Most people don't know this isn't the original Foggy Dew this version was written in 1919. The original was about a young man taking his life love to be his bride.
Wow! Fantastic rendition, but with one major flaw. All due respect to artistic license, but it doesn't make sense to say, "their names they'd sleep where the Fenians sleep, " and should be "their names we'd keep (remember) where the Fenians sleep. The names of those who fought should be remembered and honored.
my favourite version
I've always sung "their names we'd keep" -- just a slip of the tongue that one time in the studio. Glad you listened and noticed though :)
james bragg were you trying to remember all the words at the same time?
It's always good to learn that my work is appreciated. Thank you :)
