Rip Steve you were part of my teen years loved your music we are losing to many of the good ones
One of the most underrated musicians ever. RIP Steve
??? He was never underrated what do you mean?
@@Depak1959 Ignore the idiot its a word tools say all the time in circumstances like this. Clueless plank
If I had a dollar for every time I see that overused effing underfuckinrated word to describe practically everything famous and worldly talented then I'd be millionaire 😂. I've even seen it describing Prince and Iron Maiden ffs. Stick it up you're arse and keep it there. Harley was on this planet making timeless music since the early 70's and influenced zillions of very thankful artists worldwide.
@@Depak1959it wouldn’t be a music related video on UA-cam if someone didn’t weirdly feel the need to write a comment about something being underrated. It doesn’t matter who it is; Steve Harley, the Beatles, Mozart, Pavarotti, …
Absolutely shattered 💔 Thankyou for the music and the memories Steve. R.I.P 😢
Me too. Dreadfully sad...
i Just heard about his dead so sad i had a crush on him when i was verry young loved the songs sebastian make me smile. glam rock. a little bit. what a time steve harley and cockney rebel. i didn no about the cancer. music and performing was his life. he never stopped. rest in peace steve harley. loved the music. what a time what a life.
Part of my youth has disappeared. First saw him in 1973 and many times after. Lovely man who genuinely had time for others.
one of my biggest heroes, such a fantastic artist. So sad. RIP Steve
My mum and dad travelled far and wide watching Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel, ardent and passionate fans. When my mum was in the final stages of her battle with cancer, we decided to surprise her by myself and my two sisters joining them to a concert in Holmfirth. After that night, I was hooked. 'Sebastian' especially blew my mind! My mum died a few months later, but me and my dad went to another concert in Manchester later that year and it was every bit as good as my first taste. We planned to see him again in Buxton in December last year, but he cancelled due to illness. On the one hand, I'm sad I only got to see him live twice. On the other, I'm ecstatic I got to see him live at all. He'll forever be a link to my family and one of my favourite artists of all time.
Sleep tight, Steve. You've more than earned your rest.
What an Incredible Legacy to write and perform some of the best Rock/Pop Music ever
written and to then share it over numerous Decades with Generational Audiences that
never tire of listening to the Chords and Words of a poetic Musical Genius.
Thank you Mr. Steve Harley safe Journey' on your '' Timeless Flight''.
Shine on Steve. From the Victoria Theatre in Manchester in '76 you made me smile.
Godspeed Harley. Can't tell you how much I played The Best Years Of Our Lives album as a teen. My friends didn't get it but I sure did. RIP Sir.
Such a wonderful musician and songsmith. You were a fantastic live performer with such a talented backing group. Lovely lovely man ❤❤❤❤❤
very sad to hear Steve is gone..
R.I.P.
you was a part of my youth..
somebody called me Sebastian.
Sebastian - one of the best songs ever written
Thank you for the music , r.i.p. 😢
A beautiful singer and performer. Totally underatted. ❤
Brilliant music- RIP Steve❤🙏
🙏🇳🇱
I always find it hard to understand why, when a music legend like Steve and many others like him who have recently left us, can not have the decency and respect of a real human voice speaking their true, from the heart love, sadness and feelings as opposed to a bloody programmed robot. They deserve better. Rest in Peace you rebel and we’ll all ‘come up and see you’ one day. God bless.
Steve was quite simply a great songwriter. Starting with the brilliant album Human menagerie he released some great albums and singles with his most famous being Make me Smile.
However despite the quality of these releases he was still yet to release what , to me, is one of the best albums ever. The wonderful "Timeless Flight" is a masterpiece ......would recommend anyone who hasn`t heard it to give it a listen.
I couldn’t agree more !
After hearing the sad news yesterday, Timeless Flight was the album I played.
I then listened to it again when I got in last night, and drank a toast to a masterful performer. RIP.
Timeless Flight was & remains a gem of an album & in my opinion Steve’s best. “Understand” is a fantastic song & rarely heard …”you’ll haunt me forever you know that you will”😔 RIP Steve & fly high on your Timeless Flight.
Steve, i know the angles have you now! your in good hands , i was privileged to have seen you perform 5 times over the years, every time it was awesome , as a fellow musician i appreciated your work so much so, that i returned to music after a ten year absence, you will always be an inspiration to me, a truly great artist , i hope i get to see you in the next life RIP.
little known but his greatest ever song i believe is " Sebastian" eerily otherworldly and dreamlike., Nothing quite like it.
My favourite song also.. so powerful😢
Rest in peace Steve. Thank you for the music.
'Make me Smile' has joined the ranks of British Classics. RIP. SH.
From what I've seen, Steve sounds like a lovely, genuine person.
"Come up and see me (make me smile) is one of the most uplifting songs ever written.
Steve was touring in 2023 and it sounds like he enjoyed himself up until near the end.
Vale Steve Harley
RIP mate.
Australia loves you.
Gods speed Steve….not sure we will see the likes of you again, we were sure lucky to have had you in our lives.
he wrote some timeless classics .thanks steve ..onwards and upwards
Make me smile is a timeless classic. To write even one song like that is enough for greatness.
Steve came from humble origins, Dad, Ron, was a Milkround man, Ron spent his old age with his wife living in Newick ,East Sussex.
Steve had Polio as a child and has 3 Brothers and a Sister, all of whom have done very well in life, bless them all.
The real surname is, 'Nice'.
Thanks for being such an important person during ‘ the best years of my life ‘ ‘made me happy ‘🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️

Excellent musician and lovely guy...you will be missed terribly thanks for the music
Growing up playing in bands , there are always going to be influences and myself being a frontman singer songwriter, my mum would talk of this incredible man not just as a musician and singer , but an incredible individual performer and I became fascinated, so I went to explore I heard ‘ Judy teen ‘ and I was hooked tried to emulate his stage persona, probably more than the music , even though my band would cover ‘Judy teen ‘ and ‘ make me smile ‘ this was 1990 and I was 19 🙏 at that age he became my Morrisey , Bowie , Lou Reed etc my girlfriend cut my hair in the same style , he had in seventies 🤣🤣🙏 saw him live a few times and shook his hand once , I’m 53 now and feel like of lost a distant family member who was so influential and integral at such a Young informative age , yeah his music was the soundtrack to the best years of my life 🙏🙏 thank you Steve god bless
'Make me Smile' was a true one off record, something to wipe away the loss of The Beatles, the grimness
of punk and the fakery of Bowie.
u have a big place in my heart RIP, your music will be here forever
Steve, Thanks for the memories of my teenage years with "Make me smile".
Every time I heard Come up and see me make me smile it reminded me of going to Shuffles dance hall in Glasgow in the mid 70s great times RIP Stevie boy

Judy Teen was a Big Hit. It's so sad to lose incredible Pop Stars of the 1960s. I'm lucky to have been a Teenager when Cockney Rebel was Around !!!

I first saw Steve live in 1974 at the Winning Post in Twickenham when Judy Teen was in the charts. That evening changed my life and I have loved his music and the lyrics ever since. What a wordsmith, you have enriched my life, thank you and I will miss you.

Rest in Peace.
This narrater obviously doesn't understand music genres at all..rock star??? He had one pop hit 50 years ago. So commercially not successful. Has been touring and living off a few tunes half a century ago...let's be honest and factual here American bling
He had many hits. Mr soft , Judy teen, mr soft, here comes the sun etc, plus his work in musical theatre. You need to research more
Well said !@@nicksmart5469
@@nicksmart5469 blind fan worship rings true in your silly comments...commercial success..let's study the facts I know and you obviously don't....50 years ago..thats half a century. Average album sales 100,000 copies. That's globally...in real terms a failure. Best album sales around 330.000 (one album)....in music business terms thats a minor success...never to be repeated . So in reality a one hit wonder who couldn't better that in 50 years. Stop making a fool of yourself. Fan worship is so blind
@@voicevoice2053 I saw him play to packed venues for over four decades & he was a showman. He played because he loved it. If your benchmark is commercial success, I can suggest Kylie Minogue or even Taylor Swift. It may be poppy & vacuous but it sells millions!
you are wright. boy some people he was verry succesful music for his ec girlfriend yvonne keeley. etc.@@nicksmart5469
R.I.P Steve Legend
