My soul is down in me So I remember You To the heights of Hermon from The land of Jordan through Deep calls to deep in The roar of Your waterfalls All of Your waves are over me By day the Lord directs His love to me All through the night His song is with me With me A prayer to the God of my life I say to God "Oh why, have You forgotten me?" Why must I mourn, oh Lord Oppressed by my enemies My bones are crushed, Lord My foes taunt me They say to me, "Where is God?" Why are you so downcast Oh, my soul? Why so disturbed now Within me? Hope in your God For I will yet praise Him Hope in your God My Savior and my God
I read Leviticus 11 today (the chapter about the instructions from the LORD to Moses and Aaron about the unclean and clean animals) and this Psalm was one of the songs by Sons of Korah I have been thinking about in relation to that passage. I particularly LOVE the beginning of this Psalm where it says "My soul is down in me/So I remember You" because it reminds me to throw off everything that is a stumbling block to my faith and start to remember that Jesus Christ is my LORD and all I need to do is let Him walk my journey with me and guide me right past those stumbling blocks so my soul will not be "down in me" anymore. Thank you for sharing this song and this message with all of us!
My soul is down in me
So I remember You
To the heights of Hermon from
The land of Jordan through
Deep calls to deep in
The roar of Your waterfalls
All of Your waves are over me
By day the Lord directs His love to me
All through the night His song is with me
With me
A prayer to the God of my life
I say to God
"Oh why, have You forgotten me?"
Why must I mourn, oh Lord
Oppressed by my enemies
My bones are crushed, Lord
My foes taunt me
They say to me, "Where is God?"
Why are you so downcast
Oh, my soul?
Why so disturbed now
Within me?
Hope in your God
For I will yet praise Him
Hope in your God
My Savior and my God
