Poor Miss Brill. I must have played this ten times in bed on my tablet (focusing on a voice helps me get to sleep). What a shame Katherine Mansfield died so young, and we were denied more of her vivid imagery. This, referring to the conductor of the band, is as good as a film clip. He scraped with his foot and flapped his arms like a rooster about to crow, and the bandsmen sitting in the green rotunda blew out their cheeks and glared at the music. But that's only part of the picture, because the piece is made whole with perfect narration. Harrie Dobby reads naturally with excellent use of tone, and her soft-spoken voice is as soothing as a massage. Mind, even when I'm half asleep, I still smile when we get to Tum-tum-tum tiddle-um! tiddle-um! tum tiddley-um tum ta! It's perfect. So, bravo to author and narrator for producing a delightful video, albeit a sad one. Thank you.
