This car is awesome
Xpilot … is not done and .. for free. It is like AP but with lane change. I use it all the time in NL.
Tesla FSD is not done and costs 7500 euro in Europe and 12000 dollars in USA.
In fact, Xpeng said on the tech dag last month that they want to implement the first version of navigation guided pilot (NGP) in Europe by the end of 2024.
That means their version of full self driving on highways. Including overtaking and navigation.
Hi Bjørn, good video ( as always ). I'm very interested in the G9; will you also be testing the RWD with a small battery in terms of range and charging ( when available ) ? Keep up the good work, greetings from Germany
We bought one in the Netherlands and after a 2500km trip to Denmark I can say that we are very happy with it, even with current software. Xpeng already did one OTA update and they're planning on rolling out NGP (Xpeng full self driving for highways) before the end of 2024, that's exciting. They also want to merge Chinese and European software versions so you don't have to wait for Chinese versions (in theory).
X-Pilot also works way better on Dutch (and German) highways because they have very clear lines and don't have many sharp curves. Did a little road trip today where I drove nearly the entire highway (2 hours) with Xpilot + LCC. Nice and chill.
They still need to fix the bongs and chimes when using X-pilot though. Just let me turn them off or very low volume please :-(.
70-150 per month, really depends on where you live and how many schadevrije jaren you have. @@harmhoeks5996
Dude why are you commenting the same thing on every G9 video? Are you sponsored by Xpeng or something?
We get it, you like your car, even tho the software is shitty. Congratulations.
Pro tip: if you don't like my comments, ignore them.@@mickeynygaard
@@mickeynygaardNo need for that kind of behaviour,
He is just sharing his experience .. Nothing wrong with that.
@@mickeynygaardwhat a very envy jelousy nazty person you are .
I'm looking for a new electric car next winter, when my current lease goes out - will keep an eye out for this one.
The LCC activated in voice is a setting. In xpilot I believe.
I think when you turn off the driver awareness monitoring it might disable the controls for the driver assistance to check the driver is holding the steering wheel
Pls take a big eye further to the Efficiency… the consumption seems amazing for such a huge car. I am looking forward the 1.000 km range test💪🏼
If you press the "microphone off" button in a Chinese car, the Chinese secret service receives an alarm and they immediately switch live into the car. ;)
Dont you usually test the audio system in the range test video? 😊
It couldn't read USB device.
Do you perhaps know how fast the car can charge at 400volt chargers?
Wish they would sell in the US.
Xpeng probably has 1,000 or less vehicles with their current self-driving hardware & software in Europe. I think it is likely that this one area Bjorn has issues with is not complained about in China, where Xpeng has had hundreds of thousands of cars to tune the software on. ie, seems very likely in a year or so, this one aspect of the car Bjorn is not a fan of will flip into a strong point of these Xpengs.
Speeds on highways in China are much slower. Less than 100kph, mostly.
Should do a full 100% - 0% drive at 120 km/h to get a accurate estimate on range
Not enough time.
Impressive car really, some tlc on the software and it’s as good as anything.
At 1:58…”We’re gonna drive down to cleavage…. and back again”
Ohhh yeahhh, this car can do it while in Elon mode and a lady on the passenger seat.
Xpeng removed lidar from G9 European version, allegedly to save costs.
❤❤❤
Did you double check if the amount of energy delivered (accounting for charging losses) after charging back to 345km is consistent with the consumption you calculated?
Yes
@@bjornnyland thanks! 👍
#bjorn nyland ,I love all your videos especially your enthusiasm when you say what's up. I have Tesla model S 75d 2018 in the UK. I am an Uber driver, some of my passengers do not wear their seatbelts in the rear, I have put it on Joe mode to reduce the bing bong but it's still annoying. It is continuous. Is there any way to completely disable the seat belt bing bong. Please help....
Is it not illegal to not wear seatbelts when you drive? Plus an enormous safety hazard also for the driver?
A lot of taxi drivers in the Balkans just buy the belt buckle, chuck the buckle into the slot itself and drive like that. Apparently, they find it offensive if You try to put on the seatbelt as that's like "suspecting that they're bad drivers", like "Do you not believe in my skills friend????"
It's for me, I already have that, it is for my rear passengers
@@Abdurrob2 well is it not just getting more of those buckles, if you're so inclined on rather breaking the law and putting your life in danger to please the customers?
It’s always interesting to see these Chinese cars that aren’t sold in the US. NIO claims they’ll sell here one day, but I’m not so sure that will happen without them launching domestic production. 25% tariffs and lack of tax credit eligibility will make them quite a hard sell.
When are you testing the range of the new model 3 highland ? :)
When Tesla starts paying reviews like the Chinese 😂
@@PauloSilva-ui8gp 🤡
@PauloSilva-ui8gp Are you suggesting that Xpeng has paid Bjorn to do this test?
yes, and trashing their xpilot...right. born can only test what he can get. overall not too shabby this xpeng g9
when Marcus buys one :P
Hi Bjorn, Elon mode is sounds cool lol😅. Please tell Xpeng to fix the software and adas system and adapt it to Europe. Than it will be a very cool car! Atti
KIA EV9 when ?
The big problem with this car is the allowed weight
Egenvekt med fører
2 435 kg
Tillatt totalvekt
2 800 kg
Maks nyttelast
365 kg
Since you with the car is 2480, you can bring 320 kg, its okey if you only have small kids but 4 norwegian adults then you basicaly cant bring any luggage.
Many people address this, but if most countries have a lenience policy of 7-10% extra before you get a fine. Isn't that almost the same as saying it can handle 180kg extra? I know we should consider max weight and safety. But I refuse to believe it can't handle extra weight. But in any case, that should allow us to put in a luggage bag or three with a full car.
Here in the Netherlands you need to be over 10% of total car weight past the weight limit before you get a fine. That means another 250kg to spare. No issue at all, and I don't think we have a lot more crashes from "slightly overweight" cars.
Does it have real one pedal driving?
Yes and no. It has good regen braking, but it won't sit still, it still goes like 1-2km/h at crawl.
@@Timmahh85 Thanks! Why they mimik a flaw in a fossil car automatic transmission? Same with VW. But VW is worse when it doesnt remember the drivemode you where in and resets every time you lift the butt from the seat so you have no regen braking
Having a low too none regen and then just manually regen with the use of the brake pedal and having a 'crawl function' is the best combination in my eyes 👌 Don't try convince me about anything else, as I have driven electric for many years and know what I prefer.
Wasnt there some problem with the cargo load (nyttelast) ? I remember the production car weighing more than expected so you can only load it with something like 365kg or something (cargo + passengers).
It is even less with tow hitch. But 365kg without any options (440 including weight of driver). You can sort on this in our database. It is amongst the worst SUVs.
@@evkx makes no sense for such a huge car.
The car is 50 kg heavier than in the papers, so the actual payload is about 315 kg on the Performance version, with tow bar & comfort/audio package.
Here in the Netherlands you need to be over 10% of total car weight past the weight limit before you get a fine. That means another 250kg to spare. No issue at all, and I don't think we have a lot more crashes from "slightly overweight" cars.
@@maestroRodskjaer 50kg is nothing. It seems like it is within target then. However a bit low for such a big car.
Really nice car. It's a shame that's not a Seven Seater.
only 4.8m. Xpeng will release a seven seat MPV - X9(5.3m) this month in China.
well you can barely bring 4 adults in this car anyway, max weight rating is 365 kg without the driver which is basicaly 3 adults with minimal luggage.
nah it's the waymo mode
Better be hurry before EU put huge tariff
Well weird shit also happens when driving Tesla, so not only chinese cars :)
If anyone still wonders why VW invested in XPeng and asked them to design models for them, it’ll be clear after driving G9. Both hardware and software will come from XPeng for VW. XPilot is leading in China. They just need time to port it over and shake out the bugs. Another critical component is the manufacturing cost. VW wants that too. How to build a fat ETron level car for 30k euro.
"They need time" - Don't sell the car until the Xpilot software is out of alpha stage or inform your buyers that the feature is "coming later" instead
@@mickeynygaardYa should’ve disabled it until it was ready. They have the best ADAS NGP in China. The only one in more than a few cities (54 cities by year end), least intervention, and fastest driving speed through city traffic. It’s almost like their system is too advanced but not allowed in Europe. So they don’t have a simpler version ready.
soft...ware
"Microphone related fuctions will be turned off in all apps." This will not stop chinese people listening... 😂
Chinese EVs are true leaders in ADAS, Software and Infotainment!
With Chinese cars the bugs are contagious, escaped from a lab in Wuhan maybe.
These Chinese cars seem to have a pretty good hardware base, in general at a performant price, but their buggy software and those incessant ding dongs mean I'm not ready to buy one.
Would you spend double the money on a German to get rid of dingdongs?
@@Jajalaatmaar
For instance I stay with Tesla.
@@Jajalaatmaar you won't get full rid of it, as they also need to abide the new laws of EU. Give it time. Xpeng have reduced the annoyance level by customer feedback, so I'm sure they will continue to change the software to our liking.
But you are not spending double. This Xpeng is only a few thousand less than a comparable BMW or Audi @@Jajalaatmaar
If you pick the Model X you're still spending about 30% more. @@benoit6026
It’s such a shame that the Germans aren’t producing the best EVs 😢 Teslas are cheap crap and Chinese cars way to many bings and bongs. Audi a6 Enron looks like it could be very good, but until the Germans make a good EV, I’ll be buying another ICE car next time I think.
too expensive for chinese
Just like your iphone!
@@patrickfitzpatrick1600Apple is American, manufactured in China and India. Xpeng is completely Chinese.
Then go back to your junk cars
@@Sinr0ne Your point being???
@@Sinr0ne atleast with an Xpeng we don't need to expect the car loosing performance over time with software updates.
Can't wait to see that apple-car loosing power when it's time for a facelift 🤣
Can you make a new review after the new upgrade coming now in March?
