    Lots of people especially younger people do not drink alcohol as much as my generation so these 0% beers are wonderful for them! I like them too! Much better than a can of sugar soda!

      Couldn't agree more - some 0% stuff out there unfortunately does have a few additives in I'd rather they didn't - but it's great that it's an option. I'd like to see a return to some very naturally low ABV beers - say 2% table beer, where the alcohol content serves almost entirely as a cleanser to the drink but not enough to put off those who don't like to "drink" in the conventional sense.

    Love this.i was a functional heavy drinker for years & was gradually turning into a rather non functional one 😂 8 months sober with no regrets of giving up but did miss the taste of Guinness so finding this was a revelation

    Prefer real ale but a lot of pubs can't get it right. So Guinness is my go to if no decent ale. Had my first zero Guinness last night. Tastes much like Guinness in a can to me. So will definitely buy it in future.

    I liked alcoholic Guinness but it didn't like me. One pint was sufficient to give me significant digestive discomfort. I'm now nine months sober and Guinness 0 is my favourite NA beer generally available in pubs locally AND I can drink as much as I please without digestive issues - a win-win in my book. Regarding those who doubt whether there's a market for NA beers, the pubs here in South East Wales stock it and often sell out towards the end of the evening.

      That's great to here! Glad you're enjoying your 0% experience - the Guinness is certainly the one I hear the most about from a truly replacing the experience perspective. Cheers!

    I had to try this as I love Guinness, and I have to admit it really surprised me. I honestly don't think I could tell the difference between the regular and the 0%. It's very good.

    Guiness 0 is also my favorite NA beer. Sadly I can’t find it in London pubs, they have some lame NA options, but there are a few shops selling it. About the ingredients, as far as I understood, NA beers are seen as something similar to food, so they are required to better write down all the ingredients they use, the alcohol ones are not required that much, so they could miss out some extra ingredients.

    Great video. I think they make noon alcoholic beer like regular beer and then they remove the alcohol. Where there's a market, there's a way.

      @TheCrumbyBeard  6 місяців тому

      Thank you! Yes that is certainly one way they can do it, another is using specialist yeast strains which produce very little alcohol but still consume the sugars, though in the case of Guinness I suspect it is as you say. Cheers!

    you know i should give it a try. regular guiness is still a decent beer to have so if that 0.0 version still manages to pull it off, it must be quite a good NA beer.
    I remember when NA beers tasted awful on average, now it looks like they got the hang of it.

      NA beers certainly aren't perfect yet, but this one is certainly one of the better emulators - at least when it comes to easily available stuff. Cheers!

    Best 0% I've had so far, in terms of closeness to the original. I'd like to know why that is. I.e. the difference between stout and lager in achieving this

    • @TheCrumbyBeard
      @TheCrumbyBeard  6 місяців тому

      Interesting question! So there are some lager AF's which I think get pretty close from specialists such as Mash Gang, but also more available options like Lucky Saint also aren't bad, but still do lack a bit of something. I think the difference with Guinness is that primarily, the deeper flavours provided by the dark malts used to make stout can help fill in the gaps in what paler AF beers seem to fall short. The other aspect is the texture and mouthfeel; half the pleasure of a Guinness comes from the physical sensation and not just the taste, so by accurately mimicking that, they've already got half the job done. Cheers!

    Yes, of all the zero zero Guinness have got it right, a little high in carbs and a bit of sugar. I say this as I love it and it’s what I have at restaurants when I’m driving. I am diabetic, but it’s my go to zero zero. My comment is there are more and more zero zero biers and wines. I disagree on the taste quality it’s closer to Dublin Guinness then uk Guinness on the pump. Thumbs up

    Great and fair review. I really love the Guinness zero, I had to stop drinking alcohol due to an allergy that began two years ago, I can't even have brandy butter or anything containing alcohol. As little 10ml of wine or a mouthful of real beer is enough to cause me difficulty breathing, stomach cramps or even collapse. This Guinness zero is an absolute life saver for me when I go out, it's on draught here in Ireland which is great and my doc said I can drink it without worrying.

    • @TheCrumbyBeard
      @TheCrumbyBeard  Рік тому +1

      Thank you! And this is why high-quality alco-free beers are absolutely important to exist! I'm glad you're able to still enjoy 90%+ of the Guinness experience without any ill-consequences! I don't think I've seen it on draught here yet, but I'm sure it won't be long!

    4:38 I don't think there is EVER a "good" alcohol free beer. I have been around the beer scene for over 30 years now, alcohol free beer just NEVER sells. Most bars don't even sell them. I just don't see who is the market for this.

    • @TheCrumbyBeard
      @TheCrumbyBeard  Рік тому +3

      That's interesting Joey - they're quite popular in the UK right now, how long it'll last I don't know, but certainly interesting. I'd rather see some low abv 2% table beers instead, but I guess that doesn't help the advertising loopholes a lot of these businesses are trying to fill with the Zero Alc stuff.

    • @MrSwanny66

      It's flying off the shelves and out of the pubs here, the drink driving laws and a change in the drinking culture is making non alcohol beers attractive to a lot of the younger drinkers. There's not as much weekday or all day drinking and binge drinking has definitely fallen off, it seems to be a dying trend in Ireland.

    • @flowerpie

      I love it 😍 as someone who now abstains from alcohol, but loves a Guinness, this is an absolute godsend. There's definitely a market for non alcoholic beet.

      The popularity has grown and shelves are becoming more full with better options. My top 3 is 1. Corona NA 2. Guiness NA 3. Authentic (if you want an IPA flavor).
      These 3 are these closest to their originals. They are becoming very popular with people in early 30s to early 20s.
      I came from drinking 1/5 whiskey a night to NAs on daily with an occasional real drink. Been helping me and my body is loving me more.

      Cheers, much appreciated. So if you want something more modern craft-focused then look up Mash Gang - they're doing some absolutely incredible stuff in the 0% space. For more mainstream offerings the best I've had so far aside from Guinness 0.0 are; Leffe Blonde 0%, Lucky Saint and Beavertown Lazer Crush - I'm not a big Beavertown fan in general so that last one really surprised me, I have reviewed that one before. Hope that helps!
