I'm a Chinese 13-year-old, not a competitive swimmer but I do training for around 4000 meters, this video is such an inspiration for me to reach further beyond and to continue to improve my times! thank you!
I quit swimming almost 4 years ago when I was 13. Was kinda surprised that this video was recommended to me, but it was fun to watch some of it :). Can’t really watch all of it though because seeing swim practices stress me out (due to some events from when I did swim).
As a competitive runner for over fifty years my advice would be to wait until you retire from swimming for 50 mile run . It would beat up your legs to much and effect your kick.
At some point that’s true, but timeline conflicts with USA Team Trials. As a competitive runner first/ and coach for over 50 years there’s a distinct difference in demand on legs. Add that he’s a breaststroker it’s not worth risk. Post elite swimming career of course it’s well within Cody’s capability .
You should absolutely run an ultra! It's not like running a marathon, it should have elevation which you walk and descent/flats which you run/jog. Sure you can make it about time, but as your first it'll just be an experience and the goal should be to finish.
50mile/80km trail running is pretty intense. I've done 4 trail ultramarathons and I was a swimmer for 17 years. The two training methods, body needs and mental preparation are very different. Also, there's many variables for a 80k trail race... to consider. Not to be taken lightly.
Cody u do fantastic videos. I just love LILLI my goodness she trains so hard , that is why she is a champion 🏆 ......keep up the great work love from Australia 🇦🇺 ❤️ 💕 💗
I'm more of doing 50m freestyle. It's my thing. When I'm at my old stomping grounds Lyons Pool in Staten Island, New York for the summer on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, I meditate before getting in the pool to train to be more calm. Cody, thank you for this vlog!
Should try a Dopey Challenge or Goofy Challenge in Disney. Going through the castle is a great feeling. Still get choked up when I pass under the castle
Hey Cody! If you are looking for a good starter triathlon in Indiana, there a really good one at Eagle Creek in central Indiana. It was my first race and I go back every year!
Hi Cody love what you do. You speak about the trial in 5 month for the world championnship but you don't talk about the next olympic game in Paris 2024. Are you training for or have you just move on on other goals
Re the running: I have no doubt that your heart and lungs can do a 50-mile run. I do not know your running history but it sounds like you are new to it and are mainly running treadmill. The trouble you will probably encounter and be totally unprepared for is the impact forces on your legs. That kind of run would be like someone pounding the bottoms of your feet with 100lbs of force which reverberates up your legs over and over for hours. I can be wrong. But be smart about this and be careful you do not bite off too much.

He'll probably use it as an extended dryland training and a break from the water as he's trying to transition into marathoning
