My standard Sunday morning get up do a few things then watch this channel and see what new and creative build you have on. It is actually really good because a certain amount of that water is probably seeping in from the pond so getting naturally filtered.
Not even 2 min in and I’m thoroughly entertained. Every Saturday I wish for my own Don, and appreciate your knowledge of popular culture from 20+ yrs ago, and sense of humor.
The things you come up with awesome really enjoyed the video never disappointed. Have a good day and stay safe Jimmy from North Attleboro Massachusetts
Kevin, I absolutely appreciate that you look at see all the possibilities. I also love that when you are "building" something, you will use whatever is handy (and mostly free!), and make it work. I love the way your brain works, and your creativity. And that your friend Don supports you and makes suggestions or works on ways to help.
Hey dude I have watched everything you have posted several times, love your work buddy please say g'day to Don and your brother for us. Thankyou for your time posting your content, love your sense of humour
That wasn't quite the type of water feature I was anticipating but it certainly seems to function as you intended. And of course Diggin' Don was on site to lend a hand.
I used a submersible pump when I dug a well on our land in the Philippines. It worked as a water jet and got the dirt and rocks loose pretty quick. I just lifted that out with a pail and rope. I'd let the well fill up and then just pump out the water enough for me to get back in and keep loosening dirt and rocks. The pump acted like a water jet. If you use a big enough pump, such as a MUD pump, it will pump our small rocks too with loose dirt. EASY
Things seem to be overgrown around that area there might want to take a Weedwhacker to it. Lol.😊 but that well idea is pretty good since you have so much water in that area.
@ 11:40 get a pump running to remove the water, tie a bucket on rope and use post hole digger to fill bucket for The DON to pull up and dump in trailer easy peazy !!
We did this 12 years ago at our property in Devon UK (shallow well- PVC plastic corrugated slotted drain pipe lined) For our domestic off grid water suply. Works well (no pun intended) mechanically. Unfortunately the black PVC land drain pipe has ended up being a big mistake. The water has become slowly contaminated with TOXIC chemicals leaching out of the black PVC plastic (at the time when i installed it I wasnt aware of the issue with PVC toxicity). Now i gotta dig it all up again remove all the plastic and make it stone or concrete lined.
Kevin is stuck in the well. Tell Frankie to get help. LOL I was wondering how long it would take Kevin to make the connection and appreciate the humor/irony. LOL I've seen another Ytuber talk about that ax some days ago. That's one way to cut grass. LOL All's well that ends well.
Very artistic and thought out rustic system. This video stands out above many of your videos. Are you going to hide the stainless fountain base by putting small rocks on at least the outside? That would really look more rustic in my opinion. Keep the videos coming. I don't always comment but I don't miss a video. Sharing this one on X & FB.
You could increase the energy output from solars by adding heatsinks on the bottom side. Regular PC fans can have drastic improvements but probably not feasable in the woods, if you can find junk heatsinks to attach, that'd be great tho.
let us know how all of this works in freezing canadian winter. moving water is in itself anti-freeze, but will it be enough to prevent that "bird fountain whatever" from freezing up? i dug an 8 meters deep hole by hand, in arid south Spain. following the 'councel' of a water shaman, a local walking over my plot with wooden sticks... turned out to be dry, rock hard clay before i gave up, and the whole hole collapsed in the following rainy winter. then i went to employ heavy machinery, but no influx of water at the excavator's max depth reach. converted it into a concreted cistern. now i live in Sweden, and a bore hole through solid rock turned into an artesan well, no pump needed for 7000 liters/day. water is life
Great project. How deep did you engage up digging. I tool I use for working in small areas is called an eagle claw (may be a brand name). It’s a handle with 4 bent prongs and you just turn it to loosen stuff at the bottom of the hole. This turned out incredible. The rocks around the well and the large ‘sink’. The hollow non-wasp log is a great outlet. Thank you for sharing!
How did you know water would only be 6 feet down? M9st people on their first dig end up digging 25 or more feet! Wonderful project, all solar, and easy to maintain.
Just wonder what the distance and elevation difference is between this well and the pond. I mean, since it's so close, won't the water from this well eventually draw from the pond by some degree? I mean, not directly, but by drawing groundwater out from around the patio area, it might let water from the pond seep in to replace it - even though spillover from the "fountain" would go back in the pond.
That’s a really cool idea been wondering what this would look like been seeing or hearing you and your brother talk about some of the stuff getting ready to do this build. Love the log as a pipe, I myself couldn’t do that digging inside that pipe I’m way to claustrophobic I got trapped in a alleyway of a ear corn grain bin as a kid and had to wait there till all corn above got shelled out before I could get out. Ever since I don’t do small spaces. I just have one ? What happens in the winter do you have to pull the pump and drain the hoses?
Typically you wouldn't need to, no. The hoses would be fine as long as you didn't try to pump water through them, they stretch, so icing up isn't a big deal. However, the well is below the frost layer so it'll actually not freeze down there.
This is awesome. Question : Where/how did you feed the water pipe through to the water feature? I couldn't work out if you pushed it through the end of the white exit pipe that is covered with the log?
I found your video because I'm looking for a way to dig a well by stacking steel barrels that have an inside diameter of about 22 1/2 inches. It seems impossible to squat in such a small space, yet a well made like this exists. Did they have a dwarf or a child dig it? Or maybe they dug a hole without the barrels, then added them at the end like you did. Which means taking the risk of a landslide.

Yup!
Where’s the link for the axe?? Love your videos
@@ModernSelfReliance
Sorry to hijack this comment. But where is the axe link? Lol
Why didn’t you use the clay between the rocks so they stuck around the top of the well?
My standard Sunday morning get up do a few things then watch this channel and see what new and creative build you have on. It is actually really good because a certain amount of that water is probably seeping in from the pond so getting naturally filtered.
I have to admit.. my my favorite part of this build is the rigid pipe being installed into the girthy hole.
Well done sir 🎉
Usually I don't like commercials 🤣
But hey man thanks for showing me this birch mattress company! I'm definitely ordering me one 🤠👍

That is one pretty cool water feature, Kevin! Looks awesome and the pump works great!
Kevin, your ingenuity and creativity never ceases to amaze me!! Wonderful project, and functional to boot! 😄
Glad you like it!

Well, my weekend is complete now. Thanks for all the great content!
Glad to hear it!
So inspirational 🙌 😊. You are your trusty sidekick. Did it again, where there is a will. There is a way indeed. You are both blessed by God Almighty 🙏
Love that you have a cold water feed for the pond now. 👏👏👏
Kevin you never seem to amaze me love your work and the woods never had a better look
How cool is that! I love the simplicity, but the rocking look of the water feature..lol 😂 Awesome! Love what you're doing 😊
Simply amazing. Finding that basin was the key!
Good job on the well and the fountain ⛲️!!!😊🎉❤
Very cool! The whole pond area is looking beautiful!
I love your videos! You are equal parts entertaining and informative.
love your persistence, following through your projects
Excellent job guys 🎉
I love classic Don "it did, I do not want to have too much fun" 😂
Great show thank you for sharing. Well is awesome I know Don loves digging as much as I do. You guys have a great weekend.
so good. loving the progression of this place
Very cool 👍 your extremely creative.
Really good-looking result -- AND you make it look so simple and easy to do!

Will do

Awesome as always..Thanks for sharing and taking us along

awesome addition, all that hard work is really paying off
Kevin!! What an awesome vision!! I love it, and I'm grateful to be educated on the solar water pump. Thank you!! 👏🙌👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it!
HONESTY I LOVE WATCHING YOU. IT BRINGS OUT THE TOM-BOY IN ME. TOO OLD TO DO THE HARD WORK BUT STILL KNOW HOW AND LOVE TO LEARN.
You always do the coolest $hit!! I'm not swearing at you, I'm Australian 😅
Oi! Dingo got your barbie?
😂👍
He should be use to it... on the east coast everyone swears, not aggressively ignorantly
Cool video man👍
A little humor is always a good time.
So cool. Didn't know this was possible. You and Don work so hard
Rain water is very clean, actually. Cleaner than well water. Cheaper, too. If you put the right systems in place that is.
Always impressed with Kev's toys.
wonder if the well is filling up with water from the pond? Circle of life!
Awesome episode. ❤ I'm always entertained. Thank you. & you too Don
Good morning from Minnesota USA! Great episode!
Things seem to be overgrown around that area there might want to take a Weedwhacker to it. Lol.😊 but that well idea is pretty good since you have so much water in that area.
Winter does that really well.
You are such a great source of entertainment!
@ 11:40 get a pump running to remove the water, tie a bucket on rope and use post hole digger to fill bucket for The DON to pull up and dump in trailer easy peazy !!
It might be worth trimming down your tree canopy around the whole place. Take advantage of as many solar hours as possible.
Love all of the ideas, and interesting projects!
Love the water feature looks awesome

Another amazing video!
I would pump the water into some blue barrels so you have extra water on the property in case of emergency!
Kevin, put a “T” in the pipe and add a filter for drinking water. I can’t believe you didn’t do this a long time ago….nice!!!
ARE U ALSO MAKIN A NICE WATERFALL?? U COME UP WITH THE MOST INTERESTING AND AMAZING PROJECT'S LOVE WATCHING WHAT U DO NEXT..😀😁😎
Yes. It's in the works.
Looks good ive seen others put a pump down the culvert to remove the water faster than it goes in so they could continue digging

That axe is pretty cool. Handy having both a long axe and hatchet in one. Pound some wedges with that haha
It seems very solid... also Canadian made..
If you ever are not sure about notching with your saw maybe finish with the ax?
Very cool video. I like the fountain
Love the natural hallow log tube that's awesome I hope you don't mind when I start my homestead I'm going to do some of your ideas lol 🤘😜
Go for it.. be sure to post it on Instagram..
It's 50 degrees here in Upstate NY today.
Don just patiently waiting on Kevin to finish his shenanigans…lol!!
Have you seen the long handled pole shovels from long ago. They used them to dig deep wells.
I have. Might be a useful tool.
This is very cool Kevs!
Good idea to take your sun glasses down with you.
More details in the float would be cool i have a dc pump but no float system and need help on that part
Such a Cool water Feature 🤘🏽💀🤘🏽⁉️
Another great project!

Have to get caught up on this series!
Great job. Another improvement for the pond. Love watching the progress of your village. What are you gonna call it? Kevland? Kevinton? Keville?
Nice stuff but as a bird bath it would need some shallow bits so small birds can get out
There goes your stained water idea to keep the fishing birds from out-eating Chris

60 meters deep bore hole, done by professional machinery, for further information

The long cord is probably for a deeper well than what you dug.

I’m a bit surprised at the high water table, but I guess it’s at the same level as the pond.
That’s a really cool idea been wondering what this would look like been seeing or hearing you and your brother talk about some of the stuff getting ready to do this build. WELL done ! 👍
NICE Kevin ❤❤
Cool project.
Thank you for the video...
So: you are not only a flexible thinker.😇 This project came out beautifully. I failed to see how you could hand-dig a well 10 or so feet deep.
How quickly does that pump empty your well? You mentioned that you set the pump up to shutdown when it gets a certain level. Thanks for the video.
Takes about two hours to pump it down before the floats kicks on.
Cool nice job thanks for sharing
Throw a grappling hook to your chain saw
LOVE THIS!!!!! ❤
Tobacco spit for that sting. Crumble a cigarette, put tobacco in palm of hand, spit in it. Make a paste, apply to sting. Pain relief almost instantly.
Excellent
Good ol' Don, there still some sanity left.
maybe you could have used the stump of the tree to mount the solar panels? cheers
This is awesome. Question : Where/how did you feed the water pipe through to the water feature? I couldn't work out if you pushed it through the end of the white exit pipe that is covered with the log?
Hole in the top of the horizontal white exit pipe.
Syracuse NY USA brother and everyone else
How is all of that going to work in the winter?
Love this!
I found your video because I'm looking for a way to dig a well by stacking steel barrels that have an inside diameter of about 22 1/2 inches.

Sounds plausible. Probably a child.. or work on your flexibility.
Praised be Don. Saint of Ladders
I need to do this same thing
