@@pus1546 anytime would have struggled against iceland in that situation, almost all players on the pitch where in there half for the majority of the game. If you think its easy to score with roughtly 16ish players in the opposition half you are delusional. There are many obstacles in the way and you are forced to use your whits.

@@DualRule if kane wants to win a trophy he shouldn't worry about being the main guy, he can observe from the bench, come in and make a difference if need be, reducing bellingham to just stay in the midfield is daft, most managers would squeeze everything they can out of him, he might not be the highest goal scorer like kane but he will score important goals that will win you a trophy
@@Bright259 Couldn't agree more. Kane is far too predictable, teams will mark him out of the game. Playing Bellingham as a false 9 is a great idea, he's proven he can score and assist, and with Foden and Saka both capable of contributing to goals it will make it much harder for teams to break down the attack. Kane is also far too slow for counter-attacking play. Southgate will never win any major trophy by picking the same squad for 6 years
English media has a "black players only" policy on their cover pages whenever the team loses a match. I loved it when their crown Prince Harry Kane sent that penalty sky-high against France in 2022.
This is an urban legend at this point. I'm a black person living in the UK, and while your claim may have been true decades ago, it's not the case now with the mainstream media. Indeed, when England lost to Italy on penalties at the last Euros, most of the abuse against black players came via social media from people living in other parts of the world, particularly in Arab countries.
Then over reaction from the iceland game is pathetic its a friendly right before the euros you could tell they were worried about getting injured and didnt go 100 per cent hence the lack of pressing they did and look at the way iceland celebrated there goal it was a cup final for them

As soon as I seen grealish Braithwaite rashford even maddison out and dunk gomez and ivan toney in I knew immediately it will be the same old story , quatre finals semis at best , stones and Braithwaite as a pairing would have been so much stronger and to not take grealish is madness , rashford has much more experience than toney and is a better all round player , honestly I had big hopes for this one but after that squad announcement it will be another case of the nearly men again , he's got to go after this one Southgate
try stay positive, at the end of the day it's just a friendly, but i also question the squad choices, i just think especially on the wings, we have the same profile, rashford offers energy and pace off the bench and can make a difference as a real threat, and grealish can run at players and cut in, plamer and gordon are good but i don't think they offer the same quality off the bench, i wouldve just dropped on of the strikers and taken rashford cuz he can play wing and st if rlly needed

I think the real problem for England is Southgate, flip-flopping between players depending on club form.
If he can't identify quality, and the type of player he wants, then he's no better than a kid playing football manager (no offence intended to any of these kids!).
He should have an ideal 11 starting players, based on the qualities he wants, and the style he wants to play, regardless of club form.
SHOULD we win the Euros it'd be a big statement to prove those doubters wrong if Southgate picked the "wrong side" had Maguire was there probably we'd have a chance to get at least the semis

Mainoo Palmer Eze Gordon are all excellent players. But they did not get us through the Qualifiers and do not have International experience. Hope it all goes ok.
Mainoo literally debuted in Anfield against Liverpool for United and was the calmest player on the pitch by far. International experience or not, doesn't matter, that kid can play in any atmosphere.
but you also dont get experience if you dont play. england still has roughly half its squad that have experience and those who are inexperienced have at some point played in a high stakes game at club level. Mainoo being perfect example being 18 and scoring a goal in FA Cup final for united.
You need that level of maturity in young players. Kobbie's off to a fantastic start. Looking forward to seeing what he does next season.

Look at all the other big teams in Europe ,they are all prepared settled and ready to go .England have the players but no manager capable of competing at this level .Southgate would struggle to get a place in the championship .that's not being nasty it's a fact .No one in the EPL would take him apart from maybe manunited because they have no desire to win the league or not will they get relegated .mid table teams can afford these type of company men with little football managerial skills .

And him and Rice would make a great pairing,with Bellingham in front. If we have aspirations of doing anything in this tournament,then we have to put the right players in the right positions. Simple

I think england is getting too much stick for the loss against iceland. There are alot of factors contributing to that loss.
1. its the last game before the tournament, players are weary about picking up injuries.
2. Iceland as a low ranking country dont have strength or players to save, they know they wont win the euros so didnt go into the friendly with safety in mind, its match day like usual for them.
3. Iceland played that game like it meant the world to them, they gave more effort into a friendly then we did, at the end of the day its a warm up game before the tournament.
4. Iceland played very smart once they scored their shock goal, every player went into defensive mode which made it brutal for england to get through 11 players, this meant even pot shots where difficult with 22 legs, 11 heads and chests in the way no counting our own players.
Overall i think any country would have struggled to get through iceland the other night, when every man is marked and the opposition half is so densly packed with bodies its always going to be difficult to find that right moment for a shot. The only way to break it is to get crosses in from the widths, for a few moments trent showed that abit more forward thinking could break down this kind of defence and its a great learning curv for the lads ahead of the euros.
Its a dissapointing result, but hopefully england is better off from it.
Other than scoring against City in the FA cup final what has he actually done to deserve such praise and a spot in the euros squad.
