Thank you for this full tutorial with links to buy the parts! You got a new subscriber with a useful video like this. I'm new to soldering and this seems like a good way to get a quality iron for a good price.
What type of wire should I use to connect everything? I bought all the components you linked but I'm not sure the wire type was listed. Is there a specific type of connector I should get with the wire?

@@Jacob-vx4zw hi there when you get the soldering iron handle please make sure you check the connection diagram of the wires from the connector to the iron tip because you need to modify some pin orientation. About the wires I used for the mains AC voltage stripped a pc power cord and used and from the power supply to controller board used wires from an old pc power supply.

@@SymbolTech21 Thank you! Do you have a link for the jumper cable you used and the power adapter on the back (the small one with the yellow cable). I was not able to find a link.

@@Jacob-vx4zw I already changed that connector because I installed the connector which I received on the last mailbag video. Have a look on that video and you will find the link on that video description. I changed because should have 2 separate wires that goes on 2 different locations on the soldering iron controller board and when I'm using the part for swapping the iron tips will show on display as well that I'm changing the tip

Hi Tony, awesome video, great build, I’ll be looking into building one of these also, thanks for the links, couple of questions, do you use ferrules for the screw mounts? What is your son’s name? He’s growing very fast.
Oh and also just wanted to tell you, the difference in the controller boards, one is LCD and the other is OLED. Just thought I’d let you know.. keep up the amazing work mate 🤙🏼🇦🇺

@@Johadart I used some plastic spacers harvested from some old computers to fit the power supply. My son name is Anthony and yea is growing fast already 2 years old soon I need to send him to school. I'm happy to heard that you may want to build one similar soldering station and stay tuned because I learn how to calibrate it and use the settings to make it work properly so I will have an other video about this soon.

@@Johadart hi Joe, if you will use the same soldering handle please check the wires connection from the tip to the connector as per connection diagram from the control board listing link to make sure it's ok because for mine I needed to make some modifications swap some pins around on the connector

It's cheap to build and it's really powerful. Definitely much better than my old t12 station

Is there an advantage in building this over the premade t245 stations available on AliExpress for around $50?

@@dudicoco definitely will cost less than that and I don't know about which soldering station premade you are mentioning. Maybe that one don't have the option to can use more options on iron tips
