I had an RC track in my yard years back and I built a elevated drivers stand. That was the best addition to the track, it made it so much better to drive. Kenny seems to be able to build anything.

Don't think I have ever seen any engine fire up and idle like that for the first time on a new build. Very impressive. Sounds wicked! Billy looked a little surprised and happy at the same time. As usual you guys rock.

I had the same issue with 2 MSD boxes got fed up with them and went back to HEI distributor on my 1980 Monte Carlo it's got a small block 327 out of a old vette I went threw and did some up grades and runs like a champ. Many blessings to you and your family
Hey Bill, I'm a younger guy (26) but have done alot of studying and messing around with making relatively hot street engines (specifically small block and big block chevy) get better economy and actually run and drive a hell of alot better on the street. And learned using some tips and tricks from David vizards book about how to tune the vacuum advance makes a hot small block get better economy and way more driveable.
At the end, when he said; It drives me crazy. Talking about the tools. The way Old Man closed his eyes and scrunched his face up you sure could tell. Bill meant that shit boy !!! Aloha...\000/

I hear that MSD quality control has gone down hill the last 4 yrs. Your the 5th person I have heard about the 6AL boxes having issues in the last 3yrs. Malibu does sound good. Keep up the great work and love the content on your channel.
Agree with the MSD quality. We went through 3 boxes. First had no coil trigger out of box, second ran in the bay but quit after moving 100 feet and third lasted 3 months. It has a HEI now.

Same here we have 3 6AL MSD boxes for our dirt late model racecar. We only had 2 at first and one went bad so we bought another one and it would start the car but would run like the coil was breaking down with the new ones so we ended up putting the old one with the chips and it ran perfectly
I had that problem with a MSD 6AL earlier this year. Pulled up to a big bracket race a few hours from home, car was good the day before, unloaded it and the MSD box was doing the same thing would run for a few minutes and die randomly. It was 3 years old and had to replace it. Had a regular 6A in the car for 15 or so years before that. They don’t make em like they used to.

I live in El Paso, tx , where the MSD factory is located, I met a marketing exec who told me “if you have the older MSD boxes, keep ‘em because with their new marketing strategy the newer boxes are made in China”. Maybe that’s part of the problem w the new unit?? I enjoy the channel, thanks for the content.

The Malibu sounds good and should perform well with the 292 duration. I'd originally went with a 320 in my sb 66 Ford Fairlane but within a week or so I changed to the 292 and man, what a difference it made. 🇺🇸

I got a 406 in the machine shop (3 months). Every morning when I get up, I robot walk (arthritis) to my computer and eat breakfast watching yours and the kids videos. I finally got monotized a few months ago but I need editing education. Lol.
Boy, that Malibu sounds healthy!! As far as anything man made there is going to be the occasional issues from time to time but, at the end of the day MSD still makes some of the best ignition products known to man!
If I was building a 400 small block and wanted to do valve lashing less and have to worry about lifters collapsing or something going wrong with the hydraulics would you choose a solid roller lifter or a hydraulic roller lifter and why. Personally I think a solid roller lifter is going to weigh less on the valvetrain and have last valve float at higher RPMs 6500 - 8000 and possibly a little less maintenance.
Your not the first one that I have watched on UA-cam thats having troubling with those msd boxes..everyone seems to be having the same problem with them.. maybe a bad run of them ? Who knows .. but man .. did that malibu ever fire up quick an run good.. wow that was great 👍.. good luck racing this weekend ..🏆👍

I went through 2 MSD 6a boxes and went with a crane cams hi-6 and never looked back. Malibu sounds amazing!

I love my pro billet HEI it's so tunable .100 rpm limiter adjustments springs stop bushings lockout parts all came with it and not 1 problem.

we did try to run 6Al in jet sprint boat it could not handle the vibration,HEI work and was just reliable

Had a similar experience with 6AL box couple months ago brand new and thing was junk got another one no issues so far
