I first clapped eyes on Maggie Smith when she did The prime of miss Jean brodie, loved it so much that when I had a daughter I got her to watch it. We both love it so much and anything that Maggie did, we watched. RIP Maggie, you were our girrrrrrrrrrl, the crème de la crème❤🏴
Watching this after seeing "The Prime Of Miss Jean Brodie" from 1969, for which Dame Maggie Smith won the Oscar for best actress, an outstanding performance. I hadn't seen this film before, but it was good fun and there was excellent chemistry between Dame Maggie and Christopher Plummer, himself a fine actor. We'll all miss this great actress, who allowed herself to age gracefully without all the fakery of facelifts and botox etc. RIP Dame Maggie Smith 28.12.1934 - 27.9.2024
English movies are the best😍 Two of my favorite actors are in this. Maggie Smith and Christopher Plummer. They had good chemistry in this. A comedic drama at it's best. 😊 10 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The script was ingenious. The acting was superb. It is such a privilege that this part of cinematic history was brought into my living room. Thank you.
Funny, to me, the script is hilariously silly and childish It has the flavour of British infantility, such as expressed in adverts on the British telly, and in British tabloid content.
@@devonseamoor If you are a Brit, you are very harsh and demanding... in my humble opinion. But you are right : this movie would have been a B level movie with the wrong actors... BUT that was not the case -and I replayed many moments just for the quality of the acting, the perfect intonation at the perfect time (« Why is it so high ? » made me really laugh loud). Maggie Smith was perfect, and Christopher Plummer was THE man for the role. This said, I will also always keep in my heart Fawlty Towers... for the same reasons : « hilariously silly » , great actors and perfect timing ! 🧡✨
She are and will be one of the greatest artists that would be remembered for her amazing performances during her career. Thank you for your dedication and hard work…
I was about to leave after the first minutes, thinking it might be a dull movie -just popping up because of the passing of Maggie Smith... How wrong was I ! So happy I stayed ! 🧡✨ And Christopher Plummer !!! Such a treat to laugh thanks to brilliant actors ! 🧡✨
(Observation) When Robin Williams and Gene Wilder died, I couldn't find a single movie anywhere. Now I just search movie and there are several with Maggie. I find that strange.
I'm watching now and thinking she mustn't be so stupid not to recognize her husband. Will see :) I think she is tricking him to believe she doesn't know
Plummer’s American accent comes and goes more than his Italian one. He should’ve just played his character British like his wife. And what the heck happened to the film within the film?
It's not the best performance Maggie Smith shows us, in this movie. Only more of the same behaviour, not particularly colourful, and refined with varied expressions. Also, and I expect it's the reason why this movie didn't make it to great heights, the mimicry of Lily's husband is a total failure, for it's obvious that there's fakery at play. A wife will always hear and smell, voice and body odour, knowing her husband for real. The fantasy role in this movie is hilarious, and turns this movie rather into a childrens' puppet theatre show. 🖐👩🌾
Once again someone forgot to put the date released to public in the title name or in the about/description/synopsis area. Lay-Z wank. Oh well... 'Lily In Love' (1984) Version (had to wait until the end of movie to verify public released date in end credits). I rated this 10 out of 10 ☆'s. Maggie Smith & Christopher Plummer were still beautifully young & vibrant in this movie. Two Gr8t actors (Household Hero Legends) (R.I.P) now making their own fairy-dust magic somewhere 4-Ever in the air, above & world-wide. ThnX 4-Upld & Eng speaking Subtitles 4Us Hard Of Hearing/Handicapped people.
Very funny. I’m watching all the Maggie Smith movies as they come up. Thank you UA-cam. We can celebrate her wonderful career. RIP.
I am too xxx
Same here! 😢
We lost one of the best actresses today. Rest in Peace Dame Maggie. You'll always be an inspiration to so many and you're already greatly missed...😥

R.🌹.P Maggie your country lost a national treasure , the world is a darker place without you in it.⭐️🌈⭐️
There are other wonderful actors (mostly English), but never one such as Maggie Smith. She will be sorely missed.
GRAND AS USUAL: so grateful you offer such a quality to us.
As life turns into fantasy...and fantasy turns into life...❤️ never changes...
I dont know if I can appreciate this style of haming it up 😂
I'd recognise Maggie Smith's voice anywhere😊
Thank you so much!
Thanks for uploading. Really enjoyed! ❤
¡Bella película con dos grandes actores! Un tema tan común en las parejas presentado de forma genial. 🇨🇱
Made me laugh a lot. Great film good actors from another time
Maggie Smith is forever. Talent is talent.
This movie is actually more of a comedy than a drama, however there is some very good acting in it definitely worth the watch 🤗
Love you always maggie❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great. Thanks.
Chris is great in this too😊
Sadly missed RIP Maggie❤
Fantastic...could not stop laughing
Bellissimo.

Whatever it turns you on in a marriage is welcome...
Beautiful 😊
Fantastic bought actors
Plummer eating the furniture, overdoing it, a parody of an “acTOR!”
Why do we celebrate the actors more in death than alive? I would've watched this mobie when she was alive as well
Well acted funny movie not seen this side of Christopher plumber …. And of course Maggie Smith was wonderful
Lovely entertainment genius! ❤❤❤❤
I'm watching now and thinking she mustn't be so stupid not to recognize her husband. Will see :) I think she is tricking him to believe she doesn't know
🕯🕯👑🕯🕯
Brilliant
The best a great loss😂

Twin Towers at 10 minutes.
How old was Maggie ?
Came out in 84, 50, or 49ish
The movie was in 1984, 40 years ago.
So, approximately, 48, 49 years old.
Maggie Smith called costar Christopher Bummer. This is awful.

Those that can, do.
Those who can't criticise those that can. Pathetic.
Kind of a lame premise, but well acted, nonetheless.
English engsub
30 min. and I bailed, awful.
This is not one of the best !
