    Great set... the 35mm lens clearly has a slight color shift, the chart at 9:10 shows the shift.

      Yes, possibly, but nothing a tiny slide to the left wouldn't fix in a split second. The set it very nice.

    50 looks the best to me, but I do prefer the flare from the 14 for some strange reason. It's a pretty sweet set!

      50mm is super clean, and it's no doubt the most clinical along with the 85mm. The flare on the 14mm is wild, do like what's going on there too. Yes, it's a very nice set, and so well priced!

    I want the 85mm for stills, love the way it obliterates the background.

    I would like to ask you all, I am using the Sony E-mount system, currently shooting motion pictures mainly, events, weddings and documentary scenes, and would like to try my first movie lens to shoot creative types of content, so I would like to just buy a nisi athena.
    I've been working in TV for over 5 years and I've used broadcast camera lenses, and I don't have too much trouble with manual focusing and controlling the aperture.
    I would like to ask you all, if I only buy one, do you recommend a fixed focal length lens?
    The focal lengths I currently have are
    1. 16-35Gm Sony
    2. 28-75 Tamron (spare)
    3. 35-150 Tamron
    4. 50GM Sony
    5. 150-600 SIGMA
    Currently I'm most interested in the nisi athena 25 & 50mm, but it's a duplicate of what I have now, so is the 35mm the best objective choice?
    Thanks for the replies!

    Seems like 50 is the best, also 14 and 85 is clean too. I think the worst is 35 because there are obvious flaws (not character) and the whole set is supposed to be neutral/clinical. I wanna get the set but I don't really like the 35 and 25 IQ. Very informative video. Thanks for doing it.

    If you could get only one for a Sony FX30 APSC camera, which one of these lenses would it be?

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba  9 місяців тому +2

      Oh gosh, maybe the 25mm, it would be a 35mm, that's such a nice focal length. Heads up though, there will be an 18mm, 40mm and 135mm coming next year, so then I'd probably go with the 18mm, it'll be a 28mm then.

      The 14mm is very nice, a little out there, but kind of love that about it.

    My set came through a few days ago, and when considered as a whole (compact size, light weight, image quality, modest cost), nothing comes close to the value and practicality.

      I absolutely agree, this is an absolutely fantastic set of cine lenses. For the price, they really are a steal! I can't wait for my 14mm, should be here soon!

      Lol. Actually, the full frame are T2.0, also a very good lens, but no where near as clean as the Nisi, they have more of a character to them, which I like but if I was buying a set I'd prefer to go with something a little more clinical like the Nisi so I can add whatever character I want later on.

    Hey are you sure theyre weather proofed? When I emailed them they said these are not weather sealed.

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba  9 місяців тому

      I think what I meant to say is that they are weather resistant, the non-drop-in filter option for Sony E, much like most of my other lenses, but they don't have a rubber gasket, so I wouldn't use them in full monsoon season, but then again I've used mine in serious rain and they've been fine on all my Sony a7 series cameras. The drop-in filter option though, that I wouldn't use in bad weather, which funnily enough is the one I've ordered, the 14mm. I thought it was an excellent option for a wide lens without the need for front filters messing things up.

      @@PhillipSkraba I see! I was kind of hesitant because of the non weather sealing but I guess for the price you can’t ask for everything. I’m contemplating getting the PL mount for future proofing. The Drop in filters don’t really interest me, can you explain why they’re so sought after? Is it just to stop vignetting from ND’s and color shifts ?

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba  9 місяців тому

      I went with the E mount, keeping my fingers crossed that if I want to invest in a new camera it would be an FX6 II. The drop in filters are great on the 14mm, as when I used a screw in filter there was vignetting, so that would bypass that without the need for a matte box. The Nisi vnd filters are excellent and don't actually produce a noticeable colour shift, so win win really.
