I understand if they decided to do a 3yr hiatus to go with the Destiny travelling between galaxies for 3 yrs but it should've been given a third season, it rightly deserved it.😤

+Seán Leahy it had minor use of comedy, yes, but Stargate isnt about being a sitcom is it? It was just witty. SGU lasted for 2 seasons, its potential to improve sunk because of bs reasons. It needed a fair chance, something it didnt really get imo...
+Seán Leahy i think that was the problem with fans though, they kept comparing it to SG1/A. U gotta realise the tone they had wouldnt have fit for SGU. The characters are in a daily struggle to keep alive. If fans would have recognised that, and recognised that SGU is separate, then maybe this show would've had a fair chance. And there is minimal chance this show will return, which is annoying to people who liked it. Really wanted to see at least another 2 seasons out of these guys. Not only that, but the conflicts going on back at Earth were interesting, to see how everything is carrying on after the whole ori/wraith ordeal.
The irony in the fans hating SGU is that that killed the SG:A Movie. A Atlantis Movie was planned but they Went ahead with SGU - thus delaying the Movie but not cancelling it. And all fans where butthurt idiots that out of spite refused to Watch SGU and that caused a drop in the ratings and low funding which killed SGU, Little did they realize that if they'd have supported SGU the Stargate franchise would have recieved funding again and they could have eventually created the SG:A Movie. The fans themselves killed the SG:A Movie, got to love that. And now it's to late to stop the inevitable Stargate Reboot.
I grew up watching StarGate SG1 then StarGate Atlantis and only some of you can feel the same feeling that I felt when SGU was cancelled ;_; So many feelings...
i try to look past some of the bad acting or stories of the not so interesting characters. and just have the perspective of the story at it's whole.......... a group of people forced into a situation because they were also in dire need of escape. arrived within a ancient ship of a long since passed civilization. and now these people are within the struggle of their lives within a unknown ship and with little history or knowledge of how to run it. later on they learn that this ship has been abandoned for more than a millenia and only follows it's core program directives within the ships computer. these peoples struggle to survive is not without it's up's and downs. but with the determination of the crew to face their fears of this unknown galaxy. and to learn from their experiences so they can better withstand the trials they will eventually face. you see i like the story of the fantastical and the unknown. but some of the backstories of the crew that the show used in it's style was not a really good idea. however it made it so you could know the crew within a more indepth point of view.
One of the things that has happened since folks have started uploading the music is to make me really pay attention to the music as I watch the episodes again. In SGU, I realized that Joel G. went and incorporated a lot of violins in the themes, which references back to Rush's wife who was a concert violinist. Then, in one of the pieces (I forget which one) there's a short rif echo of Daniel Jackson's death theme from Meridian. It's little things like that that make me realize what an incredible composer and arranger he was. Rest in Peace Mr. G.
Oh. I forgot to add that the music of SGU, unlike SG-1 and SGA, is so very symphonic, emotional and reminds me of John Williams' work. So sad to lose such a great composer as Jerry Goldsmith.
SGU is so unterrated ! Phenomenal series ! The atmosphere, the first recharging of energy into a star, the first encounter with the alien vessel ! And of course: The reveal of Destiny's mission ! So mind-blowing ! o_O Magical moments with great music !
This show was just too surreal. Listening to this and remembering some of those epic scenes I feel like part of the crew. Still adrift.. no hope of ever returning home, and yet at peace at with journey that lies ahead. Rest in peace SGU. sheds a tear
The best stargate series. Not just because its "the best stargate" but because it encapsulated the best of stargate as a whole. This is thee best sci fi series of thee best sci fi franchise ever, imho.
Stargate Universe depending on your opinion may or may not have been the right decision for continuing the lore of the epic Stargate franchise. However it should be noted that the soundtrack did have memorable moments. :) ps big shout out from Australia to all stargate fans!!
Stargate Universe's decline happened because most of the fanbase was used to a more chill and soap like tv series and because the show started slow with way too much emphasise on the character's personal life. Other than that, I enjoyed so much the new dark and serious vibe. While SG1 and SGA are some masterpieces in their own way, SGU always felt like the smarter brother that has more potential. The story was really interesting. I hope my guts that one day the show will be continued
@@GoldenJackalTutorial i loved the story in SGU, but the focus was a little too much on the drama side, though it was more realistic than the previous shows and we like realism mixed into our fiction, the issue is when the focus settles on a type of mood for far too long that it gets depressing to watch. but outside of this issue, it was a very well created show and the concept was good as well, some folks didn't much like that it had the dark and gritty shaky camera style of filming that BSG had and people were sick of that style by then, which i totally understand, some shows are just unwatchable when the camera shakes all the time, but when i was watching, it was not nearly as shaky or bad as a lot of other shows during that era, so i believe some folks just had a problem with that and couldn't get over it, but the dark and gritty mood of the show was also hard to take into consideration when it comes to the mood of your audience. they also had some subtle woke themes in the mix that rubbed people the wrong way, it's akin to adding to many things other shows had added ontop of everything else that ruined the foundation of the series that everyone loved. now i loved the show for some different reasons, i noticed all of the stuff they hated but i didn't focus on these things, i focused on the journey i focused on the story that was going on around them and the atmosphere of the destiny and the mystery or the universe and the aliens and just how the destiny lasted for millions of years on it's own lonesome path. now i didn't like the comic book ending, it was too simple and too lazy, it ended like a cartoon lol it was a comic after all, but the comic had one part of it that was interesting, the idea that some Alteran were on the ship, but i didn't like the idea that they were frozen all this time when not even their most advanced tech was not capable of sustaining life for longer than 10,000 years, so i sort of wrote a fan fiction based of them eventually creating a virtual world to live within as they needed to upload their minds into the ships mainframe in order to continue existing, but that was just one fan fiction direction that i went. the other direction was to save them using a very simple method of saving them that could have worked in the lore as the lore permits this idea working.

Benjamin Gadberry they wanted characters that weren’t perfect because they weren’t meant to be heroes like Sg-1 or the Atlantis team. They were meant to be flawed and that’s what made them great. They were supposed to be relatable and the fact they were thrown into a ship, they had to learn to cope with one another’s differences and work together.

The 9th chevron was the logical next step for the series, the symbols on the SGU gate of course wouldn't follow star constellations as they are numerical addresses and not based on star locations which are only "constellations" based on relative observation (ie, from another place in the galaxy, that constellation wouldn't be visible - the stars would but the arrangement would be different), and the enemies were far more consistent with what we should expect from Science Fiction, not the standard "humans with bumpy foreheads". If it was on a better network with better marketing it wouldn't have been cancelled, the serious tone put it in line with the heavy hitters on HBO, and due to its cancellation we are left with Stargate Origins.
