    GREAT Video! I have an 81S that my boys and I are about to tackle. This is very helpful. You've done a superb, careful job of including the sorts of fine detail that one ordinarily has to discover for oneself. Thank you!!

    Quick update for you. Just had my own tank refitted by a local garage 😬. I did supply them with a pair of NOS Mk1 Golf metal fuel lines. Pleased I did, as this was where the majority of the corrosion problem was.
    Now the carb jets have been cleaned and she's supping on clean fuel the drive home was a joy! Yes it did cost me in time, but worth it!
    Oh guess what, they found out my ignition barrel was dodgy too... think there might be a vid on how to change that somewhere!!! 😆

      NICE! Glad to hear she's on the road again. I'm still waiting on fuel filter parts so I'll have to wait a bit more to try to start my Mk2 and see if I put the rear end together correctly. Those ignition modules are a poor design to be sure. Thanks for the update! Appreciate your comments.

    Very interesting an detailed, I've found a scirocco with 30k miles on it for a good price with a dead fuel pump presumably. Looking forward to hopefully working on that car with help from this :). Scirocco and Volvo 200 are so beautifully boxy

      Hope it works out - 30K miles is a find! Take a look at the fuel pump relay before you start as well.

    The gravity/vent valve has a black hose on the top of it. When I pulled on it, it was not connected to anything. According my Bentlley Manual the diagram says it goes to the Expansion tank. Do you happen to remember what you came across? I have an red 85 rocco just like yours :) Thank you for posting all these scirocco videos

    W0W there's More videos!? ! I've had my 1984 Scirocco sitting for 26 years. Was Rear Ended, Failed to get insurance companies to make me & my car Whole. It Ran GREAT, could eat off engine, [but don't]. Insurance Co had car for 2 months, would not return, Finally Demanded Return, only to receive it Flooded with Water, & NOT Running. Never could get it running since. Quite bummed. Forgotten much of what i learned, tho, still have Book, Car, and working on Desire; This will sure help, *Cheers!* _sorry for rant_

    Could you tell me where you bought the fuel sending unit that you took the float from? Thanks for sharing these videos. I have a scirroco engine on my WV rabbit

    • @ParksandRecYT
      @ParksandRecYT  2 роки тому +1

      It was sort of a fail. I bought one on ebay which indicated it fit a Scirocco, but ultimately it did not. I took the float from it as it was a direct match. Best I could say at this point is to check out the photos for one similar. Probably not much help. Sorry. Good luck.
