Fading Sadness My soul at ease the moment the crisp music began. My heart was her's the moment she began singing. My eyes glistening, her gaze alone would tell the story. Truly encapsulated I am, & fittingly engulfed. Katie Melua. You have intricately placed a golden leaf onto a wintery, brown Titanic tree. Katie, you have intrinsically added a smiling hope to our memories of Titanic. This musical piece, releasing a glaring glint of an essence to an otherwise tragic memory of Titanic's fallen..
great singing and playing, very Irish sounding. I love how the lyrics really show the hopes and dreams of Titanic's third class passengers... which were tragically shattered.
Props of course to Toronto's own Ron Sexsmith for writing and recording this song years ago - the mark of a good songwriter is when the song takes on a life of its own and travels far and wide...
Katie has and is having a golden career. She is a treat to listen to and look at. Not like the tattooed slappers around today. Her best is yet to come.
I'm sure it's not just me but everytime I hear Katie sing it is like lyrics in this song are saying a case of cruel to be kind. Almost breaks me heart every time.
It's a tin whistle. Flutes typically have buttons called keys rather than just holes like a tin whistle (or a recorder) and are played horizontally to the mouth rather than vertically.
Katie looks so lovely. I think there's many better songs on Katie's new album, but everytime I hear Gold In Them Hills I think to myself 'how on earth could I not adjudge this song as the best in whole package of Katie's songs?' It has probably the most wonderful lyrics, but I still can't persuade myself. I prefer Heartstrings. :)
Beautiful with one of the best pipers ever - Davy Spillane !

I first heard this song in an episode of Queer As Folk, and have loved it ever since.

Davy Spillane, he blows like a god.
This really should NOT have worked, on paper, but... Real musicians don't need paper, that was special.
Beautiful Ron Sexsmith song .
I think Davy is just as moved as we are by Katie's peerless be singing

It's a low whiste. Tin whistles are usually shorter and higher pitched :)

Great song by Ron Sexsmith.
I knw Davy was talking to him tonight
Why isn't Davy playing the pipes?
shekhar kadam he does play low whistle to
My Adventures I know. I mean I understand the song demands a whistle. But the pipes would not hurt here. Thanks though.
My guess is , harps and other instruments? The Uilleann pipes go load when amped ..
