Thanks to Aleks and the Small Town Monsters crew for letting us be a part of this!
I'm so glad that STM included y'all in this! Be safe and good hunting 🙏
Jessi and Joe just doing a great job as always, no big deal
Thanks for being a big part of it!
Be careful going into these places.. 😮 Spooky.. Always take your A-2

I also appreciate VERY MUCH the historical aspects. Many documentaries on the LBL only focus on the paranormal aspects. But i think it's important to know about the whole picture. And you folks nail it every time no matter what area your covering. Great job once again.
Thanks Tom! Glad you appreciated my attempts to highlight much more than just the paranormal stuff. When I visited there, I was struck by the other bizarre stories like the "Vampire cult" and crimes that have taken place. Everybody focuses on the Beast of LBL, and while there is a story to tell there, I felt it's only just one part of the overall story. -Aleks
@@SmallTownMonsters Well i think it's important Aleks for any researcher to know about an area's "back history" per say. Which often can tie in the paranormal aspects. In my 30+yrs being in the avian field. When i take folks out birding i give them a little history lesson about the area as well. I think it actually keeps people more interested who might not find birding all that exciting. Particularly if i'm having a "no action" type of day. It really saves my trips throwing that in there as a gap filler. And people do find the outings more enjoyable. I mean who doesn't like history right...? And your not to far from me i live on Cape Cod, MA i know the Bridgewater Triangle area well. With you being from NH.
@@tomtalker2000 Great points! I'm a history buff so I love covering that type of stuff and I couldn't agree more, it helps paint a broader picture, especially if you're dealing with a geographic area like here with the LBL. With this series I'm definitely hoping to have a broader appeal with more than just folks into Cryptid and Paranormal stuff so bringing in the history part is a must! -Aleks
As an LBL native, and who's grandfather and grandmother are both buried at the Paradise Cemetery in the LBL, you nailed almost all of the information in this documentary. My grandfather grew up directly in the LBL in the 1940's and early 50's, when he was a kid and teenager. The Land Between the Lakes is also very haunted, as there are many Indian burial grounds located throughout the peninsula. As a kid myself, my grandfather would tell many terrifying experiences that him, his siblings, and mother all encountered. There was one particular incident when his mother's bed was lifted and picked up off of the floor, and hovered there for 10-15 seconds with her in it. So not only are there unknown beasts that roam the LBL and all of the rituals, but the place is also very haunted. My grandfather also told me stories of strange lights that they would randomly see in the sky over their home, and also in the woods themselves. My grandfather didn't believe in aliens, so he always thought that the strange lights were ghosts traveling throughout the area. There were also many people who lived near the LBL, along with outsiders who would travel to the LBL, and conduct ritual and sacrificial activities inside the peninsula. We were all aware of certain places not to go, along with certain times of the day/night, to avoid these ceremonies. It was well known who some of the people that came here to do some of these rituals were, too. It was usually important people with prominent roles in society that would partake in these events here, such as judges, lawyers, law enforcement officers, and even doctors. I have even heard stories of people accidentally stumbling upon one of these rituals at night in the forest. The attendees would usually be dressed in all black, with long, black robes with hoods on them. Every story I heard about someone coming across one of the rituals, the person(s) was always chased out by them, as it seemed that these people were not too happy. Finally, there are many other well known places hidden in the LBL that also has deep, dark history. One well known building that is still standing for some reason is the old St. Vincent church. This old church that has a cemetery next to the building, is known to be extremely haunted with some sort of evil entities. There have been many investigators that have came here to attempt to find out the church's dark secrets, with many having horrific experiences. Some had something physically touch them, and some have even had their lives changed forever. These are just a few more examples of what else is hidden within the forest in the Land Between the Lakes.
You've gotta get the material to cover your equipment for emf / rdf frequencies. Their senses are potentially way more sensitive than anyone could guess. I believe that's why there so few actual trail cam pics an or videos.
He should have believed in Aliens. There is more evidence to support their existence than Dogman. We can't ever get answers though, cause if we figure all this stuff out, it wouldn't be as interesting
Have you ever seen or believe in the dogman encounters in the LBL ?
These people with nocturnal rituals were they thought to be satanists?
@@ilovemyplayfulcat320 Yes, I've seen things there that a lot of people would associate or claim was a Dogman.
Martin’s story was bone chilling !! Great video guys !!
It's definitely very intriguing and quite compelling, whatever happened. Thanks for watching! -Aleks
I don’t have a clue what happened but it messed him up.
Yes. He's definitely the first one to tell the encounter of THE GRINNING DOGMAN which I find extremely disturbing. Not to mention the part about something not totally human smoking a cigarette watching. I watched that story 5 times over the course of a year. I believe it was on Barton Nunnellys channel. I love that version of the story by the fire best. This interview didn't even mention the bowhunter. I have to say I don't think the squatch were there working with the Dogman. Squatches don't mix with Dogman. 1 on 1 a Squatch would tear a Dogman up. So I'd say maybe it was there to step in if needed. There's alot more going on than people realize and I could care less who believes. I am certain we don't know half of whats out there. In the woods, in the oceans, in the sky. We aren't top the food chain anywhere we go.
What ever happened to his hunting partner. Did he get to tell his side?
One thing that pierced my ear, though, was that in the version that he told in "The confessionals",his partner was so afraid that he ran right after he discharged his weapon, leaving Martin behind....in this version they both walked to the car...
I reside in Stewart County and LBL is less than 5 miles from my place. I’ve hiked in LBL for years since the 1980s. As a former law enforcement officer I am familiar with several of the unsolved cases. My wife’s two cousins were the two girls who were murdered in 1980.
Have you ever heard of people talking about the family that died while camping at the LBL in the camper I was just wondering if that story is really true.
@@ilovemyplayfulcat320that’s a tricky one. so, there’s supposedly another 5th person involved in that. an extra family friend, who lived. there’s a dogman podcast thing on youtube and he speaks about it. there’s only one, and gosh it’s scary. true? i’d need more credibility - but it’s bone chilling.
@joonbug3856 yes I have heard that person that got underneath the Rv Roger I think is his name but I'm 54 years old and around that time of that Rv event happening I was in middle school I do remember a family wad murdered or something it was a long time ago and even then the media was being controlled and couldn't tell anything close to the truth I'm sure.
This episode is one of the most compelling and entertaining I have seen. Thanks everyone for the mighty work you have done to bring this to us. Husband and I made a 3 hour stop at LBL a year ago. I only knew bits and pieces about LBL. We drove down one lane rock roads with the forest engulfing us. We stopped at 2 cemeteries. We got out of our car several times. We never saw another person. Now I'm thinking, "What an idiot I was!!" I felt uneasy because the surroundings felt strange. Knowing what I know now, I will never go back!!!
There are over 270 cemeteries.
That interview with Martin was one of the most compelling experiences I have ever heard. He is still so traumatised by his encounter as you would be.
Love the hellbent guys. I follow them on UA-cam.
Great STM production again. Stay safe guys from England 🇬🇧 xx
So you've heard his longer version? Intense!
It's a good story... But yeah, nothing more. The teary eyed emotions were a nice detail, though.
One thing that pierced my ear, though, was that in the version that he told in "The confessionals",his partner was so afraid that he ran right after he discharged his weapon, leaving Martin behind....in this version they both walked to the car...
They don’t get everything right. LBL attracts many hikers, campers, and horseback riders. We camp and ride over there all the time. It brings in quite a bit of revenue for the Dover area. People come from all over the country to ride, fish and camp.
The best STM documentary yet!!! Aleks you done an awesome job! The interviews and footage was beyond words. Loved the history and the beast accounts. Hellbent Holler was freaking AWESOME!!! Martin Groves account is always hard to listen to. STM, you guys hit it out of the park with this one.
Thank you, JB!
Thank you Julie! It was definitely a fun one to put together. -Aleks
Excellent job shedding light on what the government did to those communities
Sad isn’t it?
Riveting. Even my 85 year old mother cane in to ask about that account as she'd overheard from the other room. Great job guys! Love it! 👣
I hate the families were displaced and lose their homes. So very sad.The bitterness has soaked into the land....
Wow.
The government is my biggest fear. They`ve destroyed every chance I`ve ever had of succeeding in life.
Fantastic Episode....Great seeing Jessi & Joe ... Hellbent Holler are incredible researchers⚔

@nnor636 Not sure what they are referring to but it might be the Bridgewater Triangle related video we did a couple of years ago for my Bigfoot Beyond the Trail series: ua-cam.com/video/Ue8k5h9Dw-A/v-deo.html -Aleks
@@SmallTownMonsters My reference is that this film is in the same vein as the one about the 'Bridgewater Triangle', not that they are directly related one to the other. You, yourself Aleks brought it up when discussing how the lore surrounding both locations is similar, with the similarity being the way the lore is told and has an affect on the surrounding environs. Cheers.
I'm so glad your covering the LBL Aleks. Very bizarre area and that story of that family getting massacred by that Dogman was truly frightening. There are even police authorities who still won't talk about what really happened in that case. I guess it shook them up that much. But something is definitely going on there. I don't know if it's still happening but according to those who live in the area it does at times. A lot of focus is put on Bigfoot i think FAR MORE needs to be put on Dogman. Another great documentary as usual.
None of those police officers or paramedics have ever been located as far as I'm aware. That tells you somethin'. Cool story, though.
They all commited suicide by shooting themselves in the back of the head twice then they threw themselves in the river!@GilbertSyndrome
This was such an awesome doc. One of my absolute favorites so far. What a crazy place!
Glad you liked it!
@@SmallTownMonstersI love your strange places/history docs, plz do more! Btw I live in the Bridgewater Triangle so if you ever come back, happy to forward my mountains of local research if you want it. (Weird experiences sent me down historical rabbit holes).
Yes but when they speak about the Vampire killings, Rod was just a fantasized vampire larper and the murders happened in Florida. He was just from Kentucky. I believe his mom even participated which is weird
@@t.l.1610 yes the Bridgewater triangle. I suggested to Wonderland of the Weird that she do an ep on Bridgewater Truangle cause there's so much going on there. Squatch, Puckwudgies, portals, UFOs, haunted roads, native American curses, cult activity and sacrifice, murders and ghosts. To my suprise, she ended up enthused by my suggestion & did a vid about it. She researches well & has the most soothing voice for storytelling.

@@HellbentHollerHey Jess and Joe! Great job representing the LBL!
Sad thing is this has happened all across the nation. In every State practically, and others for alot less of a reason than power through electricity. Governments suck
I love your work! Thank you for all that you do in preserving our history & Folklore.
Two wonderful people Joe and Jessi. My favorite detectivs from Hellbent Holler. Waited a long time for seeing this. Kudos to Small Town Monster to do this. God bless🇺🇸🇳🇴
Thank you!!!
This incident wasn’t the only one in Kentucky where the government took people’s land away. Camp Breckinridge in Morganfield displaced many families, including land of my ancestors and their cemetery or headstones with it. An elderly lady who may have passed by now petitioned the government every year over the loss of her family homestead. Very sad and tragic.
Gov always takes what they want one way or another
I truly enjoy your programs. There are strange incidents that occur that are hard if not impossible to explain. As a retired Deputy I have witnessed things that I cannot explain. Please keep making this excellent programs. One day I will be able to join.
Great video Alex. So interesting. Whatever people choose to believe- it stops you in your tracks when Martin Groves, relays his encounter. It's quite clear, that he heard and saw something, that scared him to the core and it has cast long shadows. Jessi and Joe are always intrepid and I'm a big fan. Thanks Alex

This is great Aleks, excellent show. Great job getting Jessie and Joe on here as they have done some great research and fieldwork on this place and found some very disturbing things over there at LBL. Aleks, great show. I'm originally from Kentucky but live in GA now. I went camping there in 1968 with the boy scouts. I was back in 2021. Compared to the first trip, the place is a dump. But it feels so creepy now.... Thanks again.

Enjoyed the documentary and You had a good man with you Mr Mark Newbill
I had family who had this same thing happen to them in Collingwood Ontario. They had land on blue mountain not the side the ski resort is on but the back side. Two men came to my grandfather and told him this is what they are giving him for the land and either he takes what they are offering or they will just take the land. That land was never used for anything they merely just took it cause they could for whatever reason.
Hell yeah Jess and Joe!!!!
Thank you, Noah!
💚👋 Alek, great informative history and geographical areas of Kentucky. Also, the local stories of encounters of strange mysterious events that took place through the years. I'm definitely looking forward to episode 2
Thanks for sharing this
Before hearing about the high strangeness at LBL, I enjoyed memories of sleeping over at a friends cabin and learning to water ski in Lake Barkley. In 1972. So sad to see the place in such disrepair. It was a lovely area, but I didn’t know it was at the cost of generations of lost homes.
🏆🤗💙🙏
Thank you for sharing
That area is creepy, but not from any paranormal reasons. It is one of those places where you don't just go wandering through, unless you are with someone from the area. There is A LOT of bad blood about that place. Many of the families down there still treat that area like they still own it. It is desolate. Weed growers. Ginseng hunters, who are very protective of their honey holes. Hogs that will eat every part of you and leave no trace. There are places like this all over the Appalachian region. I have a friend by Elm Grove that I was in the Navy with and I would go visit him in the summer for 2 weeks. He took us on quite a few trails with our atvs. Some places are open to the public, but I would recommend treading lightly. This place is no exception. Like I said. It is a creepy place, and beautiful as well. Don't go in there unless you have a firearm. Just don't flash it around and they won't know you have one. Many people there do carry. Don't go bushwhacking in there during hunting season. A good way to piss the locals off. The threats in there are not paranormal. Thanks for the video. You told a good story.
Loving everything you guys put out ! Keep it comin’ !!! 👍

Another great video! Thank you!!
Very well done. Good to see familiar faces with Jessi and Joe sharing their personal experiences and knowledge. I definitely recommend checking them out at Hellbent Holler.
LBL has an aura about it that is hard to pinpoint. I grew up camping, hunting, fishing, hiking, and exploring the area from the late 60's as a child with my family, throughout to 70's, and into the mid 80's.
It was truly a beautiful place to grow up, but there are seemingly random places there that feel almost forbidden to venture into. Where peace dissolves into a nervous anxiety that wills you to leave for no apparant reason, like a foreboding of doom gripping your soul.
"The bitterness soaked into the land" is fitting. I remember being told that "Evil radiates from the land."
This was a good one. Jessi and Joe are well kitted 👍
We take this stuff seriously

What a wonderful video, I live near the road to nowhere, where the tva took away land. I believe that anytime there are supernatural experiences in an area the government takes over the land and put in a national park! Why are they taking away so much land, and why are there so many missing people in the Parks could there be portals in these areas?
