes me really happy, I can't start to explain how much they mean to me. 😊
I 100% agree to watch the Busan concert and the opening triptych. I went to the theatre to watch this having only seen Dreamers on the World Cup broadcast, and was just starting down the rabbit hole. That opening sequence was an amazing introduction to BTS.
10:45 As a note: it wasn't pre-debut promo as we know it today (maybe 1 week ahead, or 1 month ahead of debut), they had been (as the Taylor guide explained) filming short vlogs since 2012, and telling about the process and then when the debut was closer they also shared that on a vlog and said "until after the debut" in a OT6 vlog (we didn't know about Tae, V, then). They had a twitter account, yes! And they replied to people there as well as shared stuff, music recommendations or anecdotes. So the people that you see there are mostly people who'd followed this 6+ month journey of them on UA-cam+Twitter+Soundcloud (they uploaded themselves): vlogs, covers and such. And probably some curious people as well.
she is so right by saying that your channel is refreshing ! i love hearing johnny reproduce the bass line and focusing on the production as richard really deep dives into how they control their tones and breaths, we're tired of people simply sitting there, saying a few enthusiastic "wow"s and moving on. Please never hesitate to pause the video or go back as much as you want or need while reacting, it's never annoying, quite the contrary, it lets us know which part caught your attention ! once again, thank you so much
Saya and Paroma, you were the cutest Armys, thanks so much for spreading your love for our boys and I appreciate your knowledge about our invaluable boys. And shout out to you guys for giving such an opportunity to the Army to express themselves. I will be looking for your next reaction if you can decide of course 🤣🤣. Great reactors and musicians! Borahae!💜
Sugas age and experience with music and singers gave him the knowledge to spot the best career path fir a sunger when he heard their voice. To think that he went to the higher ups when they were trying to train Jimen to be a rapper; he went to them to tell them that "Jimen is not a rapper, Jimen will be a great vocalist and must continue to be trained in that direction" so glad he had a rapport with them; he also asked them to give the staff a raise! Lol
First things first: let me agree that the Busan concert, or at least the first three songs from it, would be SO epic after watching their debut performance!!!! Consider this a vote for it to be your next watch. I LOVE that you bring ARMYs in your videos. I've never seen a channel do it to this extent and it's really cool. And just the way that you're reacting, putting thought into each content you choose to watch next and listening to ARMYs for recommandations... I agree with Saya, your channel is one of the few good ones. Paroma, Saya, it was a pleasure to see you teach them about the members! Thank you for being ARMY's voice in this video:)
I LOVE THIS! This is actually the first time I’ve ever seen a reaction video that brings in other ARMYs and I have watched a lot lol. You guys put so much effort and creativity into your videos and I want to thank you so much for your support of BTS 💜
36:05 It's worth remembering that RM scored in the top 1% of the country on his college entrance exams. He was a SUCCESSFUL product of that study machine... and he turned his back on it to pursue his art instead. So when HE says, don't sacrifice your dreams just because society tells you to join the rat race, he REALLY put his money where his mouth is.
This was such a fun & informative reaction! Not that you guys don’t already provide that, but the lovely ARMYs elevated it by adding context & trivia tidbits to the technical aspects’ discussion. Also, I know it’s a big ask but YES to a reaction of at least the start of the Busan concert (Mic Drop & Run BTS). Run BTS (song) looks back on their journey and ponders on the possible “keys” to reaching the success level they are at now and what they might still do. It truly would be great as a follow up to their debut showcase.
I'm just starting the reaction, but tidbit info There is no "We are Bulletproof pt.3" per se. Sure there's We Are Bulletproof pt.1, a pre-debut song, and We Are Bulletproof pt.2, which made it into their first mini-album. But the next "We Are Bulletproof" song was released as "We Are Bulletproof: Eternal" in their 2020-released album "Map of the Soul: 7"
Siempre hay que estudiar para entender las canciones de bts 😅. Los albumes de bts es como leer un libro.Tienen demasiado contenido para ver y tienes que estar al dia! Army lo hicieron excelente 💜
I support Paroma's prayer that you do the 3 opening songs in the Busan concert X 1000! It is literally the first and ONLY performance of the song "Run BTS" and there was so much anticipation of how it would be that the atmosphere is electrified, the crowd reaction is huge, the band is superpowered, and the boys were so psyched up to deliver it - the payoff is unbelievable. Like Paroma, I watched it over and over and over, and the adrenaline never lets up.
Thank you to all 4 of you for a fun and informative reaction, from a fellow nerd! 🤓💜 Re: the Busan concert, may I request you do both the opening number and the next one? Especially notice the (very quick!) transition between MIC DROP and Run BTS. In some videos, you can't hear over the screams of the audience, but I bet we can hear it well on the Prime video. 💜
Loooved this reaction, and so happy to meet these two ARMY! Saya and Paroma, you are wonderful 💜 This channel is great, looking forward to the next segment.
This was so fun! I haven't watched their showcase since I was baby ARMY a few years ago. Thank you for the fun trip back! I love the idea of juxtaposing their first performance with their most recent performance next. If you do watch Yet to Come in Busan, some context for why ARMY go especially wild for the song Run BTS: The 3-disc anthology album Proof came out June 2022, and it had 3 new songs, one of which was Run BTS. It's a more edgy, hip-hop song than we'd had from them in years, and many of us were VERY excited to revisit that style from them. When they performed it at the YTC concert a few months later, we lost our minds cuz they had all-out hip-hop dance choreo for it too! It felt kinda like a throwback while also being brand new. A big thank you to the ARMY guests, who were so eloquent and thoughtful in everything they had to say! Borahae 💜
This is indeed a very interesting and enjoyable reaction video. The two gracious guests added more context to the observations made by the hosts. Their exchange gave us viewers, especially new ARMYs, a clearer understanding of the situation. This kind of exchange makes it more interesting and different from other reactions and much more preferable to watch.
re: Jin-- In the early days, Jin felt very strongly (whether or not it was true) that he didn't bring much to the table in the way of talent compared to the other members. Dance didn't come easy to him, he didn't rap, and he didn't have a voice like Jungkook's. He doesn't often talk about such thoughts because he only wants to give happy things to ARMY, but he *does* share them in his music. That's how we got the heartbreaking masterpiece AWAKE: ""Maybe I, I can never fly / I can't fly like the flower petals over there / Or as though I have wings, yeah / Maybe I, I can't touch the sky / Still, I want to stretch my hand out / I want to run, just a bit more" Jin worked his *butt* off to achieve the heights he has, and it's worth thinking about that when you see him dancing something like ON or singing EPIPHANY. It blows me away how well he utilizes all the colors of his voice-- in DIONYSUS you hear everything from his silvery high notes to the gutteral growl he has here, to an honest-to-god rock scream.
Your best reaction yet. The ARMYs were spot on and didn’t go off on tangents but answered questions or explained what was going on in the videos, very proud of them, they represented ARMY so well. When l think of ARMY , this is what comes to mind the intelligent, diverse ,happy people who have found the key to loving themselves through BTS.
I knew of Bts since their debut years but only got into them in 2019 especially during pandemic as my lil sister showed me many of their MVs. I really got into them as I listened to euphoria in tv atarirang. A song I always heard and also my peers heard was boy in love which I really like. The youth particularly students in my country were surpisingly into and up to date with kpop during the late 2000s and early 2010s despite Internet being available to us only at the start of the new century.
Hola chicos, gracias por ser respetuosos y objetivos en su análisis, me gustó la participación de las dos Army (fueron precisas) . Creo que les gustará el conciento Yet to come de Busan, espero que puedan verlo pronto!!!. 😊
Thanks guys! So enjoyed it. It’s very refreshing to get the insights and the backstory straight from fellow Armys within the reaction video. Looking forward to more videos like this. 💜💜
This was such an insightful, intelligent and entertaining reaction video! I love these 2 ladies! I love the ARMY fandom because I keep learning new things even if I've been an ARMY myself for a while. This is a great collaborative reaction video! Throga, you guys are refreshing and I truly appreciate your genuine interest in BTS. Keep those BTS reaction videos coming and enjoy your journey into the purple rabbithole.
You were all smiling the whole time. This is what we all long for. Joy. BTS's music isn't particularly special to me. however, BTS as people and artists are amazing, outstanding. Every time I see them I have a smile on my face. And the smile they put on our faces has saved so many of us. The girls are amazing❤
What an amazing episode!!!!!! I loved it and those Brit Armys 💜 yes Busan is iconic and it was organized by korean government to promote Korea as candidate to 2030 World Expo. There were logistic problems regarding this concert, but BTS managed to organize their show very professionaly and Armys around the world nanaged to get the most wanted tickets in the world 😊 and travel to Busan, the home city of Jimin and Jungkook. One of Army's most wished destinations in Busan was The Magnate, Jimin's father café. He is a sweet man just like his son and he welcomed in person Armys so well they were really impressed. We like Jimin's father very much.😊
When you here Jin he was just studying acting until he signed with started training with BTS in 2010 so at them he started singing lessons. So during their wings album he sang a song Awake where he expressed his feelings that the rest of the boys were so talented but he was nothing he was just their frame, father figure. This title track talks about Big House, Big Cars, Big Rings and that is something that follows thru in many of their songs. She is right about the theme of the lyrics as well of the songs that they sing about the pressure. In fact many adults in Korea did not like the theme of their work because it was against societal norms, that hurt childrens dreams.
All of them were so young and still not really sure of who they were as people, still trying on different personas and styles as they grew. All of them were teenagers here, except Jin. Jungkook, Taehyung and Jimin were still in High School and RM and j-hope had just graduated. Jimin felt like in this time he was living a lie with his public persona. This hard, hyper-masculine image which he felt he had to portray for the hip hop style felt really false to him. He is actually a very sweet and soft person, but with a steel core. His song Lie is touching on this, and his song Filter is a celebration of him embracing the many sides of himself. While looking back on old performances like this one, on one occasion he gets emotional and is crying, and when asked what he would like to say to his younger self, he replies "Hurry and become me" because he knows how much pain he was in trying to be someone he is not. HIs father, also a very sweet man, refers to Jimin as "lovely." He now refers to himself as a Cutey, Sexy, Lovely, Sweet Guy. Jin, as the eldest was trying to portray a cool and aloof image, but in reality, he is the biggest dorky goofball, overly fond of dad jokes, puns and engaging in any insanity and physical comedy to make people smile and laugh, like ridiculous dances and pratfalls and funny faces. He often appears at the ends of concerts with things on his head, like his hair in baby doll ponytails, and stuffed animals or flowers on top of his head, or wearing goofy glasses etc. He is fond of winking, blowing kisses (his famous Jin Flying Kiss) and pulling random heart shapes out of everywhere, hidden in his clothes, in props, in his mic, etc. But in reality, Jin is actually rather insecure and shy. HIs ears often blush red while he is confidently telling people he is WWH, World Wide Handsome. He has a master's degree in acting of course. He has struggled with some imposter syndrome as well, because he came to the musical life later than any other the others. He says he loves to make people laugh because it makes him feel better himself.
Saya and Paroma! You are my kind of Armys! *hugshugs* I nerd my way into these things so much and I'm so giddy with every point you guys are touching always spot on with what I would've wanted to tell them and more! Thank You so much!👏👏👏 Thank you for having our lovelies on Throga channel! I love this so much!
THANK YOU for watching! If you enjoy this video, please hit LIKE and SUBSCRIBE or buy us a coffee at buymeacoffee.com/throga
Well done 👏🏻 💜 Thank you Richard and Johnny as always for creating this space to discuss music.
yeah
Saya is very knowledgeable.
i just wanted to come down to say exactly, this, Angela, once again you spoke from my heart 💜
nonsense, they speak like kpoppies
Your guest was such a good choice!! Great ARMY representation!!
Agree!
Saya and Paroma be setting up the standard for the next winners of Join the Reaction, best of luck and (study hard😉) 😂😂😂😂
also, new tidbit: Sir Johnny is the world wide handsome pt.2😆
hahahahaha best comment so far!
You guys were so articulate and well informed 💜 Well done girls!
I came in late and missed their names, totally agree they were wonderful 💜
And you know, I can buy that Johnny was scouted for his face but you gotta admit he's got some musical chops 😁
Saya has an amazing voice, it’s not surprising she has a podcast. ✌️💜
🤞😄 - Paroma
Haha you were both wonderful!! And we learned so much! We need to have you both on the show again :)
@@throgaWe would love that! Just give us heads up so Saya can study up. 😄 Looking forward to the next video with new contest winners!
Paroma - you both did a wonderful job.
Paroma, you and Saya were absolutely spot on and delightful in this reaction. Hope to see you as guests again.
@@busilin2487 Thank you, we would love that! 😄I'm also trying to get Saya to start her own channel to talk about BTS. 🤞
Borahae all four of you💜💜💜💜
It's so true that Jin is squishy to the core 😂 I don't think he'd even mind if we called him Marshmallow as a nickname...
For real!
I can totally hear him saying, "You know BTS?! I'm worldwide handsome, mash-a-mallow, you know!?" 😂💜
When first time I watched their early stuff like this, I was like "look at him he is angwy.. don't mad at me baby, Jinnie" Lol it was just him so cute in angry mode 😊
Your guests are delightful and incredibly well spoken.
PLEASE make them regular contributors!
For real, I'm so grateful! They were so raw... But hungry and sincere and driven. I'm glad we got to know them 💜
Thank you, Throga Chanel for continuing down this rabbit hole. Also a big thank you to Saya and Paroma. You've done so well representing us and the boys. Hopefully, the energy continues like this
I wish you guys will watch the legendary documentary series called ' THE RISE OF BANGTAN '
You will get to know soo much in details
As a Jin bias, this was so satisfying to watch. I mean, it was astonishingly well-done in general, but I just loved that. Have them on every week! :D Thanks so much, ladies, and thank you so much, Richard and Johnny.
Ahhh BTS... A shield against endless studying yet forces us to study in order to represent them well 🤣
But they are our passion 😉😂💜
- Paroma
Thank you!!!
But also, in that same concert, I want you to watch Butterfly and cry with the rest of us 😂
You both did a beautiful job, Armies 💜💜💜 thank you for representing us all so well and helping them see why we love BTS. Borahae 💜
Yes, this comment!! I love the "bookend" reference. The 1st and last performance. That would be a perfect way to really start this journey.
@@deleahsmith916 Thank you! I keep thinking about how it builds on the same musical structures of the early songs... And about what a celebration it is, especially live, of how far they've come together.
I'm here for whatever these guys do, they're lovely people, I just think it would be a great next step 😁
I agree with the Busan recommendation too..
..Butterfly was my gateway song into BTS so when they played it at Busan, I was EmOtiOnAL!
I agree… I love seeing and being with Army and reactors who have a true love and genuine interest in our guys….it’s such a beautiful thing💜💜
Agree, butterfly is definitely a top group track for me too
Thank you for being there at the beginning. We owe you early fans a debt.
@GloriaYoung-qo1ts I love that. Thank you. I can see your side and I want you to know I appreciate you. 🥺💖
71 year old Army here. The Korean age thing has now been changed to the same as international age as of last January so they all got younger. I am so jealous!!! 😁💜 Also those young ladies did a fsntastic job. They set the bar very high! 💜💜💜
This was a very good reaction. And the contest winners were awesome, very informative! Thank you for representing ARMY so well 💜
This was great!
Thank you so much!! Shout to Saya and Paroma for being amazing. Much ARMY love.
Personal observation: When you guys were discussing about Jin finding his sound in the group, I think it's similar with Jimin as well(and in one of the early on interviews I believe Jimin also talked about this)
I think it was specifically difficult for these 2 to be put in a rap heavy hip hop song is with JK & V they were able to give JK some rap verses & V the growl singing but Jimin & Jin being more of a tenors it was difficult to fit their style in.
agreed!
thank you :)
Thank you :)
This was AMAZING. So special. Such a treat.
Saya and Paroma were beautiful guests. So proud of them 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Jin was recruited specifically as "Visual", meaning for his Looks.
Lolol, youth, can be wasted...😅😂
Can hardly wait to see whats next!!
I apologise for the extremely long post, but I really wanted to retell the story as many of we ARMYS have lived it:
Before having to leave for the military service, BTS as a group were at the peak of their fame, quite literally hanging out with ridiculously worldwide influential figures in many fields even beyond music, from politics to diplomacy (e.g., see their multiple speeches at the UN and their meeting with the US President and many more examples). Or being treated as "special snowflakes who don't have to try hard", when they literally gave every hour of their youth to reach where they are now as worldwide known artists but I digress...)
At this point came the Busan concert, which was organised upon request of the Korean Government as part of a contract where the Government wanted to promote Busan as a possible city for hosting the WORLD EXPO 2030 (so once again, it's powerful people in position of authority trying to use their name and fame for their own agenda and just expecting them to do it FOR FREE, they literally had to do it out of their own pockets and Hybe's funding, the Gov didn't pay for it).
In their entire career, so many people have tried to make them pawns and never succeeded, because they are very much true to their message, they have stated from the beginning they will speak against any system or authority that is trying to make them compromise their morals and objective to protect the youth (see more examples such as Bapsae, N.O., Spring day MV and the Sewol ferry tragedy and so on, they always speak up respectfully against authority if they don't think authority is doing the right thing and they face the consequences for it.)
The boys took the creative lead of the concert and used it as their opportunity to go out with a bang.
Wow! Thank you for all of this information :)
Good job, armys! I totally agree on the Busan concert. They really gave it their all because it was their last group concert before their military service. Agree also on the Mic Drop - Run BTS, but I would also really recommend the rapline's Cypher pt 3 performance from that concert. There are no words!
They practically flipped the bird at the government officials that were there and I loved it.
Thank you, this was a lot of fun, I couldn’t stop smiling for the whole conversation/reaction. You will enjoy going down the rabbit hole 💜
I'm looking forward to your journey!
me too, if I heard them before during their debut, I wouldn't have became a fan, but lookat that, the rapline became my bias 🤭... but also, for a debut song, that's so intense it's cool.
also I love how she mentioned the school culture of Korea, cuz the next album's gonna talk about that too
These ladies outdid themselves! Gonna be hard to top this! But yes, as they said, please do Busan concert and also "Jump". V's growling is epic there!
This is such a fun channel. I love the collaboration with the subscribers 💜
It was great!! Your guests so good at explaining the concept of the song and everything, thank you, I loved it, please continue knowing and hearing BTS. We'll be with you all the way. 😊❤
Adorable guests.
I hope you all enjoyed yourselves.
These gals were the best!!!❤💜
Unless you get BTS to enter the contest, I think it’s going to be difficult to measure up to Saya and Paloma. Great job ladies.
she is so right by saying that your channel is refreshing ! i love hearing johnny reproduce the bass line and focusing on the production as richard really deep dives into how they control their tones and breaths, we're tired of people simply sitting there, saying a few enthusiastic "wow"s and moving on.
Borahae!💜
Sugas age and experience with music and singers gave him the knowledge to spot
the best career path fir a sunger when he heard their voice. Lol
Wow, Saya is so well-spoken. It was a treat listening to her comments! 💜
I like this reaction very much, your guests were amazing, thank you!
I'm just starting the reaction, but tidbit info
There is no "We are Bulletproof pt.3" per se.
41:31 "Run BTS" YES!!!!! The live performance at Busan was amazing. And the BTS members put in all that work for just the one performance.
I really enjoyed it! Also i really appreciated the intelligent and knowledgeable BTS ARMY guests 💜
Thank you to all 4 of you for a fun and informative reaction, from a fellow nerd! 🤓💜
Re: the Busan concert, may I request you do both the opening number and the next one?
This was so cool! Loved Saya and Paroma as guests and they are so knowledgeable about BTS. Very cool reaction💜💜
re: Jin-- In the early days, Jin felt very strongly (whether or not it was true) that he didn't bring much to the table in the way of talent compared to the other members. Dance didn't come easy to him, he didn't rap, and he didn't have a voice like Jungkook's.
He doesn't often talk about such thoughts because he only wants to give happy things to ARMY, but he *does* share them in his music. That's how we got the heartbreaking masterpiece AWAKE: ""Maybe I, I can never fly / I can't fly like the flower petals over there / Or as though I have wings, yeah / Maybe I, I can't touch the sky / Still, I want to stretch my hand out / I want to run, just a bit more"
Jin worked his *butt* off to achieve the heights he has, and it's worth thinking about that when you see him dancing something like ON or singing EPIPHANY. It blows me away how well he utilizes all the colors of his voice-- in DIONYSUS you hear everything from his silvery high notes to the gutteral growl he has here, to an honest-to-god rock scream.
I hate that I can only like this once! Amazing reaction. Thank you
Your best reaction yet.
I smiled my way through this reaction. Saya and Paroma did a fantastic job. Thank you for letting us follow you on this journey 💜💜
Thank You so much!👏👏👏
