Who has seen this "No Service" or "Cellular Update Failed" on their iPhone? Seems to be a plague with these iPhones!
Did about 15 of these. Was not repairable in all due to shorted baseband CPU.

I have no idea. I've never calibrated it.
Change the baseband pmu , then a good reball , if it’s doesn’t work a neat buttom board swap would solve the issue , it’s is the signature error for the 12 series all the 12

Did you heat the phone on the screen removal? Temp and time on screen removal?
Yes of course. 75C facing up and use iso to soften adhesive & lifted it up with a tool & suction cup

Hi Jesse! I had my iPhone back glass replaced as well as the battery due to swelling and am now having this issue constantly, and removing and reinserting the sim card was a temporary fix that is no longer working. The phone is still picking up the IMEI within the About but cellular update failed. Would you think there is still a problem with the board? I came across your video and it was super helpful but I am all out of options and I really don't want to take it to Apple when I have a third party battery in it cause they might not look at it at all or charge me $$$. Thanks!
Hi Danielle, if your iPhone 12 Pro Max is giving you a "Cellular Update Failed" message, it is 100% a motherboard issue, unfortunately. Since you mention it had back glass repaired, then it most likely had a hard impact which caused the motherboard issue.

I wish I could get you to look at it, but sadly I am in Australia.
I have warranty for the repair so hopefully they will look at the motherboard and help me out, unsure what the costs will be though as they probably won't deem it happened when they repaired the back glass.
With how many payments I have left on this phone I'm unsure if it's worth spending more $ on repairing it at this stage. Thanks again for the reply!

Definitely check with that repair shop to see if they can help you with the repair. If not, search for other shops who offer "microsoldering" who may be able to help.

low melt solder is ok to reball the iphone 12 sandwich board
I use low melt 138C for the bottom board & 183C on the top board & use 200C to melt it together.
I have the same issue iphone 12 pro max keep searching , iDevce has been restored by customer after seeing your video I'm confused to go with this battle of repair and finally not repaired , will try my luck . at least you tried and did your best respect bro .
If you know how to solder, then just try it. I think i just had bad luck in this case. I've fixed other devices with this same method.

If you ised a glass braker, you pushed too hard on the wrong area

you probably damaged the bottom board, causing this problem :)

You need to contact the seller about that.
ok so let me get this straight. So you are not using a reballing stencil? you are just adding solder on both sides with a soldering iron? Bottom low melt and top regular? and this levels perfectly? i feel like just eyeballing the solder placement would have an uneven effect on the sandwich board. great video, thanks for sharing it.
Yes that's correct.
I mentioned in the video why.
There's no stencil that fits the bottom board with the antenna still attached.

What does laser do to board when removing back glass
IMO, the laser itself doesn't do anything.
The fact it's getting the back glass replaced means it had a hard drop
hard drops can cause board damage
or
whoever was doing the back glass repair, used the glass breaker tool too much & damaged the board that was still in the housing.

This is due to a board issue. So restoring it a bunch of times won't fix that unfortunately.
Most likely it’s a baseband pmic it could be a radio ic as well or board was bent , cold solder
Hi jesse I'm in ur group... Why did u board swap before checking voltages and components ? U probably or possibly didn't need to board swap. Could be it was simpler. Review ur sop man.

For me, it's easier to test in jig & see if that solves it. if not, then bottom board swap
do you have any tutorials on how to measure baseband voltages on sandwich boards?
@@VCCBoardRepairs hi jesse good morning from Portugal. In that specific case even the top board can be the culprit. As far as measurements are concerned u measure resistance on the bottom board and use a smartbox with 2 multimeters.
Next time u get one gimme a shout i can show u some supporttive software that will help. Remember that remoivng those large undefilled ics make the board more propence to get out of service than if u just fix or remove one culprit. I pushed the vid forward thought it was a board swap when u removed those ics. U also can use test points on the bottom of board for testing voltages.
I have to also say ur soldering skills are top notch. Very good.

Yes! No bottom board is needed just to boot it up. Although not everything is going to work like this.
