I saw it for the first time last december at an old theater on a throwback retro showing.. .. they had beer & wine at the theatre..... I saw it and I loved it.
In the Netherlands, we have an NGO that supports refugees all over the world. I'll never forget the CEO talking about what stroke her most when she first visited a refugee camp in Africa. She thought everyone would be talking about that horrible war, the losses they had, the torture they'd witnessed and so on. But what she found was people gossiping about the love life of the neighbor - how they had been seen flirting with someone else. For me, this turned refugees into ordinary people. They are just like you and me. It's one of the reasons why I've done volunteer work with them.
In the library archives of the accounts of slaves in America- who were freed in the 1850s and were around during audio visual recording in the 1950s and 60s-were _hugely_ controversial because everyone wanted to hear their personal accounts of all the horrors of American slavery, and all they got was neighborhood gossip, and recipes for chicken. Turns out the everyday slaves weren't thinking about constitutional reform and lincolns well written speeches...
Its cool on this day & age, we have UA-cam to see deleted scenes.....these are also featured on the DVD too. Isn't technology great. We live in magnificent times.
I still have the statue of these ladies with sticks on their back. My nextdoor neighbours, the lovely mellors daughters went to live in Kenya and alway brought back presents for us kids. I think we got the statue in 1975.
why oh why was that deleted! That's the best! I hear so many idiotic questions about my "culture", and relationships there. A scene like that, in a mainstream movie would make the west a little less deluded!
+Andrew smith. I think you have missed the whole point of the scene - which was to show even where people do live in the most difficult conditions they have love and humour. I do not think the scene changes the tone in any way.
+ Andrew Smith. I am presently living in one of the world's poorest countries. I have found more day to day good humour here than in I have found in Sydney or London. People smile and greet you, and do not get upset at relatively small things. I know I am much happier here than in the rat race in developed countries.
Again l can’t believe they left that out and again they are the lucky ones they live free and can walk the land without roads and fences and paths that go round in circles, their free and their freedom brings them great happiness
Can we just have a LOVE ACTUALLY movie with all the deleted scenes left in? Does it exist? A more enriched, detailed LOVE ACTUALLY experience please and thank you.
American attention spans, primarily. And of course Americans believe they cornered the market in rom-coms. Maybe they did, as "Love Actually" is more than just that. It has things to say, and says them ... with the inspiring help of the Holy Spirit ... as the Spirit of Love and Truth.
Surely this is the most deserving movie for a DIRECTORS CUT,
I know. All of the scenes I see are so good
genuinely teared up this movie is my absolute favorite movie of all time and I adore this scene

Times in which beautiful, meaningful things can be spread; as well as just evil ones.
I agree with you.
Those last two scenes - I can't BELIEVE they got cut

It's better they didn't include this. It doesn't fit with the rest of the film.
yes, it's such a beautiful scene but I guess it would have been really hard to make it fit.
Funny, I disagree. I believe it totally fits in the movie and it would have been beautiful 'cause Love Actually IS All Around Us. :))

How could this fit into a comedy film?
+Andrew Smith. Because it's as much a humorous take on love as any of the other stories.
But it's set in a desert landscape where people are living in severe poverty - that would bring the tone down in a mostly lighthearted film.

Can't include it now, it'd be considered "opposite of sleep" and a "box tick."
That scene is priceless
That's really sweet.

Their lives are hard and a struggle.
If you have any health problems, good luck there!

Why they deleted some of the scenes was an insult to the film.😢

Ughh wish they hadn’t deleted this scene
is this lingala?
Great women!
:)
Should have got rid of everything with Knightly in instead
