My pro-tip for this: when you first get your rabbit (or when your rabbit is healthy), feed them a tiny amount of apple sauce through the syringe a few times a week. That way they get used to good things coming from syringes, meaning that when you *do* need to syringe-feed them meds or food or water, it's much less stressful for them. This video is a GREAT summary for post-op care! :D
Thank you so much! My bunny is getting neutered this week, after an accidental litter/: the babies are good, but it would always be safer if it wouldn't have happened. I would VERY strongly reccomend spay and neuter as I have also had a best friend who's bunny passed away from uterine cancer. Everyone who only one bunny and is considering not getting them fixed, you will want to save up. Trust me, if you live your bunny it will be so worth it.
aghamster101 I feel so sorry for your loss you will someday see him again at the rainbow bridge🐰 btw now I am really scared about spaying my bunny next week...
I got my bun neutered today We got home few hours ago He looks tired and didn't eat much But he drank a lot of water Hope he'll be back hoping around soon Thank you for this video❤
Thankfully, I didn't have to deal with this, when I adopted my Cola Bunny the MSPCA had already taken care of it for me. But that also brings up a something that can't be said enough: ADOPT. There are bunnies in shelters that deserve a second chance at having a good home. Help them if you can.
qawamity/Escef oh don't worry I rescued three bunnies around my apartments they were abandoned And i caught them all and returned two to a good pet store and I kept one he's a boy and is all black color and his name is meiko😜👌🏼
I am going to get a bunny soon and I have done constant reasearch but none of my shelters seem to have bunnies? I’m not sure if I should get my bunny from a breeder or what. Any suggestions?
I want to adopt but unfortunately the only adoption place around me has a rule that says you can't if you own snakes which I understand but I still think it's stupid.
I brought my bunny to the vet, they can't tell whether its a male/female yet so i have to wait until he/she reaches 8 months to get spayed. This video really helps me to be prepared. Thanks for the tips😘
sharmaine Hill why’d you put your- I’m not a creep or anything but someone could easily contact you and harass you, they could also somehow find it where you live so I would suggest deleting that comment, also why do you want him/her to text you?
hey Lennon the bunny. my name is Adriana and I am 12 years old. I got my marshmallow(my rescue bunny)on the first week of June in 2018. I did not even know how take care of a rabbit(I got him as a gift when I went over my dads house) I watched your channel and stormy rabbits all the time. you helped me take better care of my bunny. I even built him his own cage which was really big and he had plenty of exercise. on November 14th 2018 we were going to get him neutered and his bottom cleaned and his mats shaved. my mom got a call later that day. he died while he was under amnesia. he was in his carrying cage wrapped in a towel I pet him one last time and we dug a grave and laid him in it. I cried. I made him a grave stone and I lay flowers there every day, I still do. it hurts so much. I don't know what to do. I'm lost. I have never exepericed death before and it hit me so hard. I wsh somebody could take this pain from me. i miss you marshmallow. I love you with all of my heart and i always will.
Sweetheart, dont get so sad... I can understand your pain. I wish i could give you a hug right now, baby girl... Taking care of another being isnt easy but i am sure you did a very good job at it... Be happy that your baby bun had a fun time and a loving family while he was with you! Take care, darling! Much love, from india
It's time to get a new rabbit. The best resource for rabbit information is the book "Raising Rabbits the Modern Way" by Bob Bennett. It was first published in 1975 and has been updated several times. The book is more about raising rabbits as a business but the parts about caring for, feeding and housing rabbits is valuable for pet rabbits.
Thank you so much! I just adopted a Doe today and she was spayed two days ago. She took really well to my home immediately. And she also seems to not even mind her newly spay. She has been exploring. I appreciate this video so much. I just hope she heals well and fast and isn’t in any pain.
Aw I have a chocolate Dutch rabbit and I want to get her fixed soon, thank you for all the helpful tips, your videos have really helped me learn how to care for my bunny correctly
Thank you for this video, so informative. My Bella is nearly 2 now and ngl I’ve been putting off getting her spayed because I’m SO worried about her dying from the surgery or anaesthetic but I’ve booked her in for next week as I’m having another rabbit soon and I know this is the best for her to be able to bond in the future
I just brought my bunnies home from the vet. They both got spayed today and I plan on beginning bonding in about a month. Thank you for these videos. I stumbled onto this channel over a year ago, and I’ve been researching ever since. I adopted Momo and Tokii two months ago and they fill my life with so much love and purpose Thank you for everything you do! In a way, you saved my life too ❤️
My beautiful bun bun is getting spayed in a few hours. I am SO thankful this video exists and I will use your steps lorelie! I'm scared for her but cancer is a no no so this needs to be done. Thank you for all you do ❤🐇🥰
My baby girl just got spayed yesterday and we where able to bring her home today! Shes doing very well considering she just had surgery yesterday! Thank you for posting this! Its helped me alot!
Thanks for the video. :) I had my sweet Pearl neutered but it wasn´t that easy. It was a nightmare for her. I´ve been told to keep her safe - in her cage and as sterile as possible. So no hay on the ground, not anything that could get stick to her stitches, that meant also as little dust as possible. She also got some whole body after-surgery sweater to avoid reaching the stitches with her teeth. She was extremely stressed because of that, refused to eat - and she had a lot of digestive difficulties due to the hunger and antibiotics. She also must have had that sweater for at least 10 days. I spent first 3 days driving her to the clinic because of her behavior and problems - although her cut was healing just fine. I spent 2 weeks just taking care of her, comforting her, singing to her... and doing everything to help her feel better. I think she was very lucky I didn´t have to go to work that time. She spent all 10 days trying to get rid of that sweater. Poor bunny. She´s ok now and happy again, but it was traumatic experience and I felt really sorry for her.
This video is very helpful. My bunny is going in in two weeks to get his surgery and I am using several tips from this video. I am getting him used to the lower front litter box now. Thanks
A fun thing to do with your bun: ( I did this and she loved it! ) Take them to the pet shop, put there harness on, and let them run on the leash! They love to explore the isles and even go bye there own toys! Just make sure if a dog comes bye you pick your bun up and go to a different area of the store 😊
Thank u for this video my bun wasn't acting herself at all and was really worried and started hand feeding her and giving water thru syringe and now doing a lot better little more energetic hoping that she will get better with each day .
Update on my rabbit after requesting this video; I have two rabbits who I believed to be female but turns out the shop owners told us the wrong sex of one of them (he's a dwarf flop and the female is a giant Flemish) but yesterday we had a little surprise when myself and my partner found a large litter of 12! But thank you for this video!❤️
I was told Lennon was the wrong sex as well when I got her. Never trust a shop owner or breeder. Thanks for sharing your story and thats why it's so important to get your bunnies fixed!
I’m a little nervous now, because my rabbit was from a pet store (please don’t attack me) and they said he was a boy… I’ll be taking him to the vet soon, so we’ll know for sure.
I just dropped off my bunny Harry Potter for his neuter surgery. I may have already commented but this is a super video on preparing to care for your bunny post surgery. I am just getting his post op care site ready and am reviewing the tips here. Forgot to get a list of emergency vet places that take rabbits. One extra tip u could add is that if u are getting your rabbit fixed this is the perfect time to also get him chipped. Keep up the great care videos. I love the hack videos and my favorite is the one on conversations.
I'm getting my bunny spayed tomorrow! I've been putting it off for months now because of Covid but i finally made the appointment. A hefty $600 for my area but i feel like it's gonna be worth it. I'll keep everyone updated!
@@dayaoof8907 She's doing well. It's almost been two weeks since the spay. She's binkying and flopping and we're letting her run around again, she's basically back to normal. She also seems alot happier.
Thanks so much for this Loralei! I just adopted a bunny today and she had a spay yesterday. Unfortunately the shelter only gave her 1 days worth of pain meds (their protocol) so I hope she will be ok. I've been hand feeding her too.
My bunny isn't getting spayed until early next year, but she broke her right hind leg yesterday and had to have surgery today to fix it. This video helped a lot as I've never had a rabbit have an operation other than my Male getting neutered a few years back which went with zero complications at all so I am a little nervous to make sure she is okay after, this helped so much, your videos have helped so much and even partly convinced my parents to consider my rabbits living inside full time (the bunny is inside because of her injury right now)
I have to neuter my bunny, Beatrice soon.. I'm a little nervous but your videos are always a great help. Lennon is utterly adorable. Please keep up the videos!
Your bunny will tired, confused or in pain. Set everything comfy, enclosed and low as possible for him. Enclose the area, make it much smaller than you normally would, so they can't open their incision through exercise or movement. Don't forget to have food and water by him as well. Your rabbit isn't going to act like themselves for a day or two. The'll be groggy and lethargic. Comfort them as much as possible, but also be prepared to give them some time alone. Administer their medication as prescribed by the vet. This will usually be done by a syringe and it will normally taste decent enough for them to accept it. If your rabbit isn't voluntarily drinking water as well you can use the syringe to feed them water. Now making bunny eat is crucial. They won't have much of an appetite at first. You're going to have to hand feed them. Nibbling on a little bit here and there will suffice. The point is to keep their GI (Gastrointestinal) tract going. If your bunny has not eaten at all after 12 hours at all, call your veterinarian immediately. Monitor their incision, which will be located at the bottom of their belly near their genitals. Make sure they aren't chewing at their wound undoing the stitches. Check their stools every few hours at first. If you notice abnormal stools call your vet immediately. Also keep a doctors list of your near area. Healing can take anywhere from just a few days, to two weeks. After the first 48 hours you should notice your bunny feeling back to normal.
Thanks so much for the informative video! Taking my bun-buns in on Monday to have them spayed and feeling sliiiightly nervous (ok, very nervous), so trying to prepare as best I can pre- and post-op.
I have to go Friday to get my bun neutered I’m sooo nervous. I can’t stop thinking and reading about it. He’s very calm and a good bunny but it’s just scary. How did yours go?
@@MikaylasAnimalChannel It is scary. If it helps, it is very safe these days, similar to the risks you'd expect with a cat being spayed. If your bunny is male, it should be very straightforward. If it's female, read on... My bunnies (both girls) were both fine, thankfully! They were kept in hospital overnight for supervision (go for it, if they give you the option). Once home, I had to ensure that they ate well and pooped well (tmi, but it's important for rabbits!). I had to keep an eye on them so they wouldn't try to pull on their stitches (one did, mildly, but no harm done). Painkillers are vital. The vet should give them to you and show you how to administer them. They should also give you GI motility medicine, to ensure their gut works well. I'd suggest that you keep them in a place where they can move around lots (that's a good thing) but without having any furniture to jump on. That can break their stitches. One thing I didn't know is that they can develop bumps/bulges at the surgery site, as a reaction to the stitches or if they get too jumpy too soon. It's normal and it should go away in 2-3 weeks (my bunnies are totally back to normal now), but it's worth keeping an eye on it and checking with the vet regularly during the first week, just to ensure that everything is alright. I hope that helps and good luck to you and your bunny! Edit: Sorry for the belated reply, YT only just now showed me the notification! 🤦
Awww thanks for the video. I’m nervous to get my rabbit fixed because I don’t want him/her to be in pain. She’s my little baby for now. I think she’s only 5 weeks old.
Super helpful 👍 I'm hoping to get Lily spayed soon and my grades are pretty good atm and when they are good enough my dad said that he will pay for the spay
today's day 2 post spaying for my bunny! yesterday she was less active and ate less, but today's she back to her usual active self and escaped from the playpen for her confinement! she happily hopped around the house and so now i have her caged to prevent any tearing of her wound
thank you so much! we just got my bunny spayed today and this really helped me take better care of her and know what to expect! ps: i love your videos! ~ elena ~
I love your bunny videos. My baby Bruce just got spayed. (How we found out Bruce was a girly) and it's breaking my heart keeping her locked up. It's only day 2. She hasn't been drinking much water at all! But she's acting more herself.
This really helped! I am thinking about doing this soon! I just need to save the money ( I am only 11) thanks for making me feel better about doing it ( I am a little nervous) 👍🏼
I’m getting my rabbit neutered soon, but I’m also taking this as the time to try and get him an exercise pen to get him out of the cage- hopefully permanently
Wow! I just got the shock of bunnihood! So, I got a bunny some time ago and was told it was a boy. Named him Butternut. A few days later, took him to the vet and was told I had a girl. Buttercup it is. All this time passed and today Buttercup went to vet to be spayed. Shock! I got the call to pick Buttercup up and his neutering went well. Say what?! I asked if they were sure and the doctor who did the job said definitely a boy. I laughed and cried. I'm glad to have my boy! Let's just go with Butterguppy!
You are my favorite rabbit UA-camr. I’ve had rabbits for about 9 years and I just love your videos. There’s a youtuber by the name of Happy Tails that thinks spay and neutering rabbits has more cons than pros and she made a video about it. I’m scared it’s going to deter people from getting the surgery for their rabbit.
I never separated my free living bunny ladies after spaying and I had the feeling they enjoyed the care of the others. And I made the experience, that they wanted to eat dry herbs first. I decided inhalation anasthesia which was the best for a fast recovery, don't know, if this is available in the US too ... 🤔
Lol, I assisted in our bunnys nueter, we have a farm vet. She is a no nonsense type lady 78 years old. She really knows her stuff. She also did my daughters bunny. Both bunnys bounced back in about 4 hours, we still kept them quit over night and all the next day, by the following day, they were pretty much back to normal. No running or jumping allowed!
I got my rabbit neutered earlier today and so far he is just very tired and sleeps alot but he ate some cucumber but Id just like to say thank you for this video its been soooooo helpful!!!!
Your rabbit is so beautiful! I'm taking my rabbit, piglet, to go get him neutered when I go back to Idaho. The reason is because I want him to have a female friend. And I'm going to get her neutered too.
My rabbit Lennon just got neutered and it is life changing! I no longer have to hide mirrors from him 😂 (he would spray piss at them) I also named my rabbit after Lorelai’s since he has the same birthmarks and looks pretty similar to the original princess Lennon ❤️

sophiabunny as long as she is bigger then 3 pounds and you trust the vet then she has a high chance. Just pray for the best I'll pray for you💛
thank you.
Your cactus is slanting, perhaps turning it so the other side can get more light? (Sorry I’m late, I really care about plants XD)

herbologist is a person studying plants

That happened with our cat 'her' name was flower to!
From Shasta With Love that happened with our dog they said she was an 8 week old boy . She was a 13 week old girl

My bunny Ollie just got out of her surgery from being Spayed. I am just recapping my memory on aftercare and this is so useful
I’m currently going through this with my brand new rescue bunny Harley. Great video, thank you!
My rabbit got spayed 2 days ago. These tips were very helpful! Thank you so much♥️
Thanks so much for this! I’m a nervous wreck about my baby being spayed.
omg this is so pure
I have to neuter my bunny, Beatrice soon.. I'm a little nervous but your videos are always a great help. Lennon is utterly adorable. Please keep up the videos!
Thank you!
Beatrice? Neutered?
Lol
Thanks i'm getting my two bunnies fixed soon:) Lennon is SO CUTE!!!
After the first 48 hours you should notice your bunny feeling back to normal.
wow, that was alot of work on your part!
You should know you can turn on captions 😂
I just got my rabbit spayed today! She’s home rn just chillin and btw this video helped a lot! :)
Hey you just earned a new subscriber Lennon!
I have two rabbits and I think this channel might help me a lot.
Thanks Lennon
Lennon is the happiest rabbit in earth
Awww thanks for the video. I’m nervous to get my rabbit fixed because I don’t want him/her to be in pain. She’s my little baby for now. I think she’s only 5 weeks old.
Super helpful 👍 I'm hoping to get Lily spayed soon and my grades are pretty good atm and when they are good enough my dad said that he will pay for the spay
How beautiful bunny!!😍
Actually, the chance of getting cancer is 75 percent which is more of a reason to get your bun fixed
Actually, it’s 80% after 4 years
Just got my bunny neutered and honestly I’m just babying him . The medicine part is what’s stressing out
Lennon est vraiment une très belle lapine 🐇💕. Merci à vous pour ces très bons et très avisés conseils 👍😃💗. Bon dimanche.
today's day 2 post spaying for my bunny! yesterday she was less active and ate less, but today's she back to her usual active self and escaped from the playpen for her confinement! she happily hopped around the house and so now i have her caged to prevent any tearing of her wound
Your voice is so soothing 😍😍
thank you so much! we just got my bunny spayed today and this really helped me take better care of her and know what to expect!
ps: i love your videos!
~ elena ~
aww so cute
Lennon is sooooo adorable! ;)
I love your videos so much! They are so helpful!!
Pepperann that's lol!!!! 😂🐰
sophiabunny I know right? Lol
maybe I should be a professional rabbit sexer- I can tell what gender they are
My bunny spay surgery is tomorrow. Thanks for this video ♥️
your videos make me want to get a bunny like lennon, so cute!
Thanks for sharing these tips. I’m getting my bunny spayed tomorrow and I’m worried sick.
Thank you so much for this!!! I am going to get my 2 female rabbits spayed and this helped a lot!
Love the stuffed animal idea!
tip: to comfort them type in youtube rabbit music and try some, it really works!
Aww super cute!
I'm so nervous my bun is in now. Please don't hate me for this baby girl :(
Yes thank you so much for making this video! I'd hoped you'd make it🤗
0:34 And nurturing prevents fighting and reduces bad behaviour
My little bunny has an appointment soon for spay... please pray for her I am very worried everyone :(
I never separated my free living bunny ladies after spaying and I had the feeling they enjoyed the care of the others.
And I made the experience, that they wanted to eat dry herbs first.
I decided inhalation anasthesia which was the best for a fast recovery, don't know, if this is available in the US too ... 🤔
For real! Please get your buns fixed. I wish I did with my first one… she passed away from ovarian cancer, suddenly, and I still feel guilt
Amazing video!!! My rabbit is getting fixed in November! Just making sure I’m doing everything right
Lol, I assisted in our bunnys nueter, we have a farm vet.
Not going to lie! This video is scaring me! My bunny is being sprayed tomorrow!!
Thank you for this video I’m getting my male done next week, so good to know some advice. It’s my first ever bunny getting neutered
Your rabbit is so beautiful! I'm taking my rabbit, piglet, to go get him neutered when I go back to Idaho. The reason is because I want him to have a female friend. And I'm going to get her neutered too.
Me: Can't wait to watch! Just got my rabbit spayed!
Video: *ASMR*
My rabbit Lennon just got neutered and it is life changing! I no longer have to hide mirrors from him 😂 (he would spray piss at them) I also named my rabbit after Lorelai’s since he has the same birthmarks and looks pretty similar to the original princess Lennon ❤️
