Why you should never watch horror movies

  • In this short video, Swami Nithyananda explains how the scenes we watch become part of our system, just like the scenes we live through ourselves. When we watch thriller or horror movies, it is like eating that, swallowing it, and it gets digested into our system. It is like voluntarily adding patterns to the patterns already there, asking for more karma, adding to the wrong bank account.
Swami Nithyananda sincerely requests people not to watch these kind of video's, which create patterns in us which can sit there for years and years, create suffering in us and strengthen our patterns of impossibility. Especially spiritual seekers - they are the future of our planet, they should be protected and their consciousness should be held and nourished, not wasted.
On a subtle level, whenever we enter a stressful situation, those terrorising scenes will sit in our inner space and influence what we see as possibilities. The scenes we have already watched, require completion, just like the scenes we lived through in person.

I stopped watching the news because of all the scenes. I realized that I didn't want to start my day with all the tragic scenes. In the same way before bed. The news would repeat over and over. This is not good for my happiness.

When we are already trying to get rid of patterns troubling us....it is wise not to add the patterns through watching such movies. Swamiji explains this so beautifully.

Yesterday happened to watch Narak Ka dwaar(door of hell) documentary kind of movie(based on saint Mahaveera) for the sake of understanding 7 layers of Narakas and the levels of tortures people go through there. Generally the Truth shown seemed so torturing easy enough to scare you from doing further any sorts of Sins.
Here Swamiji preparing us to create clean inner space in every possible ways so that we choose to live living enlightenment while living and to live in heavenly Lokas like Akshardhama after leaving the body. Thank you Bhagwan.

The last horror movie I watched was 3 years ago and I could not sleep for a whole week I would wake up in the middle of the night feeling as though my being was being traumatized by the affects of what I had watched. After attending my first Inner Awakening I stopped watching any horror movies or movies that would impose the wrong cognitions into my system. Thank you Swamiji for this video !

Seeing this video, I remember that in my childhood days I watch a lot of movies, me and my brother were the usual customer to a video rental shop near by, per holiday atleast 2 movies.. whenever I feel job issues, I unconsciously the Kamalhassan movie 'Varumai neeram sivapu' pops in my head. completing that is also a long process.. our listening is a power so we should consciously listen the things that is aligning to our reality only..

Yes, Swamiji, I can really feel the effect of horror movies on my being. I don't think I had seen a horror movie before high school, many moons ago since I am almost 73, but the one I saw then constantly occupied my thoughts, creating anxiety and fear for weeks. I have watched only a few horror movies in my life and they always create the same effect. About 25 years ago I had to tell someone I would not watch a certain program anymore because of the effect it was having on me.
This video has come at a good time for me to help me be even more aware of what I am doing to my system when I allow those kinds of vibrations to enter into me - regardless of whether it is a horror movie or something similar - actually, media in general. I need to be ever more steadfast in getting rid of the garbage (SDHD) and increasingly vigilant to not allow more garbage in. Thank You, Swamiji, for clarifying this even more for me.

Indeed , terror and horror movies just syncs in you when you watch or listen to it. The unconscious space of intent and keen listening makes any information to just seep into you with great ease. It is indeed extremely difficult and long enough to even realise that these memories and feelings caused by such incomplete scenes can cause such turbulence in the inner space. In gratitude Swamiji, for giving an understanding of what should not be entertained into our inner space .

thanks guru, not only the movies even some people can do the same to our life. They are horror than horror movies, they can be our nightmares throughout our life. They can exploit our will power. Wounds that these persons makes to our minds will never be gone, even though they die. It will follow us as a evil spirit.

these days I don't watch television and movies at all. it's typical how much more sensitive the system becomes, when it isn't continuously overloaded by the sensationalist TV scenes. just like when you stop eating meat, fish, egg, mushroom, onion, garlic - the taste becomes so fine, so subtle, the full taste of food can be enjoyed so much more. same way when the strong, overwhelming images aren't there so much, the simple things of life, the simple images and sceneries, become so enjoyable and fulfilling!

When I was little, I walked in on the movie Jaws. All I remember is a great white shark biting into a man's torso and blood spurting out his
mouth. I was totally traumatized by that scene.I used to sleep with night lights. I RAN up the stairs because I was scared of some creature grabbing my ankles. The thought of aliens scared
the shit out of me. I stayed away from the drains in pools because I saw some nasty monster come out of one in a Goosebumps episode. It feels good to detox from mainstream culture's obsession with violence as entertainment :)

It is really true! At some point, after doing some months of completion and moving into more and more subtle layers - I just stormed upon this huuuuuuge bunch of incompletions coming directly from movies I watched! Hundreds of video's passed the review and I was just flabbergasted at the amount of detail with which I was remembering, reliving them! The exact images, colours, words, how I felt while watching, whom I was with, the whole context also... Very happy completion can erase the patterns coming from those scenes - but much better not to build the incompletions in the first place...

In fact I probably watched more horror movies than anybody else, as it was my work to write in specialized horror movies magazines. Other thing is, that if you want someone to think along with you in the completion process, it would be great to get connected to your local sangha - means devotees/followers/disciples of Swamiji in your own neighborhood. I tell you, they are everywhere ;). If you want, find me in FB, and I'll help get you connected! Find me as Amritashraya Nithya Ananda. Blessings!

This 'Swami' seems to be confused about a number of issues. Not the least (but maybe the greatest) is the difference between a viral video and a totally fake Hollywood movie.
Swami Nithyananda's faith worships 1'000s of gods some of which are 10x more horrific and nightmarish than any silly horror movie.
