April, as with most first-time and established authors in the competitive genre of children's picture books, I would think the desire to publish a book of award-winning caliber is a natural part of the drive behind years of work and dedication. Thus, wouldn't the availability of the critiquing service provided by Annie and Wining Writers be an additional and invaluable tool prior to beginning the costly printing process (POD or offset)?

I had a book swimming in my head for over 25 years. It was a memoir about the time I returned to try and win back my first love after eight years apart. I had ended over 100 years of abuse (she knew my family very well) because I had wanted to marry that girl and couldn't fathom the idea of her having to go through that. So I succeeded where three generations of my family failed and remained completely faithful to her with the idea that the story would be the grand gesture.
I didn't have the courage to write it for fear of rejection. All I had was an Iphone, an idea, and an hour of lunch each work day for four years. After eight complete re-writes at 75,000 words a pop, six full editing cycles, 120 agent/publisher rejections, it is being published independently on New Year's Eve this year and has already won three awards (and counting...it's still up for 12 more). I can tell my first love that our story was made into an award-winning novel.

I loved what Annie had to say about the points to consider when writing rhyming books. Prose or rhyme? Very clearly stated!
