DIY is the BEST way to go! You’ll always know what’s going on with the car. Aaron, I just finished a MAF R&R about 3 hours ago, done in conjunction with an IDP plenum + GT3 throttle body swop. I was shocked to find that my original MAF did not have an O-ring to seal the MAF nestled inside the airbox tube. I looked under the car, and all around the engine bay. Nothing. This got me wondering how much micro-fine dust had gotten into my engine? My paranoia grew and grew until after dinner, when I lifted the car up to change a couple 02 sensors, and there it was. Phew!

Where did you get those little aluminum pieces to hold the quick release plastic in the release position?

+@eggbertfarnsworth5787 I have a whole separate video on them as a Tool of the Week. There is a link in that description to them. Breather hose removal tools… very helpful!

Again, another great video, however did you get the 1054 fault code?
Mine is pending when I scan the car and it points to the MAF, I just don’t want to fire a parts cannon at the car.
Thanks again for all your assistance on my projects. 👍

Hi ..just wondering if the actual plastic housing has to be replaced or can you just pop back in a new MAF? What is the advantage of replacing the housing?

Is it normal to have so much oil residue inside the intake tubing?

+mike dx great question! My Porsches always seem to be like that but probably shouldn’t be as bad? 🤷‍♂️

I think it’s a product of a failed air oil separator.
