    Grade 6th on Khan Academy: By the 6th grade, you're becoming a sophisticated mathemagician. You'll be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide any non-negative numbers (including decimals and fractions) that any grumpy ogre throws at you. Mind-blowing ideas like exponents (you saw these briefly in the 5th grade), ratios, percents, negative numbers, and variable expressions will start being in your comfort zone. Most importantly, the algebraic side of mathematics is a whole new kind of fun! And if that is not enough, we are going to continue with our understanding of ideas like the coordinate plane (from 5th grade) and area while beginning to derive meaning from data! (Content was selected for this grade level based on a typical curriculum in the United States.)
    About Khan Academy: Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. Our math missions guide learners from kindergarten to calculus using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps. We've also partnered with institutions like NASA, The Museum of Modern Art, The California Academy of Sciences, and MIT to offer specialized content.

    Hello Khan, for the last question it would have been true if you said "older or equal to 13 years old"
    Since we sort the data in ascending order, values above the 50 th percentile should be greater or equal to the median value
    Exemple:
    We do have the following data in a list : (6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 13,13,15,16,17,18,19)
    Q2 value = 13 ( 8 th value in the list)
    Q3 value = 16 (12 th value in the list)
    Q1 value = 9 (4 th value in the list)
    We see that some values above the Q2 is equal to 13 not only greater than 13
    Khan's last question would have been true if he said " Exactly half of the students are 13 years old or older for an even number of points"
    Thanks.

    Last question answer is wrong the right answer is( False) because the median is on 13 so 13 and all what comes after it are 50% together. So if it was half students are 13 and older that was going to be right but without 13 is wrong it`s near to half but not half so the answer is FALSE.

    • @badoiuecristian
      @badoiuecristian 7 років тому

      Not really. Think about the fact that you have seven numbers from 1 to 7, the middle number (median) is 4 but is the data really 50:50 divided? The Answer is no because if you want the data to be 50:50 divided you would need to calculate as follows: 7/2=3.5. In our scenario is 50% of data exactly bigger than 4 answer is no. Is 50% of data bigger than 3.5 the answer is yes. But we can answer this question just because we know all the numbers involved.
