You're totally right! I am quite late in writing this but I've played one game so for a good amount of time and it is quite different in the sizes of objects compared to non vr.
it's annoying trying to calculate my IPD because my iris colour is dark brown so it's almost the same as my iris. Thanks for this video though, helps a lot!
The quality is just bad depending on what game you play. I played Saints and Sinners on psvr and it was amazing, smoothly ran with zero frame drops. I then went to Rec Room, it was super pixelated and had constant frame drops. So do some research on what games actually look and feel when in psvr. It helped me make my experience better when just not playing games like Rec Room.
Thehulksterbeast defo not enough. Was expecting to be crammed in between cars while racing. GT VR is like doing a license level + trying to outdo your ghost car 😂
Even though Drive club VR isn't a simulation it plays out exactly how everyone imagined GT sport to be in campaign mode. Plus Driveclub VR has multiplayer which kind of blows GT sport away at this point in my opinion for £8 it was an absolute bargain. I own both games and pay'd full price for GT sport on release and personally I find Driveclub far better for some VR fun. Just wish it had official Nurburgring but oh well I suppose we got GT sport for that;)
dyllman98 I got my PSVR today (first time ever trying one too). The moment GT Sport goes from the pre race screen to in the car is fkn crazy! It's the biggest lie ever played on my brain!
I wish they would add simple sliders to that setting vs having to go through the step by step each time. I'd like to be able to just jump out of a game or video, tweak the settings, and go back in to see what the adjustment did.
These are first gen VR Headsets. They'll become clearer with HW upgrades from v2 onwards. I have a PS VR and I've tested with HTC Vive and PS VR is the cleanest and smoothest in my opinion with least screen door effect. Oculus Rift and HTC Vive have the worst screen door effect and things look therefore "hazy". PS VR is the sharpest of the 3 and the best VR imo.
just a tip, adjust the tracking light with the lights turned off. and play with them off too for better tracking. it tracks the lights not your body alot of vive and oculus vr players wont think to do that, also if youve watched them play.
I used to mess around with 3D shutter glasses on PC...this used to be called adjusting the parallax view. The eye to eye distance is very important and if not set correct for your eyes then it will influence how good or bad the 3D effect appears to you. It will also cause eye strain or make your eyes tired or heavy. If you feel like getting headaches after just a short period on the PSVR or get tired eyes then it's a good sign that you need to adjust this setting. Good video... not the best shot, but good info for those that haven't been getting the best out of their headsets. This stuff should be included in a tips booklet with the VR headsets. **** Take note SONY ****
It's never going to be "crystal clear" but proper set up will improve the experience 10 fold. Having used both the PS4 and the Pro for vr you absolutely need the pro if you want distant objects to be clear.
I replaced my PS4 with pro and still looks like shit like playing games with 240P . i hooked it to my PC and it looks amazing like playing games in 720p which is way better . i will try to download Vive games and use PC to play better VR . still some good games in PS4 but its unfortunate to see developers doesn't use PS4 PRO to make the VR look better .
N nOni I don't think it's going to be much better until the headset can play in 1080. I tried to play rise of the tomb raider on VR and it looked like shit. I know it was not specific for VR but you would think for the price it would be top notch but not the case. I'm thinking I'm gonna return it and just get 4K tv and ps4 pro
its not psvr problem its ps4 and developer , ps4 or pro can't handle VR which need 6 times more power than normal game . and developers are lazy to optimize the game .PS pro is useless as i got one and its same as VR developers don't care about it and you might get one or two 4k game but even that 4k will be downgraded like uncharted 4 shadow . so my advice juts stick with what you have and save money for PC .
N nOni oh God hear we go again. Same old shit. PS4 shit blah blah blah shit consoles blah blah blah graphics shit blah blah blah buy a pc. fucking idiotic master race. go and take your face for a shit.
Thanks for making this! I just got my psvr yesterday and I noticed on one game it seemed a bit blurry. I hope this fix you talk about in this video will help.
Amazing video of how to make PSVR crystal clear by following the installed setup notes and calibration utilities without actually making PSVR look crystal clear in the end. Good job.
Measuring the eye to eye distance does nothing to improve graphics. The lenses in the headset are fixed. You can't move them or do anything to them. The eye to eye distance only effects the 3d scaling. And even then you'd only notice it if it was way off. Things would look too big or too small. The only thing that helps with blurriness is how you position the headset on your head. When you're on those menu screens you should see the white lines as perfectly straight. If they look even slightly arched up or down, just position the headset lower or higher on your forehead.
You didn't hear him properly. He said it's a fix, but actually doesn't fix it, because it helps it... So yeah it fixes it. Because it isn't actually a fix, but it's a fix. In all seriousness, the video maker is a knob.
And then says it will help. He contradicted his self within 30secs in. Then at the last part hes likenif that dont help find the sweet spot. Okay sonlet me get this straight. He said it won't really help much at all then says it will same sentence. Proceeds to have the tutorial on placing the headset in front of camera and holding it still for 15 secs. 4 times this went on. Retune eye distance like WTF. You know how many times that alone would take me to get right. Let me just call my Eye Doctor up and have him send me my prescription and calibrate my VR. Then we take multiple shots of our eyes . after all that he says again if this doesnt help then try to adjust it to find the sweet spot. I'm at a lost for words here.
Whats the ideal Eye to Eye Measurement settings?. Default is 63mm. How does this affect the visual presentation? Would characters look huge at a 42mm or 72mm?
The ideal eye to eye measurement varies for the person. There isn't a specific no. Everyone is different. That's why that option is there. Once you run this you'll find out your personal ratio. I don't know how to really make it any easier to understand lol.
Also if you really want to optimize your experience, do what I did over a year ago and watch psvr Frank's videos. He goes through everything perfectly. Plus get the M cable gaming edition for the psvr. He also talks about this in one of his videos.
Psvr ipd setting is a virtual ipd and do not change clarity. It only change the scale of the virtual world, objects and npc. There is information on internet to manually input whatever psvr ipd value we want. Higher the value thinner and shorter the virtual world and things on it. Lower the value thicker and bigger the virtual world and things on it.
Saw another video, the dude taped the headset to a chair so it wouldnt move at all. Covered up one light so it wouldnt calibrate until he got it in the perfect spot.. remove the tape on the light then let it calibrate. This mad lad does it with one hand.
The eye to eye distance measurement are only useful regarding 3D environments. If you adjusted your }P}SVR manually by 7mm, you didn't mount it correct the first time. Normally, it's there's very little differents between the auto measurement and the manual measurement.
I just bought psvr, I'm not expecting so much in graphics but after playing for two years in 4k TV the resolution in this psvr is really low I can barely read the small letter and what really annoyed me is the motion sickness after playing res7 for only 10mins
Guys, u need to give PS VR some time. New updates will come that might improbe the resolution and quality of the image in the headset, and remember, if games will be more adwanced then the quality of the image in the headset will be good, just give is some time.

Maybe he means to say it in another way. There could be software patches that allow devs to utilize different aspects of the hardware...like unlocking CPU limitations, better optimizations between the console and headset etc : )
He clearly says updates that will improve the resolution and quality of the image. That's not possible, It's like saying "you need more ram? Just download it." The only way the image could look better is if they introduce some kind of supersampling for certain games. But the ps4 is definitely not powerful enough to handle any sort of supersampling. They would never give such control to users because it could cause the game to lag and would give people motion sickness or even crash the console/game.
