In bikepacking, we call those nice fellas “trail angels”. They’re the best kind of humans around. Stoked you found the issue! I had a similar problem on my old 81 CB 750, but mine was the actual in line filter the last owner put on! Haha. Little bastard got warm above the cylinders and kinked itself. After hours under an abandoned gas station awning on the Washington peninsula in the middle of the night, I was able to pull the tank, and yank that thing off after discovering it. A kind fella gave me some baling wire to noose the hell out of the over stretched fuel line on the carburetor. Ran like a champ after that. Always an adventure on the bikes! Ride safe!
I noticed when you first tried to restart after fueling up, you pulled the "choke" lever towards yourself. The KLR actually has an enricher, not a choke, so you are making a flooding situation even worse. When hot, try starting without enriching, though a choke would probably cause similar problems. Having the float needle gunked up is not good, and the filter should help a lot. What sort of gas milage have you been getting, and what are you getting now?
Great catch! The song I covered in the video (nothing burns like the cold) actually sampled part of “portishead” in their recording hence the similarity.
You have had a great adventure; it's been fun to follow along.
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
When I’m having an issue I’m gonna watch your video !!! You handle the diversity very well !!! Just keep going !!!!

If I had choke engaged while hot, definitely a bad move you are right my friend. Gas mileage improved significantly after this video. 35 to 48mpg
Music is like Portishead.
