    VK you are right about that my northern bro :) I had burbot last night boiled with a little salt and butter and don't forget to throw in the liver and eggs they are very good.
    I hope to visit Helsinki perhaps this spring when they have the big fur sales there.

    Some of the northern habits seem to be similar everywhere :) I can hardly wait until the ice is thick enough also here in southern Finland. I'm planning to eat Burbot soup soon :)

    Y2J: The Itollah of Rock & Rolla ! Kinda weird watching you fish under the ice with a bunch of Aussie Fottballers singing to you! Made me wish to set a net I may go find a fish lake somewhere. Haven't set a net under the ice in years. Great video, I hope your bed has stopped burning.

      +yukonjeffimagery Damn. I've definitely never caught a Whitefish that big down here in Washington. Is that normal size or you get 'em bigger?

    • @yukonjeffimagery
      @yukonjeffimagery  8 років тому

      +Nl K They do get much bigger here on the Yukon River some are river monster size,,lol I only catch the ones that fit in a 5 .5 inch size mesh size of my net, some guys set 7-8 inch mesh size for the much bigger ones.

      How do you prepare them?

    • @yukonjeffimagery
      @yukonjeffimagery  8 років тому +1

      +Nl K We eat them baked ,fried and boiled, folks here make Eskimo ice cream using Whitefish its real good(,googel it.) Here is another video setting a net catching Burbot, ua-cam.com/video/1Q7ltOY-EqM/v-deo.html

      @@yukonjeffimagery How big are the whitefishes you caught on average? 2-3 lbs? How about sheefish and burbot?

    Ha Ha ! Mr M.Rat :)
    yes I like a little hard core music when I am fishing or hunting, I have my own electric guitar and you can hear it on my moose hunting video (not that great lol)
    I do like good music Aussi or otherwise, why is it you haven't set a net in years? do they set them there? its real common here every household pretty much has one set all winter I have been getting some nice big fat Burbot the past few days they are awesome eating.

    • @muskrat411

      Just never get around to it there is 5 or 6 nets set in the Peel River in front of my house. I should do a burbot fishing video one of these days. We jiggle for them at the creek mouths but they bite when it is dark so hard to video unless I use a flood light.
      You use music really well in your videos. Do you have to get permission from Men at Work or can you just down load there song and use it? I am a little scared to use music. Thats why you hear "Too quak to walk" so much in my videos. My buddy Doug said I can use it.

  • @HaNsWiDjAjA
    @HaNsWiDjAjA Рік тому

    Nice video! Do you move the net around or is it pretty much set all winter long and you just check it regularly? Does the fish get depleted?

    • @yukonjeffimagery
      @yukonjeffimagery  Рік тому +1

      Its kept in the same spot, but I have two nets out. Some guys move their nets around before the ice is too thick. And no, the fish are very plentiful and very low harvest compared to their population.I

    • @HaNsWiDjAjA
      @HaNsWiDjAjA Рік тому

      @@yukonjeffimagery I see. Is the catch rate in winter any less than in summer? How do you pick the spots to set these nets?

    • @yukonjeffimagery
      @yukonjeffimagery  Рік тому +1

      @@HaNsWiDjAjA Yes the fall time is best it slows down after and then around February the catch goes way up until I am catching more than I can give away then I take my net out. We have preferred places we set. My net is right in front of the house so easy to check.

    • @HaNsWiDjAjA
      @HaNsWiDjAjA Рік тому

      @@yukonjeffimagery Thanks for the info. Do you mean that fall and spring is best for burbot, whitefish and sheefish altogether, or do each of them have specific times of abundance?

    • @yukonjeffimagery
      @yukonjeffimagery  Рік тому +1

      @@HaNsWiDjAjA Yes, Whitefish and Bering Sea Cisco in the fall, Burbot all winter, and sheefish in the late winter, and early spring and then salmon in the spring and summer.
