THAAAAANK YOU. 16 minutes and every minute is informative and no fillers. You did a great job and this helped seal the deal. Much obliged! Seriously, appreciate it. Was paralysed over all the choices and a good video always help to make decisions over the ones they don’t have a thorough detailed overview.
So glad to hear that (the part about the video being helpful- not the part about feeling paralyzed 😁). As far as messenger bags go, I don't think it's possible to find a better one. And Tenba just makes the toughest stuff around. My 15" bag is still holding up perfectly and seriously looks brand new. I gave the 13" to a friend last year who's been traveling everywhere with it, and it also still looks and works like new.
Oftentimes reviews don't go into this kind of detail. And the fact this isn't sponsored by any company is huge. Anyways, I purchased the DNA 16 Pro based on your video. It just arrived and I just wanted to say thank you very much.
Best review I've seen of these bags, and one of the few where the camera is, in my opinion properly placed within it. Most other reviews show a camera jammed at one end of the bag. This totally defeats the benefit of the quick access top zip. Slide the bag around to the front, unzip and lift the camera out straight to your eye ready to shoot. I've had my DNA 11 for 10 years and now need to carry a larger 13 inch laptop when travelling so upgrading to a newer 13 model. The few negatives I found are similar to yourself. 1. Velcro for laptop section sometimes eats the soft padded camera section 2. Edge of the waterproof bottom has a sharp edge where it folds and joins with the rest of the bag, and this has started to get worn.😢 3. Grippy glue dot surface on the strap rubbed off, I ended up replacing it with a more cushioned strap pad. Not had much issue with the top zip, but usually pull the fabric straight before unzipping. Hoping the newer model bag has made some improvements, not that there was much to improve on. At least the water proof base now extends up the side of the bag a bit so that definitely looks better, but I do prefer the appearance of the older bag.
This review is SUPER informative. Thanks! I've been on the hunt for a new bag for a long time and I think this did it for me. Also, snacks and dual exterior zippers for the win. Ha!
I have the old tenba messenger that I’ve carried for over 10 years. Need to upgrade now because it looks dingy but it’s still holding up! Seeing this review I’m straight off getting the dna 15 slim. I thought the sleek design of slings was nice but knowing from experience how great tenba bags are, you literally convinced me of getting the the dna
Awesome review. Specially because you compare the sizes and that's something hard to find out just watching photos on Amazon. I really enjoyed the video, good work :)
What I really like about this bag your showcasing too is how nice it looks. I feel like lots of camera bags are awesome for actual use, but don't have too appealing of an exterior. This ticks all the boxes!
I've had DNA13 for 4 years and I absolutely love it. I would never again buy a bag without the top zipper access (I haven't had any issues with the zipper). And the bag holds rain so well that I've never even considered using the rain cover.
I have the same bag. I use it when I need to change lenses on a shoot or want to travel light. It has an impossible amount of pockets for its size and has really high quality materials. Perfect for a computer or iPad as well. Only problem is if I ever load it up too heavy and wish I had brought my Lowepro Protactic.
Awesome video. Thank you. Don't really get the dislikes, the video is very informative. I just ordered the non-slim, 15'' version of the bag at a 16% discount, which, by the way, is now the old version as they've come up with a new one, it seems. Happy with my purchase even if the bag is yet to arrive.
At 5:18 you mention that the DNA 15 Slim has a small tablet pocket. And looking at your bag, it is small. However, I just bought a 15 Slim myself, and the tablet pocket is much larger, where I can store my iPad Pro 12”. I’m guessing Tenba must have altered the design recently
great video. i am considering buying this bag. i was wondering if the slim version is big enough to fit a change of clothes so it can be used for an overnight camera bag? example: 1 camera with 24-70 attached. 1-2 extra lenses, additional gear like batterys, chargers, filters, ipad, clothes (2xtshirts 2xsocks 2xboxers 1xpants 1xsweater)
I enjoyed this review very much. Just one thing for me is missing - the photo gear capacity. How much or what do you cram in? There are just 3 'sections'. I don't know how you fit in any more than one item in each 'section'. So that might be a lens in each of the two side 'sections' and a camera with lens fitted in the middle. Is that the total capacity? Or is there the capability of stacking more than one lens in each section without them suffering damage due to their proximity, perhaps a padded divider?
The sections are pretty deep, definitely enough for most 70-200 or even 100-400mm lenses. It can also usually fit a full size body with a grip and medium size lens attached.
Not too much of a difference- just the thickness. I did always feel that sometimes my 13 got a bit bulky, which is why I went with the "Slim" when I got the 15.

I was just looking at the Tenba DNA Slim 16 Slim (currently on sale) and I think you've sold me. Thank you for this comprehensive review.
Oftentimes reviews don't go into this kind of detail. And the fact this isn't sponsored by any company is huge. Anyways, I purchased the DNA 16 Pro based on your video. It just arrived and I just wanted to say thank you very much.
Thanks Mark! I'm in rainy NYC with the bag right now and it just keeps working super well. Still looks brand new too!

It's really all about the snacks, right?

I'm glad it helped! Clearly you already know how tough these bags are, but wow, they really last!
I have the smaller version for my micro 4/3 gear and I love it. Excellent build quality, super easy access and it looks really nice.
Couldn't agree more!
Awesome review. Specially because you compare the sizes and that's something hard to find out just watching photos on Amazon. I really enjoyed the video, good work :)
Glad it helped- I always have a hard time judging actual size of products based on photos too.
I still use a Tenba P2 bought some 40 years ago. Made in usa

It’s really sharp. The gray one is super nice, but I’m a sucker for anything blue/teal.
@@tombuck A little bit of colour never hurt nobody ;)
Agree with you. I've had the DNA15 for several years now. It is great.
I've had DNA13 for 4 years and I absolutely love it. I would never again buy a bag without the top zipper access (I haven't had any issues with the zipper). And the bag holds rain so well that I've never even considered using the rain cover.
I definite have forgotten that the rain cover is an option 😁

That’s also my problem with camera bags- I tend to overload them and the. Forget that I still have to carry ALL that gear. 😬

I'm sure you'll love it! I didn't know there was a new version, that's awesome.
You don't look like you eat a lot of snacks. ;) Great review. It is very helpful. You have a great on-camera pressence. Keep up the good work!
Haha, the bowl of "leftover" Halloween candy that's rapidly disappearing begs to differ 😬
I also think that the slim versions are the best :)
I think they're definitely the most practical/functional.
I love the Tenba DNA bags 👍🏼
They're unbelievably durable! I know I say that in this video, but it's hard to really describe how good they are.
16” on the diagonal. But you know that!
I have the same bag. I love it.
Hi, very thorough video, question though what about tripod?
I wish all camera bags had an internal zipper on top, and under the flap, that you could keep closed to protect against thieves in touristic areas.
At 5:18 you mention that the DNA 15 Slim has a small tablet pocket. And looking at your bag, it is small.
However, I just bought a 15 Slim myself, and the tablet pocket is much larger, where I can store my iPad Pro 12”.

That would be great! Mine definitely can’t hold the 12.9 iPad.
Awesome review. Have you ever had water seep through the top zipper?
Nope, no issues there. 👍
Daaaaamn. $260 in CAD :(. I'll keep an eye out for a sale!
It’s pricey, but it’ll last forever. 👍
i just watch your video in 360p
that's nice !!!!!

Hmm. That might be a tight fit unless you’re REALLY good at wrapping your clothes tightly.
@@tombuck now that you have used both bags do you find the 15 to slim or is the 13 to fat?
Does the 13 can accomodate a sony alpha , with a 28-75 ,70-200gm,and85mm lens..?
I don’t think the 70-200 would fit, but everything else will.

It's sad that they don't make this version anymore
nice, only video so far with a water test!
I only did the test because I used the bag so much that I trusted it. 😁
Is there much difference between the DNA 15 and the DNA 15 slim/special edition?
Not too much of a difference- just the thickness. I did always feel that sometimes my 13 got a bit bulky, which is why I went with the "Slim" when I got the 15.
@@tombuck cheers thanks for the reply
Do you shoot this videos in 1080 and upload at 4k with EOS R?
Yep, that’s what I’ve been doing for the past 6 months or so 👍
Which Camera Do You Use ?
I use the Canon EOS R with the Sigma 24 1.4 Art Series lens. 😎
Liked for snacks.
where is it made?
I can't support anything made in China
They are from China
Nice review, but boy were you neat-picking over your complaints.
