Never before have the electors shown clearly their desire that there should be in this country a Labour Government carrying out Labour's full policy.
I am certain that this election has been one in which the electors have thought deeply on the fundamental question of the future, and they realise that Labour is the Party of the future, and that Labour's policy is the only policy that can lead us to peace abroad and social justice at home. The Labour Party's great victory shows that the country is ready for a new policy to face new world conditions. That it believes that Labour has the right policy, and also has the men to carry it out".

Attlee deserves far more commemoration for his service. He is by far the greatest PM this nation has ever had, he genuinely in his heart cared for the working class and his government achieved so much in such little time.

atlee was a great choice, the poor needed houses and jobs and food, churchill had never gone without in life and did not understand the struggle of the people were facing, he wanted a war with russia which the people did not want cause they would be the ones dying in the snow, he failed to get re elected in 1950 and in 1951 he lost the popular vote but got a slim majority of seats, this was due to the post war years being hard and the korean war had broke out so atlee had a hard job to do by any standards. he was a champion of the poor and now the british would not be with out free healthcare, social programs and social housing. clemont atlee was a champion of the poor unlike churchill who would have not given the poor what they rightly deserved after the war cause there would have been a civil war in britain if the troops were not given the social programs they had fought for. labour wanted to make the country a better place for the fellow man after all that needless bloodshed.the only good thing about britain being in ww2 was the poor getting what they rightly were entitled to, unlike past wars when injured soldiers came back poor and homeless. the poor got a bad deal during britains days during the empire.

Yes,....a change to economic decay and decline.
By 1979, the 34 year experiment in socialism had been a costly and miserable failure.

A costly disaster which put the UK in the slow lane economically. By 1950, the money had run out.
But receiving only half the Marshall Aid by comparison, Germany embarked on an ''economic miracle''
by embracing free market capitalism. Germany brilliantly powered ahead.
State control UK began a slow decline from 1945 culminating in the ''Winter of Discontent'' of 1979
when Labour and anarchy, tyranny unions spectacularly imploded and brought the country to it's knees
in a state of economic failure and bankruptcy..
