Tamarack Pro Angler 3 month review

  • I've had it for about 3 months now, I really enjoy getting out on the water with it. It's not fancy, but for a budget kayak, it really is exceptional.
    Lifetime really listened to their customers when they revamped the Angler and came out with the new & improved Pro Angler.
    I've been out fishing about a dozen times. I can load it and unload it by myself. It weighs about 60 pounds. It's great for solo activities. I love being able to troll while paddling with the use of the rod holder. Be sure to get some scupper plugs.
    I got my kayak roof racks from discountramps.com for $49.99 www.discountramps.com/roof-ra...
    and got some pool noodles from Walmart.

    Thanks for the review. I have the same kayak and I usually paddle on the inshore water. As you mentioned, I would recommend you to get a decent paddle. You can get a decent one at around $100 with a carbon fiber shaft. Ever since I switched to it, my paddling experience changed, like 180 degrees.

    Is a great vessel and not so overrated and overpriced like the "heart-" attacks and such. A lot of potential for improvements later on. Thanks for sharing 👍

    Watch using a cart through your scupper holes like that. You can crack the kayak. It works for Hobies because there scuppers are reinforced to be used with a cart like that.

    I have one as well as seat was the selling point if I was going to have a kayak I wanted to have one that was set up for fishing, I added a Plano V crate tackle box to mine and a cup holder on top of the storage lid.

    I’ve been out having a lot of fun in mine and really like it aside from what you mentioned about how it tracks and drifts around whenever I stop paddling. At 6’5” 220 lbs it’s fine with the foot rests all the way at the end of the track. To actually love the kayak I just need to figure out how to mount a cheap Amazon rudder as a simple adjustable skeg to resolve the tracking and drift issue like others have done on short fishing kayaks.

    The Tamarack Pro is not a budget or beginner kayak, it’s a perfect kayak thats not over priced nor too heavy to haul around.

    I like that tamarack pro. If you haven’t yet maybe look at a paddle upgrade. Dramatically increases paddling performance.

    I just purchased one of these kayaks. First one that I have owned. I'm impressed with the way it is setup from the factory. I'm wondering if the hull could be polished or treated with some type of wax or alternative to make it slippery in the water for better speed. Good idea or bad? What is your experience?

      That’s a great question! I have never looked into it. I’m sure there’s someone on UA-cam that’s tried it or has more information.

    Been looking at getting my first kayak so was doing a bit of research online, the lifetime tamarack pro gets lots of good reviews, unfortunately i can't find one for under $700+ , faster in a pfd , a paddle and a few other things that's $1000😫

    Where did you get that cart? Do you scotty or yakatt for devices on the rails?

    • @superioradventures
      @superioradventures  3 роки тому

      I made it after watching a few DIY kayak cart videos. It definitely needs some improvements but it does an ok job.
      I mainly just use the rod holder that came with it. I don’t really have a brand preference.

    How do you transport the kayak, I was thinking of getting this one, that I would transport in carrier on my Subaru's roof rack, and was wondering how hard it would be for one person to lift this up onto the carrier?

    • @superioradventures
      @superioradventures  3 роки тому

      I slide it up on the back of my car and have no difficulty getting it off the side of the car when transporting it.

    O have tue same yak. I like it but it drifts due to the shape. Also the seat drain holes alloes water on but do-able. Not to ahabby for 430$USD. I dig my future beach trophy deluxe 126.

  • @hummertim1
    @hummertim1 2 роки тому +1

    The paddle is to flexable so you work harder to gain speed. Their kayaks are great from my use. No need for 1000+ doller kayak unless its your job as a living. Yes i would like a peddle drive but dont want to spend $$$$$5 on one either. If lifetime made tamerack pro 103 with well made peddle drive and universal parts I would buy it if price was budget friendly.

    Even though it’s a fishing kayak do you think it makes a good kayak for a beginner who just wants to go out recreationally? Really great video. I’ve been wanting my first kayak for a while and I’ve heard a lot of good about this one!

    • @superioradventures
      @superioradventures  3 роки тому +1

      Sit on top kayaks seem a bit slower than a sit in kayak. While I do recommend my kayak, you might like a sit in kayak more because it seems to cut through the water better and track better.. just my opinion though.

    • @superioradventures

      I think it was 1”. My cart definitely needs some work. And it’s not recommended to put it through the scupper holes, just letting you know.

    Any reason you don't wear a flotation device?

    • @2gEclipsegarage

      I wear it about 50% of the time. Otherwise it is close to me so if it gets rough, I put it on. I’m usually on smaller lakes.

      @@tanhvan1 I made it out of PVC pipe. There’s lots of tutorials on how to build a kayak cart. I’ve been told to be carefully putting them through my scupper plugs. (So watch out for that if you make one)

      It’s just a horse fly. I had to watch that part a few times to figure it out. The shadow makes it look bigger that it is. I thought it was a big spider too while watching it after you mentioned it. Scared the crap out of me for a second. Luckily, there aren’t any black widows in my region.
