    I love these videos. You actually show HOW to work on these Mk1s, As opposed to showing yourself just talk about it. You are giving confidence for me to dive in deeper into these cars. I just replaced my wiper stalk using your ignition video as a guide

    I watched your every episode, including new bushings, bushings. You show everything necessary for the work and you do it so nicely that it is a pleasure to watch. Of course with a good car choice. Compliments!

    I drive a Mazda CX3. My dad had two Scirocco's and sold them to my bud who merged them to one car, we went on alot of adventures in that car, Loved it!
    Hope you guys are well, Your old friend Tony!

      Hey Tony! Great to hear from you! Thanks for stopping by! The pandemic has definitely been a weird time - I was longing for a little 80s nostalgia. I have a long way to go, but I've met a lot of really passionate Scirocco owners due to these videos and cant wait to put the Cinderella cassette into the Blaupunkt and get on down the road! Hope you are doing well and are there when I post the first on road video. Take care Friend!

    Thanks very much for your series, it's been incredibly helpful. I'm doing the same project right now on my '86 which was once upon a time a show car, has also been sitting for about 10 years, but in the Pacific Northwest.

    Posting again.. Im working on my '79 Scirocco. It has a full 86 'rocco transplant. Engine, trans rear axle (for the discbrakes) etc. You painstaking detailed videos are a great additional data point for me. Thinking of getting a YT channel for myself as well. WOuld love to met sometime and compare notes. Keep up the good work !

    Hi D, great work as usual! How easy was that, you have once again inspired me to do the same 👍. I bought the Heritage poly bush set which is a dark grey colour. My 83 Scirocco isn't fitted with ani roll bars so saved a few £££ there! 🤣
    Looking forward to the next instalment!

    Y su tune up o afinacion general.

    Where did you get the strut assemblies? I just did my front end. (May 2021). I had a really hard time finding new. I actually refreshed the struts, added new shocks and bushings. The control arms are definitely an interesting install. Just have to take your time. This is a fairly easy job. Wow what a difference in ride and handling. While you have all the parts removed it is a good time to replace the steering rack bushings too. Much easier to do with the control arms off. Great videos! Keep up the awesome project.

      Hey - I got my strut assemblies from www.partsplaceinc.com/. Nice people to deal with. I looked all over for the VW fuel injector removal tool and they were the only ones that had them. Ended up receiving 2 of them and will give one away when I replace the injectors. I intend to replace tie rods and drive axles - could not get the axle nuts off this go around. I suspect they will need heat. After I complete the front brakes (next) I just want to get her started. Then I'll loop back to steering and driveline items. It's been an adventure to be sure. Appreciate your support!

    These videos are so helpfull .. I plan to do all these jobs to my scirocco mk2 1992 ... I don't get it until tommorow hopefully everything comes off nice and easy like all your bits have .. only problem I'm facing so far is ordering the correct parts first time round as many sites seem to advertise multiple parts for the same car making it abit annoying when searching ...

    • @ParksandRecYT
      @ParksandRecYT  Рік тому

      If it helps my go to parts suppliers have been AutohausAZ, RockAuto, PartsPlaceInc. I've probably got 85% of everything I've done so far from them. For the really tough stuff sometimes I'd had luck with Heritage Parts Centre, some of the other UK-based online auto parts vendors and good old EBay. And (coming in a future video) the generosity of some of the folks that watch these videos. Hope your project works out!

    Could you please please show the workings of the auxiliary air valve and how to correctly test and if there are ways of fixing one that doesn't work 🙏 I drive a MK2 Scirocco GTX 1.8 DX 8 valve in the UK.

      Wow - that's a tough one. Not sure I'll need to go there, but a quick look on VWVortex has a bunch of info on it if you have time to browse. Stay tuned!

    LOVE THE CONTRENT. I have a 86 vw scirocco 16v i'm turboing currently. was the inner and out tie rods in good condition? i'm actually using your video to do my gas tank.

    • @ParksandRecYT
      @ParksandRecYT  3 роки тому

      Thanks - I appreciate the comment! I really did not look too hard at the tie rods this go around, but I do have new rods ready to go - bought the tool just for the job. I also have new drive axles, but could not get the axle nuts off. I assume I'll have to break out the torch and they will have to wait. Next is front brakes then its time to get her running. Always wanted a 16V - the turbo sounds like a great upgrade. I'm on the lookout for a clean 2.8l AAA VR6 if you have any leads... Thanks again for the support!

    What solution did you use to clean the wheel wells? Doing this to my car right now. Thanks in advance.

    • @ParksandRecYT
      @ParksandRecYT  3 роки тому +1

      I used Tub-o-Towels heavy duty cleaning wipes to get the big grease off then a solution of Simply Green and water to finish up. Good luck!

    Just about to tackle this myself, and was wondering if it's neccessary to remove the brake calipers? I was thinking if you keep the steering knuckle jacked up at the same height throughout, the caliper could stay on?

    • @ParksandRecYT
      @ParksandRecYT  3 роки тому

      Not so sure, the caliper frames alone make it difficult to reach the control arm ball joint nut.

    • @davidheaton5765
      @davidheaton5765 3 роки тому

      @@ParksandRecYT Agreed! Tackled this last night and ended up just taking the caliper off just as you did mate. Is it strange that I cant wait to clean out the wheel arches?!

    How do you change the damper units in front?

    • @prawny12009
      @prawny12009 Рік тому

      Just pulled some apart expecting slot in damper units, after removing the lock ring I gave them a yank only to get covered in oil
      My originals (87 scala MK2) are wet dampers not inserts.
