- On Tuesday I flew my first DMSt flight for this season. The weather forecast was good, but at the end of the day it was very hard to finish the task. Half an hour circling in a 0,3 m/s climb was the only possiblity to get back to Stillberghof. It was very exciting to the end!

Als Scheinanwärter würde es mich sehr interessieren wie du taktisch vorgehst. Dies könntest du ja live während der Aufnahme den Zuschauern mitteilen. Folgende Fragen interessieren mich: Wann nimmst du einen Bart? Ab welcher Höhe wirst du definitiv einen Bart nehmen? Welche Wolken fliegst du an und warum? Was sind für dich Wettererscheinungen (z.B. Abschirmung) die du auf keinen Fall anfliegst?

Yes, I made it back to the field! Filming at the end when you don´t have lots of buffer altitude (about 100 m), is very difficult. Therefor I should use a GoPro or actioncam ;)
In the video you can see a short sequence of the OpenVario, where I´m 16 km away from the airfield and have 100 m arrival altitude with MC 0,0. But the air was completely calm, no thermals and my Std. Libelle glides very good.

Mit einem modernen Flieger wäre natürlich deutlich mehr drin gewesen. Fairerweise muss man aber auch sagen, dass der Wetterraum relativ klein war und man mit der Clubklasse noch ein ordentliches Dreick fliegen konnte. 1000 FAI wären mit der Offenen Klasse nicht drin gewesen.
Hi Stefan, why u start with altimeter set on 500m ? Is it AMSL ? In Poland we usually set on AAL :)
Hi Jakub, yes the 500 m are above MSL. It´s better when you fly cross country and need to land somewhere. To set the altimeter on AAL is good for local flights.
how do you pee?
Just a plastic bag will do, but it's quite uncomfortable in a lying position, so many glider pilots use a urine bag equipped with a catheter and a condom. In that way you can concentrate on your flying and drink sufficient water and minerals, very important and not to be underestimated.
