  • Lisa Fairfax, Antoinette Coakley and Nina Simmons join MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell to discuss why Republican attacks against Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson were “just a show for no one’s benefit” and demonstrated that “enough never seems to be enough,” even for the most qualified Supreme Court nominee in history.

These are "sisters" with real and meaningful voices.
These women, and many more women like these, are the reason why there is still yet hope for America in the years to come.
To administer real justice, you have to know and experience injustice. To be truly fair, you have to know and experience unfairness. To be appropriately impartial, you have to know and experience the barbs of those who are extremely partial to one set of values.
Forget the naysayers, racists, bigots and privileged - KBJ not only earned her position in the Supreme Court - she deserved it for the grace, humility and thoughtfulness she exhibited throughout the debacle of her confirmation hearing.
I'm only disappointed in one aspect of this great advancement - and that is that this appointment will exclude her from ever having the opportunity to run for the highest office in America; however - presidents come and presidents go.....KBJ IS HERE TO STAY!!!

First, I am so glad that KBJ has broken a huge glass ceiling. As a student of history, I was excited to see this happen In my lifetime. As for the vile, disgusting things said I am hoping this will wake people up. They say elections have consequences. I say anyone who is that rude and vile to a nominee doesn’t deserve to be in congress. I’m not sure when these GOP senators are up, but we need to vote them out. The dignity and grace by KBJ is awe inspiring. The vile, racist and rude nature of the GOP is shameful. These senators didn’t want questions answered, they wanted campaign fodder. These GOP senators assassinated KBJ’s character. Last time I checked, that’s called slander. Vote these GOP senators out for the sake of humanity and decency.

I stood there for hours while the white, male student stood by his side, learning what there was to be taught. After leaving the room when the surgery had ended, I ran into the stairwell and cried my eyes out, humiliated and broken by the experience. One of the great moments in the history of the United States.
All true Americans recognise this moment in the progression
of this great country, those who tried to prevent this vital step
forward, shame on you, you are what's wrong with society in
this modern democracy. You want to turn back time, you cling
to the belief that the color of your skin gives you precedence
over Americans whose skin colour is different to yours, you are
cowards, you daren't give voice to your true beliefs, except with
those who share your evil beliefs, shame on all of you. Time will
do as it always has done, it cannot be stopped, you will be confined
to the annals of history, where you belong. Do one good thing for
your country, step aside and let the true Americans pass, those who
seek to make America a great country for all of its people, not just
    for the privileged few.

Qualification and competence isn’t good enough to prove that you are enough. Some people want you to debase yourself to give them the satisfaction of lording over someone that worked; strived, toiled, and studied harder than them. Many sitting executives, politicians, and leaders aren’t deserving of their station or titles and their character and bearing proves that out.

I am 100% certain they all thought "Let's get the "black woman" to show itself by taunting her. It'll show eventually."
I know it because I've heard it many times.
But these people failed to see ONE very important thing: the Kavannah difference. His reaction to the same type of attack on him. He DID fail to hold up under that pressure. It was only his hostility, his reaction, that made me think he didn't have what it took to be a SCJ. I didn't care much about his early college days. Just his reaction.
And therein lies the problem they NEVER grasp.

Katanji turned the other cheek, never got drawn into trading an insult, never judged the questioner, kept a focus on what she was there to achieve. In the questioning she was faced with racism, bigotry, a hatred for both the left and the middle ground of politics. I also saw public support for lies and conspiracy theories in several of the questions. There were times in the questioning when I felt under attack for having moderate and fair political views. Katanji was attacked for being black, for being a woman and for her political allegiance. White, right wing extremism is becoming more public again and as a white European male I find it shocking that people dared to show that face of that brand of politics in this appointment hearing.

Keep in mind, the only reason that the Supreme Court is 'conservative' is because of the electoral college. The electoral college system appoints presidents who sometimes are not wanted - those who do not win the 'popular vote'. If each vote counted toward the result, rather than putting the votes though the antiquated filter of the electoral college - the president would be who the majority voted for, and the Supreme Court nominees would have come from that president (in this case, three nominees would have come from Hillary Clinton, who won the popular vote in the 2016 election). Democrats need a super majority (plus a few extra to nullify idiots in the senate) - say, 65 senators, and get rid of the electoral college. Then, the United States can finally move forward and have legislation that matches the majority, and a Supreme Court that doesn't flirt with taking away women's rights.

"If they would attack someone as brilliant as her..."... SOOOOO right. This is the substance of who these and like minded people are. From top to bottom, inside out, and everywhere in between they are barely human. They do so lack that which makes the absolute best of us, the best of us. They've no dignity. No shame. No sense of responsibility to or for anyone or thing that will not in some way bring them perceived benefit. They're all so very small. Without their dollars or their fathers' dollars, or their donors', or constituents' for that matter; who and where would they be? Obsolete because they are NOT men for God's sake. Not even fundamentally well people. They are small. No matter, FINALLY! She's taking her well earned and deserved place as a Justice, and in history.
